6:53 AM
looking sadly at two days old smoke, starting to rot
Note to self: cross site spammer, report if/when JNat will be back to spam hunting.
@M.A.R. can smoke really rot? Does it have mold at some point? :D

Hey! Poor old smoke... :D
@tripleee wasn't it reported by Smokey?

it was, but I assume not in this room, since I don't see a notice and it's still up
oh wait, my bad, it's gone

it got flag-addoned before I got to it, so I also nuked the user

Today's eating: (in couple of hours)
Bolognese sauce (UK: , US: ; known in Italian as ragù alla bolognese, pronounced [raˈɡu alla boloɲˈɲeːse, -eːze], ragù bolognese, or simply ragù) is a meat-based sauce in Italian cuisine, typical of the city of Bologna. It is customarily used to dress tagliatelle al ragù and to prepare lasagne alla bolognese. Genuine ragù alla bolognese is a slowly cooked meat-based sauce, and its preparation involves several techniques, including sweating, sautéing and braising. Ingredients include a characteristic soffritto of onion, celery and carrot, different types of minced or finely chopped beef, oft...

Bleeeegh :P
I think I'll have some bread and cheese. And maybe an ice lolly this afternoon. I promised the construction workers ice cream/ice lollies because the weather is kinda hot!

@Tinkeringbell lol
going to work for @Tink in order to get ice lolly as well

Hey, mom taught me that you treat construction workers well, just to make sure they do their job well ;)
It's not an easy job, especially not in temperatures like this one.
If you're ever in the Netherlands, let me know and I'll deliver you an ice lolly if I have the time for it.

8:55 AM
@Tinkeringbell their still building on your house?
@Tinkeringbell And they usually work harder when their well fed ;)

@Luuklag I'm getting that 'afdak' this week.
@Luuklag Exactly ;) I offered them a bunch of stuff already, though they just keep working it seems.

@Tinkeringbell Where are you getting one, over your balcony?

@Tinkeringbell yay!

@Luuklag In the back yard. I have a ground floor apartment, remember? :P

9:11 AM
@Tinkeringbell Ah yeah. So you get a place to sit in the shade

Hopefully!
Not entirely shade, I'm getting those milky-white polycarbonate sheets as a roof.

@Tinkeringbell looks nice.

9:37 AM
attempt to reach Facebook support (?) webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/165098

@tripleee flagged for mod attention

thanks, I guess that should suffice

10:17 AM
@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar you can ping me about these — I was on vacation, and have accumulated a bit of a backlog (both of spam reports and just work in general), but will get to these once I have a bit of breathing room ;)

@JNat How was your vacation?

good, thanks ^_^

So your ready to get back to work with "frisse tegenzin"?
wow, now I need to find a translation for that
healthy reluctance would fit I guess

heh, I was able to fully disconnect, so I think I'm not that reluctant to come back ;P

@JNat depends on the amount of emails you got sitting ;)

@Luuklag had over 150

A better question is how many were actionable ._.
/me might have a few thousand emails in his work mailbox ._.

11:08 AM
@JNat cross site spammer added to your backlog, handle in your own time. :)

@Luuklag Yeah, I'm really looking forward to it! :D
They seem to be hard workers too... haven't taken any/much breaks yet, except for me offering them coffee and them having lunch just now.
I don't know how they do it in this weather XD

11:32 AM
@Tinkeringbell What are your workers doing for you>

11:58 AM
@DavidPostill They're building an 'afdak', or 'tuinkamer' (garden room). Something like this:
I'll try and remember to post some pictures on Twitter or something once they're done, probably Saturday ;)

@Tinkeringbell huh, think in Hebrew it's called "pergula" lol
oh it's not really Hebrew
A pergola is an outdoor garden feature forming a shaded walkway, passageway, or sitting area of vertical posts or pillars that usually support cross-beams and a sturdy open lattice, often upon which woody vines are trained. The origin of the word is the Late Latin pergula, referring to a projecting eave. As a type of gazebo, it also may be an extension of a building or serve as protection for an open terrace or a link between pavilions. They are different from green tunnels, with a green tunnel being a type of road under a canopy of trees. Pergolas are sometimes confused with "arbors," as the...
:D
@DavidPostill working ;)

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Yeah, definitely a different thing though. A pergola is more natural, it incorporates wood and plants. Mine will be all aluminum and plastic :)

@Tinkeringbell not very ecological.... ;-)
Not that it matters, it's not like you throw it away one day.
And it should last longer.

I hope not! And yeah, it may not be the most ecological option, but sometimes you've got to do something to enjoy life ;)

@Tinkeringbell like eating steaks! :D

12:11 PM
steak is overrated, I think. I don't like it as much as a good chicken burger or fish XD
Talking about meat... there's been some farmer's protests here again, because there's pretty harsh plans to reduce farming because it's seen as an easy way to solve nitrogen problems. (not sure about the details and if it really is farmers that do the most damage or who are just the easiest way to reach targets).
One of the protests last night involved stopping preventing a diesel train from leaving a station by blocking the crossing with tractors, and putting a symbolical chain on it.
They had an epv to get people to where they need to be, whole thing lasted about 1,5 hours.
It's funny to see how differently media writes about this. The national news sent out an article yesterday evening mentioning the epv and getting travellers to their destination that way.
Another news outlet I frequently read only now reported about it, as the train operators are going to file charges against the farmers. They don't mention the EPV, and are very heavy on the 'parking your vehicle on a railway crossing ist verboten' angle.
Never seen them do framing like that, it's disappointing.

