@Luuklag There's other noodles?
06:53
@Luuklag good choice, it's yummy :D
@Bart ask @Journeyman to send you every day then. ;)
@M.A.R. hehe, well, blame the chef not the food.
@Luuklag yay! But saw you bumped into more walls...
@Luuklag autorice, as in rice being cooked automatically?
@Tinkeringbell You're obviously not the chef of your family ;)
@Luuklag Nope. Most of what I cook is just vegetable, meat, potato :P
@ShadowTheKidWizard I'm slowly getting there. Now asking the customer what their prefered fix is, so that I can wrestle with that.
@Tinkeringbell ah typical dutch "prakje"
@tripleee poof
07:34
@tripleee both gone
@Luuklag what are the options?
07:45
@ShadowTheKidWizard change either the API response, or the XSD that's used to verify the response
@Luuklag Mostly, though I have been doing some variations. This past week, I threw everything in the oven with some garlic, salt and pepper, and bits of brie.
@Luuklag I see. Hope you get it resolved quickly. :)
Is it just me, or are those hands really creepy?
08:03
@ShadowTheKidWizard The whole poster looks like an invite to a demon summoning.
@Tinkeringbell rofl
Well it's invitation for a live show titled "Night Train to Izmir" (city in Turkey)
It's actually word play of a very famous old song, called "Night Train to Cairo", lol.
But can't see the purpose of those hands, or the overall demonic look.
They just stare at me, with those sharp pink nails...
:P
lol
and the hand eyes...
and bracelets of teeeeeeeeeth
And it's not even cheap! 200 NIS, which are about $60
Cheaper than...
YOUR IMMORTAL SOUL
Actually
For this
𝖄𝕺𝖀𝕽 𝕴𝕸𝕸𝕺𝕽𝕿𝕬𝕷 𝕾𝕺𝖀𝕷!
@JourneymanGeek hehe thought @SPA popped in to post it. :D
08:14
@ShadowTheKidWizard In this case. TRUE horror
@JourneymanGeek I think I know that symbol, it's to ward of evil looks or something
and honestly that looks like "Your immoral goul" to me
@JourneymanGeek True Blood is a good TV show. ;)
@JourneymanGeek first glance is Gibberish for me lol
@Tinkeringbell ohh, let me see...
08:16
You just have to squint at it
Hard...
The evil eye (Turkish: Nazar boncuğu ; Greek: μάτι ; Hebrew: עַיִן הָרָע; Romanian: Deochi; Italian: malocchio; Spanish: mal de ojo; Arabic: عين الحسد, ayn al-hasad; Persian: چشم زخم, Cheshm Zakhm; Kazakh: Көз) is a supernatural belief in a curse, brought about by a malevolent glare, usually given to a person when one is unaware. The evil eye dates back about 5,000 years. This iconic symbol is present across various religions and cultures, but most significantly in the Jewish, Muslim, and Christian faiths. The earliest known belief in the power of the evil eye predates ancient Roman and Greek...
This? ^
Then this you do this
Same fingernails too
@Tinkeringbell oh, you're probably right. ;)
@JourneymanGeek wrong color :D
Maybe it was night!
08:22
Wonder what pizza he prefers?
Eye Pizza?
"Waiter! There's a hair on my pizza"
@Tinkeringbell You mean the eye lashes? Not sure they're considered as hair. Maybe they do? hmm
Easy fix though: put inside an oven, no more eye lashes. :P
09:48
@tripleee still still up, others above are gone except for the recent Magento one
@JourneymanGeek oh, yes, another movie on my "someday you will be old enough to read fairy tales again" list. Sadly, it didn't manage to dethrone the horrible message in "Bridge to Terabithia" so that one still holds first place.
oh the still still up one is no longer up, thanks (-:
10:14
What goes up, goes down...
10:34
@Tinkeringbell sounds delicious
@ShadowTheKidWizard The customer even said, change this line into that. Now to get the XSD file downloaded from the website :/
@Luuklag It wasn't too bad, I used just a little too much salt for my taste. projectgezond.nl/… if you want to try.
