hm
Didn't the SO podcasts have transcripts?

not by default
those that did, were added after the fact

2:42 AM
Oh, its there, just kinda hard to find from the blog-facing instance

Rob
3:09 AM
@JourneymanGeek It is tough to find: Click on it, share; but don't, dismiss the sharing, ending up here; with a Tab to choose the transcript (whew!): the-stack-overflow-podcast.simplecast.com/episodes/… the-stack-overflow-podcast.simplecast.com/episodes/…

3:20 AM
@Rob .... I was hoping I was being dumb and missing it, but... yes
(naturally I metaed it :D )

@forestdistrustsStackExchange good way to get suspended, and finally force the developers to put a limit, I guess. ;)

@forestdistrustsStackExchange you could ask before you upload a gigabyte of data :D

@forestdistrustsStackExchange technically that is possible, at least the backing field supports a lot: meta.stackexchange.com/a/297928

The limit is at least several megabytes (warning: lot of text), as was accidentally tested once via a chatbot bug.

@JourneymanGeek ask who? There's no chat developer these days.

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Precisely why making noise is a good thing :S

7:03 AM
@rene wow, lol

7:18 AM
@Journeyman pointing towards flags queue (better handle quickly before it cause more fuss.)

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard I've been dealing with related issues for a bit. I'll keep an eye on it, and think about it

@RyanM haha bot on the loose. Smokey just reposted the entire transcript of the day?

@JourneymanGeek OK, your call.

@Luuklag the entire git log, I believe

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard heh just need to cross all the Is and dot all the Ts. Or something

7:24 AM
Also, it's a known MSE troll, so it should make the decision easier. Just saying. :)

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard We are still supposed to look at the posts, not the users that posted them (with the exceptions of perhaps socks bypassing system restrictions). It's ... not a very unreasonable post, there is some precedence for people asking to add countries to that list. I'm afraid some trolls get smarter to the point of actually becoming useful sometimes.... If anything, best not to feed it.

@Tinkeringbell not talking about a post. It's about user display name.
(sorry if wasn't clear enough in the flag?)

@Tinkeringbell One moment :D

No need to superping me, I'm here :P

7:32 AM
Flowers are lovelly :D

Hat-ers gonna hat?

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard I guess I missed a step. Sorry :)

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard She's dealing with another thing :D

@MetaAndrewT. Pun makers gonna be pun-ched? :P
@JourneymanGeek oh, lol
I don't have issue with the post, it's a legit request.

:D
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard I think it'll get community closed cause its in the wrong place

7:35 AM
@JourneymanGeek meh, won't mind it. ;)

@JourneymanGeek ? Not really, to be honest.
If I was I wouldn't be chatting here killing time XD
@MetaAndrewT. Reading that post this morning reminded me of interpersonal.meta.stackexchange.com/a/1389/1599
> You may have intended to communicate these concerns via the term "militant", but all you're really conveying is your own perception of this person; if we were sitting down over a pitcher of beer and plate of nachos such a description would aid in commiseration with you, but does little to help further our understanding of the person that you wish to communicate with.

True...

TIL moderators can remove Community Wiki status from a post

Or we can try to?

Ha. If I were guessing, the user put it back around the time they commented "Thanks! I made it community wiki so you can improve it."

7:45 AM
@RyanM it was removed, reputation summary proves it, but then it was made CW again somehow.

the wierd thing is - there's no record of it on the timeline.

@RyanM yeah, in that case the bug is in the timeline/revisions as there's no trace for this.

Yeah, mods can un-CW posts, usually for answers that get (accidentally) automatically converted to CW

@JourneymanGeek Want to do an experiment? I can post an answer on Tink's question and then convert it to community wiki, and then you can remove the status, and then I can try to change it back, and we can see what happens...
or we can wait for staff to figure it out :-)

Q: Undoing community wiki as a moderator rewrites history

Mad ScientistModerators have the ability to make a post community wiki and also to remove the community wiki status from any post. But there are several issues with how this is recorded in the revision history, the moderator-only post timeline (/admin/posts/timeline/) and the moderator action history (/admin/...

