35 messages moved to Chimney
!!/blame all the blamers for not fixing the blame bug
@Shadow10YearsWizard It's Journeyman Geek's fault.
09:01
@Luuklag when reporting cross site spammers please link to their network profile, to save JNat some clicks. ;)
oh wow that's a big one. Nice catch, @Luuk!
@Luuklag !delete!
borked
@Luuklag @rene could you delete this message
lol
@Luuklag he can only move it
RO can't delete messages of others after two minutes.
RO can delete messages of other users in the 2 minutes window, it's a hidden power. :D
Yeah I know I could do that to my own messages
but the time had passed
09:04
@Luuklag I know. ;)
@Shadow10YearsWizard Yep, they've been at this for a while...couple of the accounts are nuked but I wonder if they're in the same network profile.
Hidden parrot did it, anyway. Thanks @Tink! ;)
@RyanM maybe, never too late to nuke spammers. :D
that long list of profiles makes me suspect Smokey doesn't have a complete accounting...anyway that username is blacklisted now so hopefully that will discourage additional spam from them :-)
@Shadow10YearsWizard yw!
thx tink
@RyanM meh, being unauthenticated or smth
09:08
Also apropos of absolutely nothing: @Shadow10YearsWizard, did you know you're the only person who has a gold badge for all four required MSE tags who has never been a Stack Exchange employee?
dupehammer overlord
@Tinkeringbell :)
@RyanM yeah, I worked hard for those hammers, especially the hammer. :D
Since MSE is my cyber home, I need to be able to reconstruct it, hammers are essential part of that. ;)
09:24
sdc tea Ollie
@Shadow10YearsWizard brews a cup of earl grey tea for @Ollie
@Shadow10YearsWizard No such command 'monkey'.
@Shadow10YearsWizard Yeah, that was how I figured it out...there are only 16 people with hammers and it didn't take terribly long to check them all :-)
09:31
sdc coffee Luuklag
@Luuklag brews a cup of Latte for @Luuklag
latte, blegh
!!/coffee
@Tinkeringbell brews a cup of Macchiato for @Tinkeringbell
wanna trade @Luuklag ?
09:32
Macchiato > Latte
@Tinkeringbell well macchiato also has milk, so no thx ;)
Perhaps you should've asked for tea then :P
tea doesn't wake you up
Directors talk now, so can't fall asleep
@Luuklag what they say? Anything important?
about our new accounting system
09:35
/me paws @Luuklag a red eye with extra shots of expresso
they implemented a new system, by a major company, that only does half the thing the old custom system did
@JourneymanGeek thx
@Luuklag as always. And for double the price, right?
I'd hand you some vending machine coffee, which is probably more effective, as it taste so bad you will never sleep again....
@Shadow10YearsWizard Well the new things is a SAAS thing. The old one was running locally on Filemaker, but no support was available. So really risky.
ooh, filemaker
That's a name I have not heard in a very long time...
dosen't it run only on OS X?
09:37
It's all about marketing, the new accounting system probably just have better marketing people, who can sell anything to anyone.
@Shadow10YearsWizard filemaker was slightly delicate and tended to be fragile, but folks tended to do magic with it
@Shadow10YearsWizard Well we decided we need something new, as we were running more and more into trouble and unstabilities.
@JourneymanGeek probably, we run on mac.
Well, I did things in Classic ASP that I was never able to do again in ASP.NET
09:38
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FileMaker Its access for apple people :D
@JourneymanGeek yeah, with bunch of custom things, and it worked quite fast
09:53
@JourneymanGeek Also know 4D? Also such a gem
@Luuklag that was uh... 3 jobs ago
these days I babysit a mission critical application that runs on a wierdly nearly obsolete tech stack
Yeah, we also have another app running in that. Thinking about moving that to something more mainstream
I sadly can't joke about my server having better uptime than work since my hardware dropped dead :(
As we can only make repports by hiring a horribly expensive dev externally. The guys that build this protected themselves perfectly.
If we move it to SQL I can just write my own queries
instead of paying 2k for a new query
rofl
We are those guys :D
and we... just tend to run raw sql commands or have an in house application for everything.
10:04
@Pandya hey! What did you want to ask?
Maybe you need coffee first?
