@Feeds So… you have all of these systems, working together to produce this recommendation engine that more often than not just recommends python/r courses to people who have shown no interest in python/r, on questions that aren’t related to either. Great job.

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog thanks - do you have an example, I doubt I can find one on a site I don't moderate. A screenshot of a Meta.SE post would be best, better than a link since it will look different for me anyway :)

ah, right, the text in the notice is different from six-flags-nuked posts, and the script looks for "It was flagged as spam or offensive content" in that notice
I should be able to fix that tonight, thanks for the screenshots.

Q: Stack Exchange is failing its community

Journeyman GeekI guess this is very much an intervention - There's a few policies in the pipeline - here's a leak of one, and there's another one that's not been officially announced that a good many moderators are opposed to. I'll update when (or if) it goes through, but it's not great. Tied in with the new 'p...

The new vote button styling is so yuck.

I don't like the 20s so far. We all need to go back.

Then we have to do the twenties again
We need fast forward :P

3:39 PM
Does anyone have a userscript/userstyle that gives you the old buttons back?

4:15 PM
Thew new vote buttons look to poofy
way to big

A: How do I change vote arrow buttons back?

user3840170This is a user style that I managed to come up with in about 15 minutes, based on a cached copy of a question with old styles. button.js-vote-down-btn, button.js-vote-up-btn { border: none !important; border-radius: 0 !important; background: none !important; padding: 0 !important;...

@BigJoe Yes, works great for me :)

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog could you try v0.8 please?

4:38 PM
@Glorfindel It fixed the question but not the answer. Also, your Wilson score user script broke due to the new vote buttons.
Looking into it, it seems like some answers show as "This answer is hidden" instead of "This post is hidden".

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog good call
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog new update: v0.9. Wilson is still working for me, both the initial link and the automatic activation after clicking the vote breakdown

4:54 PM
@Glorfindel Ah, the Wilson script not working may have just been a strange one-off.

perhaps, if you can reproduce it we can work from there :)

Yep, it works now. Thanks! It's not great that SE decided to remove the CSS class for spam-masked posts, making scripts like these harder to write and more likely to break if SE decides to change the format of notices.

Completely agree - the current script doesn't even work on the non-English sites...

(not to mention, SE's own client-side code for title changes for mods viewing masked posts)

that too

Okay I admit, the hint on GPT push on that Salesforce.meta post is nuts.
I mean, if they go that way . . . It's a bit too disconnected from reality, even for me
For the voting buttons, well, now I can't tell if I voted on something. This change is making me have to use accessibility features. Mission failed successfully?

seems just as obvious as before on SO, though you could certainly argue the surface area of the colored portions is significantly reduced, making it less obvious on meta where they use a darker grey rather than the site color

Isn't this stuff, like, supposed to be tested or something before a change is rolled out

I dunno if it's ugly. I mean, it's not not ugly, and it's not pretty

Q: Updated button styling for vote arrows: A/B testing has concluded

Cesar MThis experiment has concluded. We've gathered and analyzed the results in Results of the voting arrow experiment. This week, we're rolling out a test to update the appearance of voting arrows for both questions and answers, which will bring some accessibility gains, namely affordance, feedback, ...

So done on SO, but not meta.SE?
And to similar critical acclaim I see

@JourneymanGeek > makes me feel that the company doesn't really have a long term plan and that there's a loss of trust in the company's ability to understand the needs of the community and that we've a real voice in these decisions.
I feel that the part I've bolded above doesn't flow well / it is hard for me to understand. If you'd care to re-word or clarify, I'd appreciate it.

Any chance of featuring this post? Perhaps not right for the author to feature it themselves, but another moderator might be interested. Well, unless it's better to just await the official posts? — Andreas detests censorship 5 hours ago
isn't it just staff posts that get featured? have any non-staff posts ever been featured?
anyway, it'll be a hot meta post easily, so I don't see a need to feature it.

oh joy

clearly the reason the site is in decline is because we're banning too many people for abusing the site, it couldn't possibly be that after 10 years of doing nothing an alternative came around and started stealing traffic, no, that's impossible

@KevinB Yep. Cleverly crafted to be a Q&A pair, so any potential objection would not belong.
I seriously need a long break from this shitshow.

Unpopular opinion: I agree with the policy, mainly as someone who almost personally experienced a major scandal of being falsely accused of violating policies with submitting text. I thankfully escaped, but many of my friends didn't and were made to go through absolute hell due to it.
Due to that experience, I'm of the opinion that something should indeed be confirmed to truly be a policy violation rather than only going off small triggers.