7:49 AM
@RyanM I'll do the latter

Not same issue, but looks like something is still off, and was first reported there.

I have too much on for science

heh, sounds good :-) hence asking before doing it
Yeah that definitely seems similar...not exactly the same, but reaalllllyy similar.

On an unrelated note: Cardaino got its first HNQ after going public?

7:52 AM
@RyanM I'll accompany your science on meta.android.se if you want

@RyanM That's why I guessed as much too, and put that in the question ;)
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Well something seems fixed at least, since the entry of it being made community wiki in the first place remained after community wiki was removed.

@Tinkeringbell yup, but the fix isn't... complete. @Yaakov isn't pingable yet..

@MetaAndrewT. posted, waiting out grace period before editing to CW

noted~
I thought you're going to set it as CW directly XD

hmmm, I was going for as similar as possible to the MSE post

7:57 AM
fair point
let's try 3 times on the same post (aka "CW/un-CW war") to see the behavior

@MetaAndrewT. okay, it's CW

@RyanM okay, un-CW'ed

and it's CW again, with no second timeline entry

repro'd. I'm going to add comment and 3rd-party edit to break the grace period first
@RyanM un-CW'ed, no subsequent timeline entry

huh, yep, not for either of us...want me to switch it back to CW again?

8:04 AM
also, the revision history didn't show the subsequent CW/un-CW either
@RyanM sure

Yep, once again, nothing in the post history. Well, that answers what happened :-)

Yep, the real bug is: no timeline & revision history entry for subsequent CW/un-CW
@RyanM btw, I'm going to delete your answer. Thanks for the science :p

Np, you too :-) went ahead and deleted it myself just in case the system thinks I did something bad to force a moderator to do it for me :-)

flags everything anyway
:D

Also preserved a screenshot for posterity

8:18 AM
great, now I'm seeing "subsequent" word too often until my brain thinks that's not a real word...

Rob
It's calculated OTF.

@MetaAndrewT. Its not

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard brews a cup of Latte for @Ayo

8:24 AM
Got a feeling you need it. ;)

Ayo
Hahaha!! I literally just got hot chocolate

:)
@Ayo you made it yourself?
Or from a vending machine?

Ayo
Naa, I went to a local restaurant close by, haha

Ayo
Hehe

8:26 AM
Hot chocolate from restaurant?! Feels off, lol :D
Why not coffee?

Hot chocolate is nice :) With or without whipped cream? :D

Oooh. That's enough for 5 people for a week though XD

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Do you want me to start vomiting?

@Luuklag It was the panda or Taylor Swift... and I know my audience

8:29 AM
@Tinkeringbell or 1 Shadow for ~10 minutes. :D

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Then you're even more of a choc-o-holic than me ;)

@Luuklag nah, it'll ruin my appetite. ;)
@Tinkeringbell I am! eating chocolate to prove it :D

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard No chocolate for me today :( Or I should get sprinkles on my bread for lunch, but... I think there's still some other toppings left that I should get some from first, before my brother/dad eat all of those again without me having had any XD

@Tinkeringbell lol just buy something yourself. No? ;)

8:33 AM
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard I would first need my own fridge to keep such stuff in. Otherwise, I'd be paying for my brother and dad to eat my stuff XD

I buy good stuff for myself sometimes and put high in the fridge, yet my son keep finding it, taking chair, and eating it. :P

Just a few more months, and I won't have these problems anymore.

@Tinkeringbell well doesn't have to be in fridge... ;)

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Eh, it's best if from the fridge though.

8:44 AM
@Tinkeringbell what topings are that?

@Luuklag Grilworst. The good kind, from the butcher shop :D

yeah best keep that refrigerated

Ayo
@Tinkeringbell You know it! Haha

Or eat all of it within ~2 hours, but that's not good XD

lol
As Obi Wan once said...