!!/coffee Pan
@Shadow10YearsWizard brews a cup of Mocha for @Pan
And he's back!
@Shadow10YearsWizard Hi
@JourneymanGeek you don't cook the SQL commands first?! :D
Raw commands can have bugs germs in them.
@Pandya you wanted to just say hi? Nice, so why deleting it? ;)
@Shadow10YearsWizard It was posted in wrong room.
10:08
@Pandya since you didn't post in other room guess you mean wrong chat domain, lol...
sdc guide Pandya
@Shadow10YearsWizard No such command 'guide'.
@Shadow10YearsWizard No, chat domain is correct :)
@Pandya OK, now I'm confused. lol
(if you post something in wrong room, it means you meant to post it in other room... but you didn't...)
@Shadow10YearsWizard It is private room (TL)
10:19
ohhh
So now I'm upset I didn't see what you wrote on time.... ;)
@Shadow10YearsWizard I mean, quite literally, someone will send a bunch of commands we run, and whatsapp the results... or email a photo of the screen
@JourneymanGeek or send on VCR tape? ;)
When I leave this job I have some fun stories about that, if anyone remembers about it
See this immaculate timing: i.sstatic.net/W7Q1p.png
@Shadow10YearsWizard basically our client is airgapped but we have devs outside their network and we need information for reports
10:30
What would be an appropriate network site, if any, to ask about the motor of my robot vaccuum?
@Luuklag Kinda depends on what your question about it is, I guess?
Looking for any info on wether or not there are replacement parts available
At least not robotics
DIY perhaps?
@Tinkeringbell Would that be home improvement? That leans more towards building and repairing houses IRC
@Luuklag Yep, home improvement :) I've seen it do some replacement part questions like diy.stackexchange.com/questions/82483/… ...
10:38
Yeah, but household appliances are off-topic diy.stackexchange.com/questions/122655/fix-broken-vacuum-body
So no luck for me ;)
:/ Have you checked Electrical Engineering then?
@Shadow10YearsWizard There's nothing to upset.
10:50
@Tinkeringbell yeah, also not really suitable.
I just found a website that appears to be from the supplier, but that doesn't list the part I need... :(
Okay I can hunt. What am I looking for? :P
The plastic part that connects the motor with the brush, or perhaps an entire motor unit for a Eufy robovac 11 ;)
@Luuklag Perhaps you can ask 3D printing to help out ;)
haha yeah, but the problem is the part is worn, so no way to replicate that ;)
@JourneymanGeek I see
@Luuklag what about it?
@Pandya :)
11:18
@Shadow10YearsWizard That I'm still able to interact with the flag dialog
11:35
@Luuklag huh, didn't notice there is a flag dialog it's transparent. It's almost like seeing ghosts. Well done for interacting with something almost invisible! ;)
Yeah there is this semi transparant overlay for the deletion.
Clicking the flag button however results in an error pop-up, that the post is deleted and can't be flagged
@Luuklag well, yes. Which is expected. The "this post has been deleted" isn't a blocking dialog, can't see any bug here.
No no bug, but just nice timing. Was trying to flag as spam, but got beaten to it by deletion.
Ran out of coffee in office... coworker should buy new coffee, but it's taking a while.... becomes insane due to lack of coffee
@Luuklag yup, that's good! :D
@Shadow10YearsWizard go out and buy things? How 1900's of you ;)
Just order online and have it delivered
11:44
@Luuklag the supermarket is 5 minutes walk from office. :)
Since the first lockdown in Israel I only order online, once a week, for what I need for home. I don't like it, but better than getting infected...
@Shadow10YearsWizard That should make for a lovely short delivery time then! :D
90% of the times, something is missing, randomly. 80% of the times, they switch something with something else. It's super annoying.
@Shadow10YearsWizard I already did, because it allows me to do shopping any time I want. Which won't happen otherwise unless you live int he USA I guess
@Shadow10YearsWizard Well poor supermarket you chose then. Here now and then something lacks, but they inform you in advance by email. They don't do replacing stuff
@Tinkeringbell lol, I wish it was that simple.... ;)
Here there is one supermarket that delivers within 2 hours, quite pricy but yeah if you run out of coffee it could be life-saving ;)
11:50
My parents still do their own grocery shopping, so we've never actually tried online delivery. But I've heard both good and bad stories about it. It also seems to depend a bit on how the orders are handled: One local supermarket here just has employees walking the store to get stuff off the shelves (and those look super unhappy and bored, so the stories about things regularly going wrong don't surprise me).
