Hey @ShadowWizard, shouldn't you be sleeping at this time? :P
If he's supposed to be sleeping, WHY ARE YOU PINGING HIM?
LET SLEEPING SHADOWS LIE
I don't like darkness
"Hello Darkness my old friennndddd"
I had to Google this to find out it's from the song Sound of Silence
I love this song
(Small note: Shadow had joined the chat room, that's why I talked to him)
01:13
That was entirely tongue in cheek
If I was angry at ya, you'd know.
I imagined it, I just wanted to make it clear to avoid possible misunderstandings.
Wow, that has one fu***** billion views
I mean, if I'm quoting it, its either very famous or painfully obscure :D
Or both
I'd be impressed if something was both
Isn't that the case?
@JourneymanGeek Good music
02:28
hmm
02:59
@AndreascondemnsIsrael I think I've found someone who likes fans more than you

@ShadowWizard It was okay enough ;) Next time I'm tweaking the recipe. I'm going to replace the coconut milk with something that doesn't taste like coconut, and add an extra spoon of curry paste to hopefully make it just a tad spicier.
(Oh, and leave the lid of the slowcooker for the last half an hour or so, to hopefully get a thicker sauce and not a soup :P)
08:12
@Marco well, I did go to sleep 50 minutes before you wrote this, in 2am which is my usual hour. ;)
@JourneymanGeek no worry, the sound of pings just make me sleep better, if anything. :P
@Marco hehe, good song - I'm also responsible for some views. (Or one, if it counts only unique when visitor is logged in.)
@Marco ah so perhaps the computer did auto restart after update, Windows has this nasty habit.
lol
@starball what about it?
@Tinkeringbell ah, nice! What about actual milk? ;)
@Tinkeringbell you can also add something that can melt into the sauce to make it thicker, e.g. parmesan. I sometimes add it into pasta sauce.
08:44

@Tinkeringbell I think the general recommendation is milk, evaporated unsweetened milk if you want it thickened
@JourneymanGeek cow's milk?
ooops LOL not my fault Smokey posted in the instant I was clicking the reply arrow. :D
@JourneymanGeek I also read unwhipped whipped cream or 'cooking cream' :)
I think I'll go for the latter.
@ShadowWizard I don't think parmesan would fit the flavor profile here :P
The recipe just said to add cornstarch, maybe I'll just add some more of that. But I think leaving the lid off would work as well.
@ShadowWizard I do think the 'actual' milk as sold here in supermarkets isn't fatty enough.
The coconut 'milk' was basically whole chunks of fatty stuff and a bit of liquid from a can.
@Tinkeringbell ah, pity! D:
@Tinkeringbell We don't buy coconut milk but I don't think its generally split
the store bought stuff probably had emulsifiers and stuff tho
08:49
@Tinkeringbell how much fat is needed? The common milk here is 3%, there is also 3.9% but yeah, for some reason no higher, for liquid milk.
I think its less fat than the thickening effect
So essentially to make cheese they just add fat?
Well, not really
they remove water :D
@ShadowWizard I already got rid of the can I had. But looking at similar cans, per 100grams of coconut milk those list 17 grams of fat, so 17%?
09:16
@Tinkeringbell whoa that is indeed a lot. :D
@ShadowWizard That's the normal for milk. Like it can go a bit higher to about 5% but generally if you need more than than that, you're looking for cream.
@ShadowWizard Yeah, it makes for a very creamy curry but also tastes a lot like coconut :P
Cooking cream for example has 20 percent fat, so coconut milk is healthier than cooking cream :P
waffles
10:00
@VLAZ yeah, fair. :)
@Tinkeringbell here the cooking cream comes at 15% or 10%, usually using the 15%.
@ShadowWizard That's the 'light' version here :P
@VLAZ those are indeed healthier than cream. :D
@Tinkeringbell well there is "sweet cream" as well here, with 30% but not for cooking. I think.
@ShadowWizard That's probably what the supermarkets sell here for making 'whipped cream'.
I'm probably going for a 'light' version cooking cream next time, with around 15% fat ;)
@Tinkeringbell yup that's the word. ;)
@Tinkeringbell yay!
But next time is going to be a bit far in the future: I still have 3 servings left in the freezer from this time :P

meta.stackexchange.com/a/403656/1422281 is this answer AI generated, or is it just the marketing talk making it sound that way?
11:41
@A-Tech no AI, Marketing, pure and raw, right from the hands of some "expert" in marketing who dictates what and how to write. Not a single tiny shred of emotion, 1000% politically correct, and must contain all the right buzz words.
The poor author is just a messenger.
Not even messenger, it's just a pipe to copy and paste messages from above, as the people above will never get their hands dirty.
(or god forbid, get downvotes.)
oh well.
Coffee should swipe the bad taste away!