8:59 AM
@Ayo There used to be this really great shop at the train station back when I was in university. Looked like a flower stand, but also sold coffee/tea/the best hot chocolate I ever had. With whipped cream!

"From a certain point of view"

Ayo
@Tinkeringbell That's exactly how I have it right now, taking a sip right now as we speak :|)

I'm having tea. At least that's hot too (just burned my tongue on it)

Ayo
@Tinkeringbell Haha

I'm having a coffee, best drink there is

9:09 AM
@Luuklag +1

9:43 AM
@Luuklag Second to Kokanee, but I drink far more coffee.

10:34 AM
@Rob salmon?

11:07 AM
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard That seems... fish-tea...

11:40 AM

Good morning and happy half way through the week. :)

Isn't it technically only half way at lunch time?

close enough for horseshoe hand granades?

Every time is lunchtime in Iceland...

I'm past lunch, so I'm fine.

12:56 PM
@rene For this week, and Dutch people at least, it's only halfway after finishing the entire work day :P

true that. But I didn't want to bring in the Dutch angle on this. Too much Debiteuren/Crediteuren

There are so many sites like that...

They're so informational :)

I'm not sure what to be more amazed at, that somebody built and launched it or that it's still up after a decade.

both works :)

1:01 PM
But if you consider it's hosted by someone who calls themself koffieschaap (coffee sheep), it all makes sense, I guess.

going to put both tabs side-to-side on fullscreen at the office

@Mast Ah yes, 't koffieschaap! (kofschip?) :P

LOL I love the different where is the half week point definitions.

lol
Weekdays have no meaning when you work shifts :D

@rene lunchtime has long passed there

@Feeds inherited no-onebox phenomenon...

@MetaAndrewT. lol

Rob
2:00 PM
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Yes, a sockeye for Shadow.
@Luuklag A 🍺 for Luuk.

@Rob Won't have that till about midnight probably, having another horrible deadline today
actually that will be the second deadline
Had to submit a proposal this morning before 11AM, it was submitted at 10:59.

Rob
2:21 PM
@Luuklag Best to stick with Heineken, as no one will sell you their precious Kokanee.

@Rob The only good Heineken is the alcohol free one.
Otherwise I'll stick to my Grolsch

has the parrot started playing Genshin Impact under a fake name?

I don't know, ping the parrot?

Rob
@Luuklag Looks like there reason not to buy that too:
Grolsch Brewery (Koninklijke Grolsch N.V. - "Royal Grolsch"), known simply as Grolsch (Dutch pronunciation: [ɣrɔls]), is a Dutch brewery founded in 1615 by Willem Neerfeldt in Groenlo. In 1895 the de Groen family bought the brewery. They had started their own brewery in Enschede the Netherlands in the early 19th century. It held a significant stake until November 2007. Today the main brewery is located in Enschede. It was awarded the Koninklijk (Royal) title in 1995. The Grolsch brand became a part of the SABMiller group in March 2008.As part of the agreements made with regulators before Anheuser...

what reason @Rob?

2:35 PM
🚽

@Luuklag Ah, groene knuppels :D

2:56 PM

Rob
3:13 PM
@Luuklag Clicking on that gives two reasons in a row, what is your reason to buy only if it's non-alcoholic?

3:26 PM
@Rob I think he likes the taste better

Pretty insulting if you only like the 0% beer. I admit I agree and take the beugel as well

@Mast I wouldn't be that surprised considering the sheer amount of traffic those kind of sites receive (even if some similar sites don't always have ads or trackers, but still)
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard I'm somehow more interested in the size of the cup than the content itself :O where can you even buy cup of that size

3:44 PM
@NordTheLoftyWizard I suspect photoshop

Rob
@rene Yes, but if not Pilsner but Lager instead then surely Eisbock is the preference for alcohol content.

Rob
A fairly low price too.

Rob
4:22 PM
@JourneymanGeek I think he drinks it because Terry and his dad drinks it.