10:50
@Tinkeringbell maybe someday when I'm having dinner alone. My wife doesn't like brie, and the kids don't like mushrooms

1 hour later…
12:04
@Luuklag sounds like a good customer! :)
@Luuklag Heh. That sounds a bit like how my mom had to cook dinners (and why I picked up the habit of mostly just cooking potato/vegetable/meat dinners). Hard to cook something for 5 that everyone likes or at least doesn't hate
@Tinkeringbell heh, I don't follow recipes. Might use them as reference, but always making food with my own quantities and spices. Sadly, result is usually only I find it edible. :P
@ShadowTheKidWizard I like the recipes from this particular website. They are specifically made to be easy, to be made with commonly available ingredients, and the instructions are very clear. (Though I still find things like 'dash of oil' too subjective :P)
@Tinkeringbell yep, sounds ideal. ;)
This website is part of a larger thing, it's translated as 'project healthy'. They also offer 'diet plans' and cookbooks. I have one of their recipe books at home too, with dishes that aren't on the site.
You can either follow the 8 week meal plan in that book, or just cook your own things. For me, it's mostly about getting a bit more variation in my diet and basically having some built in calorie/portion control in my dinners.
12:39
@Tinkeringbell You need to practice more. Then you'll come to understand the intricate details of a dash
@ShadowTheKidWizard yeah, found a coworker that had an FTP program running, so managed to fix it quite quickly in the end.
@Tinkeringbell Thats also what killed me during my student times, when cooking for myself. Most meat come packaged as two cuts per tray, most pre-pealed potatoes came in 400g bags
Thats a pretty hefty meal when you don't have a lot of physical excersise
Yeah, for me it's more the lack of physical exercise.
And mostly too much meat/'unhealthy meat' (Spekkies,mmmmm) into stuff XD
@Tinkeringbell yeah I love those too. Really need to stop myself from picking some from the pan when I'm cooking those to go with stamppot
13:00
Heh. The recipe I linked, the one with brie, uses 75gr of 'lean' bacon bits for two people. If I make e.g. a stamppot or beetroot, I dump in 150/300 gr. of the non-lean stuff for two portions.
It's something I do without thinking too much about it, because 'that's how mom always did it'.
Mom followed one of their meal plans for a while, and I actually lost weight just having my usual breakfast, lunch, and then the dinners from that meal plan. Granted, I got my threadmill at the same time so my activity also slightly increased... but I'm hoping that cooking more of those recipes/dinners helps.
@Tinkeringbell I usually get those packages that you can separate into 2 pieces, but always end up dumping the whole pack into it. But on the other hand for a family of 5 that isn't too bad. I do try to eat less meat though.
@Luuklag Yeah, I get those too. One half is 150gr, both is 300gr :)
I used to follow a no-carb diet for a while, that did help, but as soon as I stopped the weight came back pretty quickly
The only thing that stayed was having Yoghurt for breakfast
I don't really try to eat less meat, mostly because I don't like other sources of protein like beans or vegetarian 'meat'.
@Tinkeringbell You can also just skip protein for dinner some days, not that big of a deal. The general Dutch diet has way too much protein anyways
13:03
@Tinkeringbell hm, are you a weight or volume person? :D
@Luuklag Yeah. The whole idea of that 'project gezond' is that it isn't a diet, they are all sorts of recipes that you can always eat for the rest of your life... so no bouncing back if you just keep them integrated into your lifestyle
@JourneymanGeek Probably both. My weight makes that I have quite a bit of volume too :D
2
Cause I realised there's 3 kinds of cooking culture, and mixes of it, weight, volume and by eye. My mom does stuff by volume in 'bulk' and by eye when actually cooking
@Tinkeringbell yeah my wife follows this "lazyfitgirl" thing on instagram, those things are also quite helpful sometimes
@Tinkeringbell .....
Not what I meant ._.
for cooking
@Luuklag Yeah, I know. It's just that I don't like most recipes that try to replace meat, but I do sometimes eat fries without a frikandel ;)
13:05
@Tinkeringbell You take a kaassoufle instead?
Ayo garlic mushrooms with brie, potatoes, and bacon?
Sign me up
@Spevacus they left quite a while ago, Ayo
@JourneymanGeek I'm still both ;) Stuff like vegetables and meat and such, I prefer to do by weight. But I also have measuring tools for volume, liquids go by volume and most spices and dried herbs too. Fresh herbs go by weight though.
The Google translate on this article has some interesting additions
> Serve this dish nicely? Put it with baking paper and all in a shallow baking dish.
13:07
Garlic goes in cloves, which is another thing... some cloves are much bigger than others at times, so ...
@Tinkeringbell ah, but not by eye
I try to average them out XD
@Tinkeringbell "looks right" is a measurement
I guess the garlic is 'by eye' then?