!!/coffee someone
@ShadowWizard brews a cup of jQuery for @someone
@A-Tech Some days its hard to tell :D
11:54
@JourneymanGeek nah, these days anything consisting of several paragraphs appears as AI generated.
(especially when we disagree with what's written. ;))
And most people are fortunate enough not to be fluent in managementese
hehe lost soul didn't even realize their post is deleted, when editing. :D

@JourneymanGeek It’s a delight.
@ShadowWizard hmmmm
@ShadowWizard nice!
@ShadowWizard hmmm, I see
@ꓢPArcheon haha, I see
Marco's doing a lot of seeing today
@ꓢPArcheon awesome, I had already seen and liked this video, I'm watching it again
@Spevacus eye C
@Spevacus yeah
14:39
@Marco I see
:D
I see hence I exist.
Well, some people can even See++
hmm I see more red tags added by staff than usual, is it the Sprint time already?
@ShadowWizard Speculating, but the wording in this answer suggests the CMs are doing a lot of ticket cleanup.
@Spevacus isn't that what the Sprint(s) are for?
ah well no, it was done already.
Not necessarily. The CMs may have taken a look at their boards and thought "This could do with some cleanup" and noted that many of the items in there were fixed on the dev side but never resolved on the CM side or on the public bug report/feature request post.
14:47
So those are some leftovers?
Pretty much yeah. Stuff that was done but never followed up on on the posts on Metas (if they exist)
@Spevacus cleaning desk technique! Nice.
Clean one pile, another pile starts forming right away though. ;)
Like @JNat's backlog of spam. :D
@ShadowWizard I'd say unless you keep your open tickets to close to zero - periodically clearing out stuff that looks like low hanging frut, or worse eaten fruit seems like a good idea
@JourneymanGeek never said it's not a good idea, on the contrary: it's very welcome.
Kind of "Yaakov'ed" of modern times. :P
What is Yaakov'ed?
14:50
Nov 10, 2020 at 13:14, by Shadow 10 Years Wizard
@Luuklag homepage has been Yaakoved.
Homepage of MSE had like 10 questions with red tag added by Yaakov, in short period of time.
An affectionate term for a beloved dev no longer with the company. Yaakov would occasionally, in bulk, post answers and retag a large number of bugs/feature requests that he or other devs worked on.
Some fixed, some review, don't rememer.
Hmm, very nice
@Spevacus yup. And he wasn't just a "dev", he was kind of dev/CM hybrid, in reality.
He took huge part in calming down the situation after the Monica crisis.
Or during, actually.
Well such thing won't work with the current management, that's for sure.
And it's Slim Delis time! :D
Yummy!!!!
14:55
@Marco +1
!!/coffee to go with the snack
@ShadowWizard brews a cup of latte for @to
!!/coffee
@Marco brews a cup of espresso for @Marco
So much coffee, careful it won't spill!
@SmokeDetector @to?
@ShadowWizard yeah
14:56
@Marco no AI, so it just make it to the first name given in the command. ;)
@ShadowWizard why does this happen?
@Marco that's just how the code is written, which makes sense, you can either make coffee for yourself (if no argument is given), or to someone else, when you give a name as argument.
I did suggest upgrading the command so it can accept multiple names and ping them all, but don't think it will be done. ;)
@ShadowWizard I'm saying it was written @to (I don't know what that is), instead of @Shadow
@Marco ah, because it was !!/coffee to go with the snack - the "to go with the snack" is the argument, Smokey takes the first word.
It can't know it's not meant as a name.
ohhhhh
15:04
With AI it will be able to know, but... no AI there. ;)
I got it now
Plain simple code.
yeah
You see now, do you?
:D
of courseee
How is Israel today?
15:07
@Marco we're in the final stages of Iron Beam development.
Laser that will take down rockets, missiles, and UAV's.
Ah... the Jewish space laser!
But my boss claims it won't work. And he knows a thing or two in those things, so... I hope he's wrong.
@Tinkeringbell won't reach space, but yeah. :D
@ShadowWizard 'air space laser' then, fiiiine :P
And on other news I saw today, our government is "considering" a cease fire with Hezbollah.
I considered quitting my job today. I didn't :P
15:10
:D
Exactly.
Too easy :P
@ShadowWizard Wowwwww, awesomeeeeee
@ShadowWizard I also hope he's wrong
@Marco yup
@ShadowWizard Oh my god the space laser is real
Trivia time! What is the most ridiculous thing in this picture?
@Spevacus it is, but question is if it will actually take down the things they claim it will take down...
15:14
The man speaking is woefully underdressed.
@Spevacus nah, that's usual and fine, and not annoying. :)
Hint: something small.