4:32 PM
@DavidPostill nice, thanks for the link :D I know what I'll add to my wishlist now

4:53 PM
There's an interesting proposal on MSO to prevent delete/undelete wars: Rule proposal: one delete/undelete per post
I agree that something needs to be done, but I'm concerned about threatening people with suspensions over it. It'd be far better if the system software could enforce the rule.

@PM2Ring well that would mean we have an effective way to deal with it
Suspensions are a workaround for not wanting to lock a post or for people listening

@JourneymanGeek Very true. :)
It seems like an oversight that the system doesn't prevent it, like multiple close & reopen votes. But I guess we expect 10kers to behave like sensible adults...

5:10 PM
@PM2Ring well there's a reason it happens more on SO
Sheer volume

OTOH, there are people across the network who have 100k+ who persist in answering homework dumps, and who aren't likely to change habits, no matter what arguments are presented to them. And it's not just about rep-farming. Some of these people have said they'd rather stop answering altogether if they can't answer what they choose to.
Volume is certainly a factor, and that anyone whose been active on SO for at least 5 years is likely to have a lot of rep.
I think it's also connected to sites that are likely to get homework questions, like SO and the maths & science sites. You get polarisation in the community regarding how to deal with those questions.

For some reason the old featured posts are still showing up on my sidebar?

Caching?

Of course
How could I forget that

Rob
5:30 PM
@PM2Ring Previously it was SBD, but now it's being reviewed; more of a question: Who runs the ship!

@Rob Thanks

Rob
5:46 PM
Ideally, if a moderator lacks expertise in a particular subject area (and there are a lot of moderators), they should skip the flag; leave it to someone who knows the answer. --- Now they propose that if someone insists that they are correct and votes the same way twice there will be consequences - I guess ideally they must skip the reopening/closing; but previously that wasn't the rule, and how to move forward is under discussion - but that's to be circumvented. - Possibly leaving < ppl.
strongly related discussion at MSO: Rule proposal: one delete/undelete per post (currently featured, tl;dr: moderators try to somehow manually compensate for the absence of a feature requested here) — gnat 10 hours ago

1 hour later…
7:04 PM
@PM2Ring yeah, I mean it's pretty rare for these homework dump to be on other part of the site beside SO (Here I'm comparing this to Unix.SE since I'm more used to that) but at least on Unix.SE, when it do happen, most will either clean the post, or ask for clarification from the OP...very rarely close/vote for closing unless it's spam or something
@Rob I hope this won't affect review queue and the like...

that's unfortunate

@JourneymanGeek I would have thought the same too, but then I recall of similar sized, (think world record kind) ceramic modeling, and when you know that people do much more crazy stuff with 3D printer...it kinda put things into a certain perspective you know?
@KevinB nice pfp. I'm unsure if it's a bat or a butterfly though? (the middle part remind me more of a butterfly)

it's a battleaxe

@KevinB I see. I guess it does now that you mention it :o

i think it looks more like the bat signal

7:11 PM
@KevinB yeah, that's why I asked :) but if you look on the middle, it also kinda look like a butterfly
(you know, the middle part of a butterfly's body)
maybe I'm just biased because I looked at too much butterflies

Rob
@NordTheLoftyWizard It looks like it, you'll be doing your review only to discover that the first flagger has laid a trap for you - vote the same way twice and you are wrong. There's a recent Q&A on MSE by Mach ...

@Rob that is very sad then...and here I thought of stepping up my game and doing more reviews queue :/
welp, just my luck I guess

Rob
One site only, ATM.

@Rob yeah I know -- but it's always happening this way, first it's one site, then another, so on...before you know it, it already spread everywhere and you missed the news about it
and then you get hit by the new regulation/restriction/etc

Rob
@NordTheLoftyWizard You can vote or provide your own solution.

7:16 PM
I wouldn't mind if this was done outside of the review queue, but the fact it also affect people like me who just want to actively contribute every day :/ it's kinda sad is all

the rule they're proposing will impact a number far smaller than the 0.0015% comment

Rob
A new flavor for SO review audits - that we all know and love.