I think another big chain uses special distribution centers and as such I've heard better stories about that.
@Tinkeringbell If you mean AH, yeah that true, that where I order
@Luuklag good for you.... and it's much worse in other supermarkets in Israel, believe me. It's just part of our.... culture.
They have special fullfillment centres that handle just online orders
@Luuklag Yep, that's the one I was thinking of :)
The 'Plus' is the local one.
@Tinkeringbell that mode is also used by COOP, and Jumbo
11:52
I just have a mom for now. Works great ;)
@Tinkeringbell it all boils down to the people who actually collects the things your ordered. They make mistakes because they either don't care, or don't get paid enough. Or both.
@Luuklag sure, same here. But see above. ^
Unless it will be 100% automated, such mistakes will happen here.
Coffee arrived!!!1!!!
@Shadow10YearsWizard congratz
@Shadow10YearsWizard Yeah, they probably make minimumwage, and work odd hours. As the earliest deliveries start early in the morning
@Luuklag exactly. And they handle lots of orders every day, nonstop. And see all kinds of weird things being ordered. lol
@AdamLear 26 mornings later, this is still happening. Any chance to look into it? Thanks! :) — Shadow 10 Years Wizard 10 secs ago
lol
@Luuklag I haven't really got to WFM or otherwise quarantine at all :(
@JourneymanGeek WFM?
Chat appears troubled as well....
I had to retry that last message 3 times before it was sent off
12:11
hmm.... is this related to the current search problems?
@Luuklag works fine here.... for now...
yeah works now, perhaps it's my connection
@Luuklag maybe Worldwide Famous Materials?
Wiki Future Mother?
...and it can be thousands of more three words combo. No way to know. :D
@Shadow10YearsWizard If you're on twitter go ahead and ask him ;)
@Luuklag nah, too scary.
He's big on Twitter.
He can't be bigger then 140 chars right?
(That's all my twitter knowledge)
12:16
lol it's more than that for loooong time
But anyway, from quick look in past @Sonic's attempts, it's futile. Nick doesn't reply on Twitter.
(to mortal humans like us.)
No, he sometimes does.
Checked three of your last attempts, no response in any.
There was one where he did.
WFM may refer to: == Science and technology == Waveform monitor a type of oscilloscope used to monitor video signals Wired for Management, an Intel standard for managing computer systems Wideband FM, a form of frequency modulated radio == Organisations == Western Federation of Miners, an American labor union Whole Foods Market, an American foods supermarket World Federalist Movement, a global citizens movement == Other == Wallace Fard Muhammad, founder of the Nation of Islam Woman FIDE Master, a title awarded by FIDE to women chess players after fulfilling certain requirements Workfor...
Whole foods market
12:22
The question I just posted initially didn't appear to go through. The circle spun for two minutes before it gave me "An error occurred submitting the question." But when I tried again to post it, it immediately told me that it "appeared to be a duplicate of [just posted question]".
@SonictheK-DayHedgehog Curious...
@Luuklag maybe, we can't know...
(since there are many other meanings.)
WCK
WIAIB
See?
WPC (sort of formerly)
12:27
Whole Foods was once known as "Whole Paycheck" due to its extremely high prices; those went down a bit after Amazon acquired it, but they're still higher than the local area supermarket chains
Is this USA thing? If so can't see any reason why @Journeyman will use it....
I mispelled WFH :D
I don't know, my in-laws worked a few years in Florida. Just any fresh produce were extremely expensive, no matter the retailer
@JourneymanGeek World Fatal Hooligans?
Work from home
12:29
Still an unfamiliar acronym, which needs guessing.
Also, unless you know someone personally work tweeting them is not cool
@JourneymanGeek oh.
@Luuklag I lived in Miami for a couple months, and I can attest to that.
@JourneymanGeek well if that someone keep tweeting about their work and bugs on regular basis, it's expected that people try to address them on that platform. :)
12:30
@SonictheK-DayHedgehog One apple was as epensive as a KG of apples here
(futile, but it's legit to try.)
