I'm almost at 2k rep on MSE :DDDDDDD

@Feeds .... has a really bad aftertaste when you realize that currently the majority of countries governments are downplaying the still lingering presence of covid as "nothing more dangerous that a flu" whilst also removing any form of restriction (masks etc)

10:06 AM
@starball yay! Believe me, reaching 20k is easier and faster than you can imagine. ;)
@Mithical hey, פורים didn't start yet, why did you disguise yourself as @tripleee? :P
@Mithical boink
@SPArcheon well either COVID potency actually reduced to be indeed nothing more than flu, or it was all one gigantic scam, worldwide, even worse than the worst conspiracy theories.
I choose to believe the first, even if a lie. I want to keep my sanity, at least. :D

@ShadowWizardChasingStars Thing is, there's some worrying stuff about long-lasting covid damage out there. If even half of that is true, we're in for a ride, as people get infected several times with 'mild' variants and just collect more damage over time.
I haven't had time to fact-check stuff, to see what's actually preliminary research results or just rumours... but the existence of people that never recovered fully from even 1 infection with covid does make me wonder.

Sure, the "long covid" as I know the term is real, people do have long last effects. Still, not fatal, those are things they can live with.

10:24 AM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars Except... if this thing goes round 'like a cold' and is treated as such, but each round affects more people with long covid, eventually you will have so many sick people that can't take care of their own subsistence, that society as a whole will have a massive problem.

@ShadowWizardChasingStars :O interesting. I'm completely satisified on SO with just 3k, and I expect I'll be satisfied with 2k or 3k on MSE.

@Tinkeringbell eh . . . No.
Long covid is not a unique phenomenon, as you know. Many viruses enter latent phases, a lot of them eventually leading to debilitating conditions. The society continues as usual.
If it's not a life-disrupting pandemic, any contagious disease is more manageable
I haven't checked if there are reliable stats for the prevalence of latent infection. But it's not like everyone with malaise and covid antibodies in their serum will end up with something horrible, far from it

11:29 AM
@M.A.R. Problem is, that is not what @Tinkeringbell said.
It is not an issue of "latent infection" . The issue is that in some cases the infection causes permanent damage
and recently it was also noticed that those effects apparently interact with some other infections. See for example the fuss about covid interacting with zoster.

Yeah, that wasn't really what I was talking about. More that a.) There seems to be research confirming that the more often you get a covid infection, the more likely you are to develop long covid and b.) That there are people with long covid that really can't work/care for themselves, like they need help with their household tasks.

So, if both are true, more and more people will eventually get long covid, be unable to work/care for themselves/require help, and society as a whole will have to provide that for those people and have a problem.

Did I ever mention that back when I just got my apartment, I kept getting mail that wasn't for my address and for me? I thought it stopped, but no... just got a notification that there's mail for me on the way and it's the same fucking thing: Not for my name, not for my street. Just the postal code, town and house number that match.
AAAGH

2:05 PM
@Tinkeringbell A [redacted] of a mailman we once had working in my area had the habit to toss mail in the trash to avoid having to deliver it. Then the idiot suddenly disappeared, hopefully fired.
@Tinkeringbell also, this happened to me too, which only reinforces that weird felling that you are secretly living next to me.

simple solutrion. Set the annoying neighbour on fire
then you'll know

@JourneymanGeek I mean, he smokes. I wouldn't mind a 'spontaneous combustion', or 'human wick effect' happening to him ;)
But I'm not gonna take risks and try to commit a perfect crime, I know I don't have the discipline for that.

2:25 PM
pfft. everyone needs a death ray in their home

2:47 PM
@Tinkeringbell probably someone that lived there long ago, changed their official address to it, and never changed it after moving.
@SPArcheon you said the "i" word! :P
@JourneymanGeek @SPA has

You confuse a withering expression of your uncouthness with death

@ShadowWizardChasingStars No. Can't be, the address (house number) did never exist before my apartment was built

@JourneymanGeek hmm but it's still scary
@Tinkeringbell oh, so just some clerk mistake. Probably didn't have enough coffee, or bad hair day, so mistyped something and nobody ever fixed it. ;)

3:33 PM
@SPArcheon yes, that is not a unique phenomenon. HPV and EBV can also cause "permanent damage". A simple strep throat as a child can cause permanent damage. I'm saying "it will become a massive problem as people with Long Covid will keep rising in numbers until it will be a massive problem" is too unnecessarily bleak.

4:21 PM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars No, it's handwritten, probably a Christmas card. It's really stupid, to do that same mistake two years in a row.

I just posted what turned out to be a kinda pointless duplicate, but I feel like I tried to do due diligence before posting. I don't want to whine about my error, but I would appreciate some pointers from the community so I don't do it again.
My first check was to try to search questions using what I guessed might be helpful keywords, basically "reopen review bug site-specific reason." When that only pulled up 12 results, I tried "reopen review bug site-specific" and "reopen review site-specific reason." None of those found the relevant one, so I started to type up the question.
My second check was the "similar questions" list, which had even less-relevant suggestions. (In fact, when I tried to re-enter the question again just now, it didn't even find the first question I posted!)

While writing/before posting the system gives possible dupes as well. If nothing turned up, the dupe isn't pointless, as it is now a sign/pointer with different keywords to the right place for whoever searches next using the 'wrong' keywords

So, what did I do wrong? Am I expecting too much of the "Similar questions" list?
@Tinkeringbell Ah, I see. That makes sense. Thanks.

8:11 PM
effectively
similar questions list relies on the similar questions actually having titles/tags that can be tied to your question
