We close questions as duplicates and vote them down. But I do not blame the askers. Come on. This question was not found by this search. Our search functionality is basically useless, to put it bluntly.
@CPlus generally I find the sidebar suggestions work better. I also tend to favour a less strict approach for meta, but that's not really what most people favour :D
@CPlus Closing and voting are orthogonal. I'd vote as a dupe then separately decide whether a vote is needed. And which vote. I do upvote some dupes that are well-asked and are excellent sign posts. I downvote some that are terrible signposts. Many I don't vote on at all.
@Tinkeringbell Another one of those socket bugs, it seems. The server closed the socket unexpectedly.
That's just my interpretation based on the error message. Again, that could happen because the server is receiving more inbound connections than it can handle, so it closes active ones in order to serve new ones. Anyway, just speculation.
@EleezatheOtherWorldWizard data dumps being blocked by SE, in a rather annoying way showing two things: 1) how much they are clueless about the community, and 2) how much they simply dislike the community they keep lying (for some odd reason) they care about.
@EleezatheOtherWorldWizard well, for me it was no surprise. I lost trust in SE management long ago. But for others it was, and they take it harder - as you see while I'm annoyed by it, I'm still here, and still doing the same stuff on MSE. Just a case where I'm sad to be correct. (In my distrust, where others still had trust.)
@Eleeza but what about you? How are things going? You got driving license? ;)
@ShadowWizard Ah I haven’t had any driving lessons at all since the winter, I’ll have to start again at some point but idk when. Other than that, uni life has just consisted of writing essays about video games and losing at mario kart
And I’m getting back to drawing and making music again
@EleezatheOtherWorldWizard since about the time it was launched. lol
Except some bug fixes and minor design changes, perhaps.
And that's why when SE says "we'll add this feature in the next version of the product", e.g. the new inbox, or now the data dumps.... nobody believes them anymore.