SE has stated they don't want Twitter to be the place for effecting change on the network
@SonictheK-DayHedgehog not wanting to is different from not letting it be ;)
@Shadow10YearsWizard tweeting about 'fun stuff' at work, and tweeting about work is different
@Luuklag maybe a golden apple.
@JourneymanGeek he also tweets about how he fix bugs, or even when a bug is ongoing.
12:32
I never had to worry about fresh produce prices there, as I had Blue Apron
@Shadow10YearsWizard dosen't mean its fine to tweet them about it :D
@Shadow10YearsWizard Nah a regular apple going for a dollar or something. Here 1 kg is about 1-1,30 EUR
personal social spaces are personal, even if they talk about work
@Luuklag Here in the San Diego area, it's that much for 1 pound (450 g)
Here we have lots of different brands of apples, each has different price.
Think the cheapest cost about $2 for a kg.
The most expensive, triple than that.
Pink Lady costs about $6 for a kg.
sdc Pink Lady
12:49
@Shadow10YearsWizard No such command 'pink'.
I feel like the generic apples taste best anyways
13:06
@JohnDvorak well Pink Lady does taste better, but IMO not worth x3 the price.
OK, this can explain why Nick is so busy.
:D
Search is back up!!! but extremely slow
@Shadow10YearsWizard This looks like censored MITappinventor Code backpack
@QueenieGoldstein meh, as long as they don't fix whatever is broken, search will break again, any moment.
@QueenieGoldstein good idea! :D
13:59
hmmm i doubt about this one...
yeah my bet too, but there is no need for the link, as OP stated their looking to buy from their local shop
anyways, referral links are still rewritten by SE, so their not able to profit from that.
Right, yeah. A bit odd to drop the link in there but... Wait, is there a referral code, I wonder?
Ah.
I don't know exactly how amazon URL's work, but that could be the only incentive I could think of as for why one would include that
well they appear to have some legitimate contributions to SO as well, so probably no ill intentions with that link
14:14
^ Needs 2 more
@Luuklag no. At least one user downvoted manually.
We can't know how many spam flags a post got.
@Shadow10YearsWizard Well I based myself on the message by @Spevacus, I flagged one more, and with my math 2 - 1 always equals 1 ;)
Oh yeah sure, throw me under the bus ;)
@Spevacus well, you were wrong. You should pay for your mistakes! :D
!!/punish Spe
14:23
@Shadow10YearsWizard No such command 'punish'.
But yeah I was spitballing. It had 3 (mine included) feedbacks in MS so I figured the spamflag counter was about accurate.
Some people in CHQ haven't made the grand quest to join every site in the network, though, so maybe I should be less absolute when I call out stuff like that.
@Spevacus so why only 2 more? It needs 6.
@Shadow10YearsWizard cause the votecount was at -4
Also, one can mark Smokey report as positive without actually flagging. :)
@Luuklag huh! So like I said, that's what tripped you.
I mean @Spe
14:24
@Shadow10YearsWizard Just based it off of the -4 score. A better statement would've been "^ Needs ~2 more"
Needs 6-8 more is the safest path. :D
well it needs 0 more now
@Shadow10YearsWizard Indeed! Lots of people do.
@Luuklag R.I.P
Actually, not in peace.
It's more like G.S.Y.G

@rene Post 1: Already recently reported [ MS ]
thanks love
@Shadow10YearsWizard Not enchanted?
16:11
@Νеvеrꭑoꭇе Are those... melons? In gift boxes?
a slot machine that shows the jackpot ...
The next step is to make the fruit grow its own packaging... oh wait.
@Tinkeringbell oh it's a Japanese thing
lol
I google japanese expensive melons and...
16:36
@rene I think the picture was taken in Ginza, and yep, as @Journeyman said it is from Japan.
"Luxury fruit parlors"
you already have melons going for more than 25K $.
and then you have crazy things like the IchigoKoro
so, what's luxury about them? A special breed, or just hand-picked?
@JohnDvorak ? the strawberries? or the melon?
both, actually.
the strawberry... look at the shape.
That's not a photo edit.
16:42
Those are actually heart-shaped. To be sold on Valentine day I assume
I didn't notice until you pointed it out and I surely wouldn't notice even if it was set upon a valentine cake.