OK guess nobody will be able to connect the dots, so... here it is:
The yellow ribbon is used for various purposes. It may be worn on a person, placed on a vehicle, around a tree, or for a neck tie. == History and etymology == === Early Puritan history === The song/poem "She wore a yellow ribbon" has appeared in various forms for at least four centuries. It is based upon the same general theme: A woman of destiny is under some sort of test or trial as she waits for her beloved to return. Will she be true to him? This seems to be the lingering question and the basis for a great unfolding drama. The song appears to have been brought to America from Europe...
Our dear PM wears it ^
And he's doing anything in his power against bringing the hostages back.
If they will be back, war will be over. Interrogations about how this all happened will start. Etc.
Not to mention other trials against him that started years ago and put on hold during the war.
So for him, this war is a blessing.
15:39
Ahh, and you expected us to figure that out? You overestimate us :P

1 hour later…
16:46
@ShadowWizard What? What is your basis?
@ShadowWizard This is your opinion, not a fact.
17:32
@Marco whenever youdisagree with someone, you keep repeating that. It's very abrasive you know.
It's like going to the doctor, the doctor diagnoses you with cancer, and you say "This is your opinion, not a fact." Guess what, as a general rule, more learned opinions than yours are far closer to reality. A NASA engineer has some opinions about space travel that have far more substance than any facts I try to dig up from Google searches.
@ShadowWizard I only know about that AIDS ribbon
Oh, and lupus.
And hepatitis.
Man there are quite a lot of ribbons huh
I wish there were ribbons about, I dunno, friendship? Not hepatitis.
@ShadowWizard the lady in the back looks like she's dozed off
@M.A.R. Feel free to disagree with what I say. You just can't stop me from continuing to express myself.
@M.A.R. What a cute little story. But I refuse it.
Have whatever opinion you want.
I recommend ignoring each other from now on.
Who do you recommend I ignore?
Hey @balpha the ignore button just stopped working now
Pressing it again works
I dunno if it's a minor bug or if there will be tsunami later, so just thought I should tell you.
If it matters, I'm looking at the desktop version of the site from an up-to-date version of Brave on Android
18:18
@ShadowWizard You know what I think that is actually worse than SE just AI generating responses.
@A-Tech Be careful what you ask for
New Post: We are closing meta and are introducing the meta-Chatbot!
inb4 dropping all non-AI products
its probably pointless but I will write a post asking to at least tone down the marketing talk
Pretty sure there have been attempts to do that in the past
18:24
hey it took me only like 5 post for them to do something (though not what i asked for ) about declined suggestion notifications, there is hope
@Marco facts: he keeps either rejecting any suggestion, or changing it in ways he knows the other side can't accept. Basic tactic.
@ShadowWizard Please give me the source of what you are saying.
@A-Tech Ah, to be young and optimistic :P
@Marco nope, feel free to find it yourself - or even better, a source that proves me wrong i.e. that he actually wants the war to be over, and accept suggestions to end it. Anyway you are correct - this is my opinion, yes. But that is what I believe. And also note, I didn't say it's bad for Israel as whole - it's a war we are still "winning". But it is annoying for me personally. (That he refuse to end it due to personal agenda - IMO)
@M.A.R. well, sure - both are ribbons. :D
@M.A.R. nah, she's checking her phone.
@M.A.R. hmm yeah I've seen several people say ignore isn't working well.
@ShadowWizard Ok, if you don't want to give me the source, no problem. I don't have time to look for sources that say the opposite of what you said, although I'm sure he's not acting against the rescue of the hostages, or anything else that is against Israel, especially since you were the one who claimed this information.
18:39
@A-Tech worse? Nope. Same effect though: they convince the convinced, or however the saying goes. I mean, the core user base is not fooled by either AI responses, or pure marketing nonsense.
@M.A.R. Thanks for being sensible.
@Marco you change what I said, or more accurate add sides to it that I never meant to say. I didn't say that being against a ceasefire that will bring the hostages back is being against Israel. There is a good chance that by dry statistics it's good for Israel - what I said initially here is due to him wearing a ribbon suggesting he wants them back, and this is ridiculous.
I recommend no more Israël discussions with @Marco because it always ends in moderation work for me.
Please?
oh wait, there's the other room, guess any RO can move everything there then.
Kind of forgot about it. :/
@ShadowWizard Also not in just another room. Just no more discussing said topic with that user.
Any other user, fine. Just not that one, as it always ends in moderating.
18:47
@Tinkeringbell when it's just us it's not, but yeah when more people involved you're correct.
@ShadowWizard Well any other publicly accessible room can have more users involved, sooooo
I said, no more.
See, that's why I don't usually add a "please" for politeness sake
Stop means stop.
@balpha chat suspensions are broken too.
@M.A.R. Is that some kind of a vessel you ship away your friends on?
@Marco I've read what's happened pretty carefully (re: your flag). Tink is taking a preventative measure to avoid having to take excessive moderation action in the future. We have another room that was purposely made for handling the political conflicts we've made here, but while it's an option, I don't think simply moving the problem from this room to another is a good idea.