@Tinkeringbell and you can hardly have too much garlic anyways
2
13:08
@Spevacus If translate botches the recipe and you want me to translate it more properly, lemme know :)
snort
I once used half a clove for a single serving of pasta...
@Luuklag Ehh, I'm only just starting. I need to get used to it.
@JourneymanGeek Do I have a recipe for you :D projectgezond.nl/penne-met-romige-knoflooksaus takes six cloves.
For two servings. And the tip sections mentions 8 is good too :P
@Tinkeringbell ... I mean half a head :D
@Tinkeringbell a late Mr Ash felt it was too much garlic to let me eat by myself
@Tinkeringbell sounds good, but why set everything aside after you did something. Make sure everything is cooked at the same time, so you can combine all at aonce
@JourneymanGeek That's about six cloves, right? :P And if you added quite a bit of paste, that's about the same as that recipe :P
@Luuklag Probably for simplicity. One step at a time ;)
I know I struggle if I have to juggle three things at once, sometimes :)
And if you misjudge, it becomes easy to e.g. burn your garlic because the pasta is done, or your sauce...
13:12
lol
@Tinkeringbell I think around there
Or have your sauce ready but not the pasta, and then overcook the sauce (let too much moisture evaporate).
These recipes are really made to be 'fool-proof'
If you're a true kitchen prince, of course you're free to just do everything at once :P
lol
that's why you keep pasta water around
Letting the pasta cool down before mixing it in may also help prevent overcooking? I dunno.
Anyhow, it's just a recipe. If you want to do things differently you certainly can :)
@Tinkeringbell you rinse off the starch, so you prevent the pasta from sticking to each other. You could also add a dash of oil and mix well
Ah. To be honest the times I've made it so far, I skipped the rinsing step XD
Just put it in a sieve in the sink and continue with the rest XD By the time I've managed to mince six cloves of garlic, the pasta is cold XD
My usual order is 'boil water, add pasta, let cook' and while cooking I start cleaning and mincing the garlic, making the bouillion, and grating the cheese. Only after I have everything cut and portioned, I continue XD
I often already have the kip marinaded, yesterday I made this and let the chicken sit for an afternoon, I found it more tasty that way.
13:30
Poor chicken.
:D
At least let it watch TV! ;)
It had company of other things in the refrigerator.
@Tinkeringbell You are supposed to do the prep before you start cooking XD
@Tinkeringbell oh, thought you let it sit outside, so inside the refrigerator is fine. This way it won't get hungry too. :D
@DavidPostill Yeah, mostly true :P
But since the pasta needs to sit/cool anyways, might as well start boiling straight away like the recipe says ;)
@Tinkeringbell No it doesn't. You drain it and then serve straight away.
13:43
also, I make pasta in a frying pan with very little water :D
also I cook pasta from cold water. Like a barbarian >_>
@JourneymanGeek Yeah, I do that with left over cooked pasta - fry it that is - yummy.
@DavidPostill Oh I mean from dry :D
@DavidPostill >_>
Basically everyone in my family does it differently wrong
I use the 'modern' low water pasta heats in the water method
and my parents overcook it
also there's no wrong way other than how my parents do it :D
(tho they think I undercook pasta ._.)
I just boil the pasta in water, that's it... Keep It Simple. :D
Though kids eat mainly rice.
13:48
@ShadowTheKidWizard Israel is asia after all ;)
@ShadowTheKidWizard rice is another thing people have religious wars about :D
@Luuklag lol yeah, didn't think of that! :P
@JourneymanGeek how often do you wash yours before cooking?
@JourneymanGeek that's why I make two kinds of rice every time: plain, and "yellow". Really! :)
@Luuklag until it runs clear
13:51
@JourneymanGeek thats infinite more times then I do xD
@JourneymanGeek I only use just enough water to cover the pasta anyway.
@DavidPostill In that case, yeah, do all the prep first. :P
@Luuklag same, I just buy rice that's already rinsed and washed.
@Luuklag I read in the west the rice is 'cleaned' more so you don't need to
or you're a absolute barbarian and get the stuff you boil in a bag
@JourneymanGeek hey Israel isn't West. Or are we? :D
West Asia
13:53
I just buy my rice in single portioned bags. Throw bag in boiling water, let boil for 10 minutes, take little baggy from water, let drain (bag has holes), cut open and dump on a plate
@ShadowTheKidWizard I was referring to @Luuklag actually
@Tinkeringbell My mom would never let me live it down
@Tinkeringbell that's... genius! :D
I use a rice cooker
I only use fusilli wholewheat pasta which cooks a bit differently to the the long sticks.