As for the other fruits, some are status symbols probably, and some are "limited edition" like special grapes brand produced in only 500 pieces/year.
then you have things like the square watermelon and such that probably are more affordable (still probably going for 100$/piece) and I assume are meant as gift.
You know, Japan sometime takes the "nice to see" culture to its extremes

^ and the worst part? You don't even get to become a rubber-boy if you buy these.
Nor you can turn into fire, or cause quakes with a punch.
17:36
@Νеvеrꭑoꭇе don't know what it is, and don't know the language or currency.
@Νеvеrꭑoꭇе no, those are long lost. :(
@JohnDvorak maybe they get only pure water from a very rare and hidden pond.
distilled water is actually unhealthy
For humans, perhaps, but for plants/fruit?
Those too need minerals
@Tink can you please reconsider the unprotection of the Thank You post? There are 0 valid answers from users with low rep, and those who know Tim have enough rep to answer, IMO. And the post attract really bad quality answers, some from people who don't know Tim, some trolls, etc. Thanks!
@Shadow10YearsWizard Yeah, that was the reply I got in the mod room too :) If it gets protected again I'll leave it :)
17:42
heh, thanks.
Think it might get auto protected again in the next answer, not sure when the check is running.
@JohnDvorak so pond having very rich water full with minerals. ;)
@Shadow10YearsWizard Soon enough then :)
Could anyone do me a favor? I was just looking for an answer Shog wrote way back when on IPS, but when I used the meta site and searched for users, his name didn't turn up. Can anyone confirm on another site specific meta site that this search may be borked?
doesn't work on Literature Meta either
(confirmed that the account exists on both IPS and Lit)
but searches for me or you work
I can find him under 'voters' but no longer under 'participation' :/
@Tinkeringbell the tooltip says Users most active on this site in the last 60 days (combined number of posts, votes, comments and edits).. Are you blaming Shog9 for being no longer active ;)
@Shadow10YearsWizard Thanks for the tea - I really didn't want to go harvest more mint...
@rene Not really, but I've always been able to find him through there... even though is last activity was years ago... :|
Or it was default set to voters and I never realized it changed.
@DavidPostill That wasn't what I wanted to do, but it's a good workaround ;)
@Tinkeringbell maybe you found your secret voter ;)
A question:
Could we have the network profile imitate a regular site profile and show your top contributions, questions and answers, first?
@rene Heh, 'voters' does say it lists everyone who voted 10 times ;)
18:08
Turns out he is a serial voter ...
18:28
@rene I've investigated but since most votes were in my favour, I decided not to pursue any further action :P
Cheat! Cheat!
LOL :D
@Tinkeringbell No Black Forest cake for you.
Good, as that's not my favorite :P
???
Not your favorite?
How?
Anyway
18:32
My favorite cake is mon chou :)
That could just be a clever interpretation of the rules.
Not a breakage...
@Tinkeringbell Strawberry monchou?
We usually put cherries (canned, sugared) on top :)
Oooh.
Birthday upcoming - might have that...
Go for it! Though I mostly like it in summer (when it's my birthday :P). I like apple pie for fall/winter ;)
@Shadow10YearsWizard There should be a userscript for that.
@Tinkeringbell I agree. Although we have pumpkin pie, with homegrown pumpkins.
18:38
Never tried that... I ate pumpkin soup for the first time this year though, that was less bad then I expected :D
*goes to search Stack Apps*
@Tinkeringbell I'm not a huge fan. Fortunately, we have some neighbors.
Hahaha :D
And when I say neighbors, I mean those damn squirrels.
Also some human ones, but also bears, mice, monkeys etc. etc.
We used to have birds as neighbors, but now the actual neighbors have a cat and they're not controlling it so now there's no more birds.
Does the cat come into your backyard?
18:42
Sadly, yes.
One moment
We've tried several things already but we're not ready to put up electrified fencing...
Searching for remedies.
@Tinkeringbell Monkeys.
We can't get monkeys here to scare the cat..
At least you don't have bobcats.
Or... ?
18:44
Hahaha no that would make things too much fun.
Though they might be returning? We have wolves now...
We have some alarmingly large/dodgy dogs up the road from our house.
I'll be going now
Ta!
Wait
Give this to @Shadow.