@KevinB yeah, indeed
@Rob ah yes. sarcasm when it get you

the problem is, because there's no site-enforced rule for it at the moment, there's no fair wait to enforce it without creating a policy, or deciding all cases will just remain undeleted.

@Rob done :)

Rob
7:18 PM
Except this time it's a manually applied ban for a correct review.

wouldn't a mod be able to tell if the action was taken from review vs directly?

@Rob Like i get if this was done outside review queue (as in, to protect from spammer/targeted action/etc) but if this is done in good faith, it just hurt the whole "contributing" thing
@KevinB that's a good question. Didn't thought of asking that before :o

Rob
If they dig, but that's not the rule, the rule is don't do it.

I think if you've already reviewed a post (or flagged it, or voted to delete it) it won't be presented to you again?

7:23 PM
even if it enters the queue again a few days later? (i wouldn't know, i don't use the queues)

@Tinkeringbell yes, but what if you do it outside of the review queue (say, because it's on the main board of whatever SE sites or SO) and then it appear in the review queue? (although I'm unsure if this can actually happen, but I wouldn't be surprised)

then it will be reviewed if someone flags it by a mod
it's not an instant or guaranteed ban, i trust our mods can see the difference, since they're the ones proposing it

@KevinB I don't think I ever got to review the same post more than once... At least not before I was a mod. But I admit that was quite a while ago already....
I would argue to kill that beast once it starts bothering people: If you have evidence that people can be served the same post to review twice, and thus inadvertently review in good faith and delete vote twice, then you can write an answer or question on Meta.SO and ask moderators what you or they are supposed to do in such cases ;-)
Since the MSO discussion post mentions enforcement through warnings and suspensions, I kinda trust you'll be warned first and can then immediately raise the issue, instead of having to sit out a 1 year suspension first :P

right, it's basically formalizing "better" (open to disagreement) alternative to locking.
at least, in the case of people disagreeing on whether or not it should be deleted
of course, there's some who believe if there's any disagreement, that's grounds for it to remain open regardless

@KevinB Yeah. This is basically saying that if the votes are divided, you're stuck waiting for a fresh vote to be added to the pile, instead of the same few people engaging in some sort of stale-mate.
I think it's at least slightly better for the people whose questions suffer from these 'wars'....

7:39 PM
depends on the case, quite a few popular off topic questions benefited from the alterative, in that they still exist (in a locked state)

Well locking is also still an option once the discussion moves to meta....
I think locking is one of those things that you mainly only need once your site is >10 years old and it's scope has slightly shifted over time.... And the delete wars seem to be mostly on recent (meta) questions lately if I understood the MSO posts right.

@Tinkeringbell right, but the hard part is knowing when it actually happen. Then again, you mentioned "warning" so I guess it's probably fine either way, since there be a way to hopefully know when it happen in good faith and whatnot

recent allegedly duplicate regexp questions. There's a group of users who routinely delete duplicates 10 or so days after it was closed, and another group who undeletes them, then it ends up on meta
i don't quite understand why they wait till it is deleted to act on the post, unless it's the whole... i just lost rep

@KevinB Ah. Yeah I just play moderator roomba on such questions myself so :P

yeah... i think it makes more sense on meta to just nuke them, SO is a bit different
more nuance
you can't estimate what someone else will search for, while it's incredibly unrealistic to expect someone to do the research to determine whether or not a given sign post isn't already covered by any of the other thousand duplicates

7:53 PM
@Rob I only buy the 0% Heineken if I'm in the mood for beer, but not for alcohol. And to be honest its the only good 0% I've come across so far. All other Heineken just tastes terrible, or has a lack of taste to be more precise, and induces headaches soon after.
I wonder what the two reasons not to buy Grolsch are you see in that Wiki

8:14 PM
@KevinB I was mostly thinking IPS, where some questions still attract 'answers' (read opinions) before being closed ;) But yeah, on meta some duplicates are better off deleted to, though most of the time that's because the comment section just won't shut up and starts talking about beer and pineapple on pizza too.

