Someone has just upvoted 10+ of my answers in rapid succession. They all appear to be my most upvoted answers so it seems like they were going through my profile to upvote. I'm quite curious to know why someone would do that. I can understand serial downvoting if someone is angry at me, but serial upvoting? Are they playing the long con so I get to see -100 due to serial voting reversal?
Now they've slowed down a bit (I'm at I think 14 upvotes now?) so it seems like at least they're reading my posts, but it's still a bit confusing. I've never been serial upvoted before.

they might actually find your answers interesting and not be aware of the serial voting thing

The speed at which they can read my posts puts Kim Peek to shame.

\o/
At worst someone gets suspended

Will the upvotes be reversed?

If its serial votes? Its automated

Well it's up to like 15 now, so I guess it'll be reversed. Oh well.

3:18 AM
You never had those votes anyway

rip my reputation

Its ok, you will always have a bad reputation :D
More seriously, once again, you never really had that reputation and you'll likely earn it back in 6-8

Lets say...
you loose 200 rep in a reversal
how long can you earn that back in? 2-3 weeks?

Effectiveness Vs. Efficacy - IRL Vs. Testing:
Vaccine efficacy is the percentage reduction of disease in a vaccinated group of people compared to an unvaccinated group, using the most favorable conditions. Vaccine efficacy was designed and calculated by Greenwood and Yule in 1915 for the cholera and typhoid vaccines. It is best measured using double-blind, randomized, clinical controlled trials, such that it is studied under β€œbest case scenarios.” Vaccine effectiveness differs from vaccine efficacy in that vaccine effectiveness shows how well a vaccine works when they are always used and in a bigger population whereas vaccine efficacy shows...

I think this person needs to adjust their expectations. And read the site FAQ.

On a related note, metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com is so slow it hurts. It almost makes me want to offer web hosting for free just so it doesn't take so damn long to load....

Please don't insult Thomas Ward and the hosting is already free. Against crappy software not enough hardware exist to compensate for the dumb implementation choices.

Oh I've hosted services that were incredibly slow. No insults intended. :P
I wonder how much of the poor performance can be mitigated by configuration changes.

@TheforestofReinstateMonica MetaSmoke is open source. If you prep a proper performance test-rig to validate your config changes do indeed improve stuff I'm sure the Charcoal crew and Thomas will be happy to accept your proposals.

@rene I was thinking server config (caching, compression, etc).
Wayback machine still retroactively removes pages based on current robots.txt :(
(hm, chat's parsing of hyperlinks is kinda broken)
(silly workaround but I guess it works)