I usually put one cup of rice and two cups of water.
13:54
@JourneymanGeek I honestly have no clue, perhaps we need to rinse it if we buy those 20kg bags form the toko, but most food here has very strict hygene rules, so no place for filth inside your rise
@JourneymanGeek I just use a pot with water
@Luuklag oh its not for dirt
its to remove excess starch
@Luuklag funny, here we have chunks of mice, birds, and snails in our frozen vegetables.
@ShadowTheKidWizard wtf
especially if you're using a rice cooker, I think its less an issue with the absorption method
@JourneymanGeek I never noticed my rice having too much starch. Then again I usually don't use white rice, so they didn't polish that.
13:55
@ShadowTheKidWizard lassie.nl/producten/builtjes-toverrijst :P It's also a lot more expensive than just buying rice, but well...
@Luuklag ynetnews.com/business/article/byj11ytxyi It was like that always, just the media never paid much attention until that case.
@Luuklag that could be it
@Tinkeringbell that too
tho it makes sense if you're cooking for yourself
same reason I'll likely buy 1kg bags rather than 5 kg ones
Just as much as just using a scale to measure out a single portion :P
@Tinkeringbell well yes, you pay for luxury. :D
13:57
or risotto rice, which is something completely different ofcourse
There's really no other reason to buy one than laziness, and 'it saves using a sieve'
access denied :D
@Luuklag ya
@JourneymanGeek my link?
@Luuklag Persian for me
@Tinkeringbell I dump a cup into a rice cooker. wash and drain it in the container, add enough water to cover + one finger joint height... and press the button
13:58
@Tinkeringbell Prep starts when I remember to take the mince out of the freezer. I make my own sauces.
@JourneymanGeek which finger, they differ greatly in length
@JourneymanGeek rice cooker? Nice, I just use ordinary pot.
@Luuklag you should see a doctor.
@Luuklag it roughly evens out
13:59
@DavidPostill Well the recipe we were discussing also is entirely self-made :) No boxes or jars involved :D
the one next to the thumb
Also doesn't include mince though :P
@DavidPostill making a nice slow cooked bolognese, delicious!
@Luuklag Yeah, I start prep about 2 hours before I eat. So around 1 1/2 hours simmering. I make enough for 2/3 meals depending on how greedy I am.
@DavidPostill yeah I might do that in the weekends
14:03
The only thing I don't make myself is the tomato sauce.
I'm still looking for one of those things my parents had. It was basically a plate you could put inbetween your stove and your pot, so you could reduce temperature even further, and have a bit more indirect heat to your pot, so you don't need to stir continously. Shame they were made from asbestos
@Luuklag Yeah, me too. Then I have meals in the week sorted. The sauce can also be used with rice or potato dishes ;)
@DavidPostill make it a curry ;)
Yuk no. I don't like the taste of curry.
14:05
@DavidPostill of Stephen Curry?!
@Luuklag I just stir every 15/20 mins.
But the plate sounds like a good idea.
@Luuklag uhhh,Except the asbestos
@JourneymanGeek yeah, thats why I'm looking for a modern version
@Luuklag in theory a slow cooker would do the same thing
@JourneymanGeek true
but such a plate takes up far less space in your kitchen cabinets
14:07
or something with a large thermal mass
asbestos was basically stone fibers.
They are called heat diffusers.
@DavidPostill yeah those look like it. Appears there are plenty of those. Might need to check out "bol.com" for some then.
Make sure you get the right one for your type of stove.
Also called burner plates
@JourneymanGeek Indeed. But here electric is very expensive cf gas :/
14:49
@DavidPostill funny you mentioned Amazon... whatever trust I had in them, today I've lost
@SPArcheon What have they done now?
well, let me sum that up in two pictures.
@SPArcheon they ate your parcel?
"We are proud to launch the new "By Invite" feature to avoid scalping"...
they sent the "invites" today around 12:00...
about 5 minutes later....
worked GREAT!
14:53
As long as there is demand.
And this is even more shady than the usual "first comes first served" because it is not even guaranteed to be based on order.
15:07
The scalpers automated the invitation requests?