The I/P conversations have come up several times over the last few days and have almost always ended in someone getting kicked or in some cases chat suspended. It's an incendiary topic and Tink is well within her right to put the kibosh on it. (yes, pun intended, I can be funny too)
(Someone being Marco, btw. I can't remember any other user being kicked or suspended over it, unless @Spevacus does).
Starship as well, in that other chatroom.
19:02
Ah, okay, that makes two then :)
It's tough. I don't like the idea of putting a blanket ban on it, but if it's going to incite bad vibes this often, I dunno what else we should do.
Gallery mode room for those who wish, where troublemakers can be denied access after misbehavior?
That's the only other option I can think of.
But that'd bring its own load of moderation work.
@Tinkeringbell eh, that's worthy of a bug report. Better be done by a mod, as, well, you know. :)
@Spevacus yup
19:14
@ShadowWizard Done! :D
@Tinkeringbell by @Spe, yeah.
I knew that was happening ;-)
Also, we have a problem. @Tink is a (red) parrot, @Journeyman is a dog, @rene is a flower, and @Spe is... what?
It's very vital! I can't sleep!
:D
Some kind of magician/wizard with a lot of lightning. Or dying from unsafe working conditions as an electrician.
19:18
Sorry my avatar isn't simple enough. ;)
Just a normal real life picture, obviously
@ShadowWizard Big, blue biting ball.
hmm
in Petəíŕd's Den on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, 35 secs ago, by OakBot
@ShadowWizard I see a person with glowing eyes surrounded by a swirling blue energy or lightning, wearing a hooded cloak or coat. It's got a magical or mystical vibe!
Neat bot.
@Spevacus pity! So you can be just... vacus? Is that even a word? ;)
Vacus. Spe Vacus.
19:20
Vacuous is a word! It... Sometimes describes me ;)
"Please, Vacus was my father. Call me Spe"
Special Politely Extended Vehicular Android Comes Undone Simplified
Nevermind, that made no sense.
@Spevacus toooo long and compli-cated. :D
I'll never remember how to write it correctly.
Like queue
oh wait, that one I know. :D
huh! Oak suggested this: "The Thunder Mage" /cc @Spe
I saw that!
btw @ShadowWizard I seriously considered using your profile for the GIF. Figured, y'know, if I accidentally suspended you... A few less pings around the Tavern wouldn't be the worst thing ;)
19:56
@Spevacus ping :P
Oh my god. I had three instances of chat.Meta open so I got 3 pings...
20:27
@Tinkeringbell I think he’s telling us he wants 3 pings for every message we send to him in the future.
I dunno why I had 3 different tabs for chat open but I did, and the pings echoed across them all. Slight jumpscare.
@Spevacus I am... honored! :-P
@Spevacus hehe, next time full volume! :D
Anyway, if anyone wants to keep discussing things that can't be discussed here anymore (i.e. the politics stuff) as I mentioned before, feel free to email me, and I also have Discord, username there is yahavbr. /cc @M.A.R. @Marco and of course anyone else is also welcome. :)

2 hours later…
22:45
@ShadowWizard Nah, I'm pretty despirited about that discussion. It's changed the atmosphere here quite a bit, and I don't like it.
I should go back to roasting @Journey
@ShadowWizard Ben Foster
Guy's face scrreeeeams "Bandit Thug". He's also been the bandit thug in half a dozen movies (Hell or High Water and 3:10 to Yuma, for example)
But some genius decided he'd look cool as an evil wizard
I mean, don't get me wrong, he's a great actor, with a great range, if he wants to. Just . . . Not evil wizard
That WoW movie looked good, had that going for it.
But it was like cramming an entire season of a show into a movie, and those rarely go well. When they do (Dune part 1) it's not satisfying enough for me
It had a great director too. The guy who directed Source Code, one of my favorite movies
It's just . . . With a movie with a huge cast, you have to make everything about team protagonist close and personal. At the same time, no matter how hard you try, you can't cram anything but the most shallow encounters into a movie. You can't sacrifice big CG fights, so the meaningful interactions go away to make space.
I mean there was also the fact that those super bulky WoW armors looked pretty silly in live action.
23:09
@M.A.R. I think you just called @Spe a thug.
23:20
@M.A.R. Yeah it didn't have much going for it besides the CGI. But man was the CGI well done.
Ben Foster did "misunderstood sorcerer tormented by... Idk something bad" decently. Not amazing, nothing that stands out, but okay.
@M.A.R. Tbf WoW still looks silly in video game version
I remember looking at some clips of the movie on YT...
The acting seemed pretty bad all across the board.
@AndreascondemnsIsrael No? @Spe isn't Ben Foster, @Spe is "Ben Foster forgetting a fork in the microwave". Totally different thing.