I just had pineapple on my pizza :)

Rob
Carelessness and customer fraud.

Customer fraud is not really tied to a brand, all major brands were involved, covering 95% of the market. So in that regard I shouldn't drink any beer ;)

@Luuklag I always wondered how the two combined would taste :O (please don't say chicken, although I don't mind it)

@Rob What carelessness do you hint at, the fireworks part?
@NordTheLoftyWizard well pretty much like they do seperately

8:27 PM
@Luuklag hmm, intriguing.

@NordTheLoftyWizard Pizza with chicken and pineapple often still tastes very much like chicken :P

@Tinkeringbell hmmmm maybe we should put chicken tonight on a pizza

@Luuklag gatsie!
2
Though probably better than tomato sauce :P

@Tinkeringbell yeah, I guess the chicken taste overtake everything else hmm

@NordTheLoftyWizard My favorite pizza (in fact, one of the few I'll actually eat without gagging) is one with a barbecue sauce (instead of tomato puree), chicken, kebab, and pineapple ;)

8:30 PM
@Tinkeringbell sounds nice, although I never tried pineapple on pizza myself
I'm still wondering: how do you even make those stereotypical pizza with tons of cheese? like the one you see on movies I mean (eg: where someone take a slice and the cheese just won't stop coming out)

@NordTheLoftyWizard That's glue, not cheese.

take a pizza, and add cheese
then add some more chees

and some more cheese

@Tinkeringbell WHAT??!! I was fooled all this time O-O

8:32 PM
imo cheese that does that is irritating anyway

@Luuklag see, I tried that, but then the cheese somehow make a more solid thing because of the heat, and doesn't look like the ones in the movies trope

@KevinB You were born with front teeth, you use those to gnaw your way through :P

always happens with cheese in taco soup

@KevinB I would think so too, but it always seemed good when looking at it (only saw them in movies though)

@KevinB taco soup? What kind of .... nevermind.

8:33 PM
it's very similar to chili

@Tinkeringbell You can make soup of any leftovers, ask my dad

@KevinB right, I did managed to do this in soup (wasn't taco soup) I guess it work better with liquid dishes

@Luuklag Yeah, it's called a blender :P

He can even turn soup into pastasauce and then back into soup the day after

effectively is chilli, except taco sauce and no beans
well, beans are fine
why not

8:34 PM
@Luuklag let me guess: water is the secret sauce? :D

@Luuklag Oh he's one of those...... I had that once and I'm never going to try it again!

@Tinkeringbell try chicken soup -- by using left over chicken skin and meat, boil it in hot water, pour in a bit of sauce (of your choice) and it usually work

actualy prefer taco soup over chilli

@NordTheLoftyWizard Oh, we do make chicken soup! :)
We usually add a 'maggiblokje' though, it's like a sugar cube, but salty :D

@Tinkeringbell with or without bones? I'm asking because some restaurant use bones powder for the textures of the soup

8:36 PM
@Tinkeringbell I've seen posts I've voted on presented to me as audits, and I've seen posts I've voted to close presented to me in the reopen queue. I'm not sure if I've ever been presented the same post in the same queue twice as not an audit.

@Tinkeringbell well he does a great job. He can turn left over tomato soup, into pastasauce, and then the left over sauce into vegetable soup

@NordTheLoftyWizard Usually, with bones :)
Though we take them out before eating ;)

@Tinkeringbell yeah, feel there always something missing without those
@Tinkeringbell haha yeah

@RyanM Yeah, but posts you've voted to close in the reopen queue isn't that weird. Call me again when you're presented with them in the close vote queue again :P

@Luuklag wait, isn't pastasauce just tomato sauce? I at least had that impression

8:38 PM
@Luuklag Well the one time I had something like that, it went something like this:

@NordTheLoftyWizard well you can put anything in it. My dad usually uses loads of vegetables and also pumpkin as substitute for tomato

We were out in the wilderness using stone tools to rebuild a prehistoric house and cooking on a campfire. We were promised hard labor and good food, but that immediately turned out to be a lie when we were eating no meat (not calling it vegetarian, because there weren't any replacements like nuts/eggs/certain vegetables for the meat either).