@MetaAndrewT. Amazon does not even disclose HOW the checks are made, so by now I assume there are none and it is just random.
Anyway, whatever they tried, it didn't work.
And by now I wouldn't exclude the possibility that some insiders had their work even easier now....
Why using bots when you can just decide who gets the invites?
@SPArcheon I don't understand, to be honest. Those with invitation got a discount. What is the problem or wrong-doing?
Also, the cheaper price might be for used console, the second screenshot is for brand new console only.
15:28
@ShadowTheKidWizard Either you are pranking me, in which case... don't
or you haven't understand the two screens at all.
Amazon started selling the PS5 console on a "By invite" thing. You request an invite and then on some set dates they choose some users that are granted the ability to buy the actual thing.
@SPArcheon oh, never seen that, so yeah didn't understand.
Sounds almost like scam, and I'd never trust such thing anyway, so less relevant for me, but since I never liked Amazon in the first place, it doesn't reduce my non-existing trust in them. ;)
This they claim is to avoid scalping - they check the requesting account to be sure it is an actual one, non bot and with a story that indicates they don't plan to resell the item (so, the fact you bought 20 Switch console limited Zelda edition should tell them you are a scalper for example)
Also, it's a two years old product, there's no way there's suddenly "high demand". It's purely some trick of their side.
Yet, minutes later the invites were sold Ebay and other similar sites got a wave of new auctions for PS5.
Some more $$$ to Jeff pocket.
@SPArcheon duh, they gave it to people who paid them a commission.
15:34
"Patrick, is that you?"
Spongebob, mistaking @ShadowTheKidWizard for his friend who lives under a rock.
Rich people always want more, that's how they become rich and stay rich.
So... my guess now is they did all of this to find the scalpers and contact them, so they can get extra money from it.
Perhaps critical info: There's been a continuing low stock issue for PS5 since the first release.
@ShadowTheKidWizard maybe you don't know but there have been problems with the PS5 availability since launch because Sony was "stupid" enough to push power to the point of releasing a console they can't find enough components to produce
@SPArcheon two years? Well guess I have some reading to do.
That's why it's harder to get a PS5 console than a PS5 game...
15:36
So... yep, there is high demand for ps5 because most people that want to buy it CAN'T
@SPArcheon and there's was a shortage of everything
courtesy of somepony who made it
@JourneymanGeek I heard graphic cards were affected heavily too since last few years, but then I also heard it's now under recovery
@SPArcheon weird, I'm almost sure people here in Israel never had problem buying one, got couple of friends who got it shortly after being released, but never tried to buy myself.
@JourneymanGeek rice? ;)
@MetaAndrewT. cause crypto crashed
15:39
@JourneymanGeek sell the console from your site, ask the buyer to provide their PSN account, bind the account to the console... let's see who will be able so sell a scalped console that way....
@SPArcheon then people can't transfer it, and no one else can sell it and they'd need to handle logistics...
However, today coworkers here talked about how people can't even pre-order electric cars these days, now that's a huge shortage. Not only Tesla, the Chinese brands too.
@JourneymanGeek I see the first two as a feature.
Less hacking too.
And also a shortage of internet bandwidth to SE server?
After a few years..
15:41
@MetaAndrewT. due to some bad people who DDoS'ing yeah :/
@MetaAndrewT. Some day I'd love to know why
not that we ever will
perhaps internet is dying... way before Web3 (or whatever that is) arises...
@JourneymanGeek just make the un-link process annoying enough (contact them by mail, fill form etc) that is still doable but no one wants to do it if possible
@SPArcheon I suspect it'll normalise post covid
or require to wait for 1 year before unlink, sometimes time restriction helps
(not looking at you, Play Store...)
15:43
lol
I admire Google for banning Trump, very brave considering he's still powerful, and Apple let him go wild. (talking about his "Social media" platform, Truth something)
@MetaAndrewT. even 6 months would be enough... if the scalper can't be sure to sell before six month it should become far less desirableness to bet on scalping things.
or just ban the practice at law level like some countries do.
16:01
Anyway, in the meantime it is quite nice to see Amazon banishing all mentions of "your invite thing don't work consoles are being sold on EBAY" to Azarath
questions and review popping out of existence constantly.
16:51
265 messages in ~12 hours, that's nice. No tumbleweed today. :D

2 hours later…
19:01
@ShadowTheKidWizard wait, how does Google ban someone?
@ShadowTheKidWizard did you . . . Actually count them