12:41 PM
Payfast integration at -8 so off the homepage, need 2 more votes. @rene @Spe @Mithical @Sonic
@Tinkeringbell oh, for me it really depends how well it's done, e.g. my brother make the best steaks I know, and some restaurants also do it really good, but at some places it's really not that good, I agree.

Well then I apparently never had a good one ;)

Burger or fish are safer bets, no doubt.
@Tinkeringbell when you're in Israel I'll ask my brother to make one for you. :D
@Tinkeringbell easy way, they never do it for the good of the people. :)
@Tinkeringbell yeah, that's worldwide problem with media, that it's biased. ;(

Yeah, I know it's a worldwide problem, I just wouldn't have expected one of the ones I frequent to stoop that low.

In Israel we have major newspaper/online news websites which are clearly "right winged", and the others, well, "anti right wing" and it's painfully clear from the way they write the articles.
@Tinkeringbell true. Well stoopwaffle is better! :D
!!/stoopwaffle

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar No such command 'stoopwaffle'.

XD
'stroopwafel'.
Don't forget the 'r', it's important!

ohh
rrr
becoming Shadow Pirate
Anyway on which side are you, in that farmers issue? @Tink

The one that keeps my vegetables and meat cheap. Not sure which one that is, yet.

@Tinkeringbell probably those who the farmers protest against, their (the farmers') interest is to have the prices higher. No?

Not really, the government really wants to restrict farming which may also increase prices as that would mean less produce available. But then again there's talk of a lot of stuff that's farmed here being exported, and a lot of stuff that we eat actually being imported again, so who knows/can say...

1:00 PM
@Tinkeringbell yeah, it's a mess. :/
But all in all, looks like it would boil down to politics, who has more lobbyists in the parliament, i.e. more political power. Nothing related to environment or the farmers themselves.

Yeah, it's indeed one big mess.

1:37 PM
@Tinkeringbell Stroopwafel = very yummy :D

@JNat oh thats like nothing. Thats about the backlog I currently have, from nothing special really xD
@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar I am, its kinda my job

@Luuklag Which side? :P
@Mithrandir24601 I agree!

!!/stroopwafel

@Mithrandir24601 No such command 'stroopwafel'.

:(
!!/tea

1:48 PM
@Mithrandir24601 brews a cup of green tea for @Mithrandir24601

@Tinkeringbell I'm not really taking any side. The proposed plans are devestating for individual farmers, but at the same time a necessity for the environment.
This discussion has been going on since the 1980's, and all that time there were technical solution, that just furthered the growth of the dairy industry. At this point there is no other solution left
At the same time the maps that were produced to indicate how much Ammonia emissions need to be cut where, are a complete farce. They rely on models that represent a lot but the true situation
For example Rottermeroog needs to cut their emissions by 70+%, but there lives no-one there.

@Tinkeringbell That's a Conservatory or Sunroom in English
A sunroom, also frequently called a solarium (and sometimes a "Florida room", "garden conservatory", "garden room", "patio room", "sun parlor", "sun porch", "three season room" or "winter garden"), is a room that permits abundant daylight and views of the landscape while sheltering from adverse weather. Sunroom and solarium have the same denotation: solarium is Latin for "place of sun[light]". Solaria of various forms have been erected throughout European history. Currently, the sunroom or solarium is popular in Europe, Canada, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. Sunrooms may feature...

2:06 PM
@DavidPostill Ah, okay :D Well they have most of the frame standing already, they were going home at about 15:30. As long as the work is done by Friday, I don't mind ;)

@Tinkeringbell when you start at 6:00 that's a pretty decent workday ;)

Hahaha no... I think they were here at 8-ish? To be honest I didn't pay attention which is not so great, as now I don't know if I'll have time early tomorrow morning to go get some fresh bread and stuff for offering them lunch :D
Oh well, I can go get some tonight.
No problem :)

@Tinkeringbell I'm pretty sure they brought their own lunch ;)
As long there is coffee, or some cold drinks in this weather they'll be happy

@Luuklag They did, but I offered to get them lunch tomorrow so they don't have to haul 'koelboxen' in this weather.

@Tinkeringbell Put an order in at your local cafetaria xD

2:19 PM
That's not for Thursdays, that's for Fridays :P
I got them ice lollies, cookies... they didn't seem too big on drinking coffee, and I also don't think they took any soda or water from the fridge... but I did see them get ice lollies at least twice, so that's okay ;)
They also preferred to sit outside on the 'cold tiles' instead of inside on a chair for lunch XD