Rob
@Luuklag That led to the discovery that they had asbestos and liquid ammonia, placing everyone at greater risk: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enschede_fireworks_disaster#Damage sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2212420921001370#! - will need to research further, later.

@Luuklag I see. Didn't thought there could be added vegetables in it :o (pumpkin as tomato substitute is an interesting idea too)

So, this lady kind of demanded 'cooking rights', but she was a horrible cook. One night, she served us 'tomato soup', which was basically water flavored with some of those pureed tomatoes out of a carton, and a lot of rice/beans to 'give it some body'. Basically, you were eating very wet rice/beans, with just enough tomato in the water to ruin the taste.
No one really ate much, so at least three quarters of her 'pan of soup' remained.
(We got sausages and another campfire later that evening).

@Rob ah okay, well there are still loads of buildings using asbestos roofs. New usage of the stuff has long been banned, but recently a ban on having such a roof was canceled.

That pan of soup was then left to simmer over the fire all day next day, but of course people get distracted and stuff so the rice/beans kinda burned on the bottom because people didn't really stir. But indeed the next day, she tried to serve us that mess as a pasta sauce (it was, by that time, perhaps just the right thickness for a tomato soup XD)
We again got sausages and made another campfire that evening.

@Rob Also it wasn't the greatest mind who planned a neighbourhood around such a heavy industrie area. My FiL was at the airforcebase in Enschede when these things happened. He saw a lot of grim things that day.

@RyanM Mkay. But 'leave open' in review isn't exactly the same as casting a close or reopen vote.
But you're right, you were allowed to review that post twice :)
And since that means I might've been wrong, that means it's time for me to shamefully retreat to bed ;)
Good night!

Good night o/

Night!
@RyanM welp, looks like this can indeed happen. Thanks for clearing my doubt about this (since I wasn't sure if this could happen or not based on earlier conversation)

Rob
It's tough when things are built under old regulations, and there's a resistance to adopt new regulations. We have that for Sprinklers in residential buildings, new construction gets them, old construction is supposed to have them retrofitted.

@Rob We have loads of these things. The problem is ofcourse that everything costs money.
And the thing with asbestos is that it isn't harmfull as long as it is left in place. Only when things get stirred up danger arises.
With demolitions you can take the appropriate precautions, but unfortunately with incidents like fires you can't. So it would be best to have everything removed. But as long as the gov. isn't going to shell out the money for that to happen it isn't going to.

just print more money

They subsidised it a lot though, by having extra subsidies on installing solar when you remove asbestos
Ideally we would even find a way to recycle, or at least dispose of it propperly
Right now we end up tripple wrapping it in plastic and sending it to the landfill
thats a new drama waiting to unfold.

@KevinB don't know much about this but, wouldn't that make the currency less valuable?

9:00 PM
@NordTheLoftyWizard In theory yes, in practice not so much
It's all about supply and demand these days, the link with Gold has long been gone for most currencies
If it would be true the USD would litterally be completely worthless 10 times over already

@Luuklag really? then how come most country that could do it don't (other than the US i mean)?

most countries do. The EU does it on a massive scale as well.

@Luuklag I see. I guess i thought most countries didn't want to or were thinking it was frowned upon hmm

btw any RO want's to pin the message about downtime?

Rob
9:40 PM
@KevinB Then your money ends up less valuable than Zimbabwe toilet paper, which used to sell for $417 for a single two-ply sheet, and weekly family earnings were $10 / week - so it was cheaper to use money.

that is an acceptable outcome

Rob
Yeah, but you are rich:
