@JourneymanGeek the blog post clearly says Q1 of 2020, and unlike other things, I'm pretty sure they'll do it on time.
when they want to nuke things, they're quite fast.
@Stormblessed all meta sites.
> We plan to transition things like bug reports, user and customer support, user feedback, and company announcements off of Meta
Where to? ^
Exactly! They never said.
So I personally think those "new channels" would be those user groups.
Is there any discussion till now to raise the privilege levels of beta sites?
@NogShine pretty sure there are such feature requests, but why?
After increasing the points for a question, there are many people who gained privileges and started to give wrong reviews.
I only saw this question now. Otherwise I would have answered it. -_-
8:05 AM
@NogShine ohh. Ugh, then yes maybe new discussion is proper.
@NogShine meh, it's total crap like any "Mod abused me, let's punish them!!!111!!!!" - there's nothing we can do, it's totally between the user and the mod(s), and SE staff if needed via contact form.
Plus off topic, belongs to a specific site.
@ShadowThePrincessWizard Yeah. I am sure people who upvoted don't know the back story.
@NogShine these days people will upvote anything that is against SE or the mods who are still active, on spot, without even reading what it is really about. And to be honest, can't really blame them.
Kind of robo upvoters.
anyway....

@ShadowThePrincessWizard But it's more serious I feel. Even when there is a rant or opinion against moderators, there is a civil way.
@NogShine civil was thrown out of the window the moment SE did what they did to Monica.
They act as the worst bully, and still do it.
They block anyone who disagree with their opinions, and act against the community will.
@ShadowThePrincessWizard If SE has thrown out and we follow the same way, we don't have right to question them. We can't be bullies too.
@ShadowThePrincessWizard.i'm not a company dog. Nor is the mod in question there.
But yeah, we should still flag outright abusive posts and downvote/close rants like the above, because like you said - we're better than that.
If meta is to survive we need to stop fighting each other and stop giving the haters ammo
@ShadowThePrincessWizard I closed it this morning. Was reopened and reclosed
8:22 AM
@JourneymanGeek sure. But many see you as such.
@ShadowThePrincessWizard which... I don't know what I can do about.
@JourneymanGeek good. :)
@JourneymanGeek nothing... just to wait.
The reopening and reclosing is not
With time those who will be still angry will leave, and new generation will arrive.
@JourneymanGeek is not what?
@ShadowThePrincessWizard if ever. They might come to an agora in ruins.
@ShadowThePrincessWizard good.
And I have seen posts getting closed and reopened 4-5 times
8:27 AM
@JourneymanGeek I missed opportunity to gain rep ;) (:

as an aside
the whole loop thing just confuses me
10:44 AM
@justcool393 Yeah. I feel the same.
10:56 AM
so I guess they want to replace meta or smth which given it's the only public forum to display discontent i get it but i think it's gonna create more problems than it solves
11:08 AM
That's the thing. It's not there just as a public forum to display discontent.
It's a place to actually communicate
Both ways.
11:59 AM
yeah..... cept that's stopped. :<

@JourneymanGeek Sometimes I am surprised, why I still did not get a network-wide ban. But it happens only rarely. Typically, I am shocked, how can be you so intolerant, dictatoric, and this all in the name of the "freedom".
@peterhsaysreinstateMonica that needs a CM
@peterhsaysreinstateMonica honestly? I actually care about meta, and the network and the people around me.
Tolerant dosen't mean listen to any garbage
@JourneymanGeek No. I was not punished for "garbage" content. I was punished because my political views are different.
@peterhsaysreinstateMonica well then, feel free to take your politics somewhere people appreciate it more
I'm done dealing with politics. I'd rather deal with people.
If you cannot be nice. You insist on hurting people cause "politics" - I don't accept it
@JourneymanGeek Btw, you are from Singapore. Probably you see that political garbage, what currently rules the so-named "west", from quite a different perspective. Believe me, it has nothing to do to the so-named "development" of the West. It is actually the end of the West.
@peterhsaysreinstateMonica And yet, here I am, dealing with it
12:32 PM
@JourneymanGeek A signature of the opinion terror that it labels the different/contradicting opinions hostile, even if they are not.
and saying, take it elsewhere.
@peterhsaysreinstateMonica so, literally - the folks you are mad at? They arn't listening. The people around me are fellow users and friends. And they are hurt.
@peterhsaysreinstateMonica sigh
If I wasn't clear. Please leave your politics at the door.

@NogShine We need to Area 51 a new site, let's call it usersvoice.SE, where all the recent rep gaining questions (opinions / rants / negative voted whys) can be moved to. Those questions and the rep gained/lost can populate the new site and the people whom were never active on MSE until recently can have a supportive environment. There'll be a restoration to the functioning of the Meta.

Hi

8:38 PM
winterbash or no?
8:56 PM
unlikely?
If they skip winterbash, it's essentially an admission that they're getting affected by the issues they've created. The would never admit that.
9:10 PM
how so?
"Sorry, developers are busy" isn't an admission of anything, other than there's lots of work
9:43 PM
@ShadowThePrincessWizard True, it doesn't say how people will submit bug reports. But it does mention that a big problem with the current system is that Meta.SE doesn't tie in to an auromated bug tracking / ticketing system, which obviously means that handling bugs is less methodical & involves more manual work than it ought to. So I assume they want to fix that.

I'm not privy to what's going on with Winter Bash (literally heard nothing about it myself, but maybe I missed something), but a major factor to keep in mind is our chief architect of fun things no longer works for us. — animuson ♦ 2 hours ago
@PM2Ring Pretty sure moving from meta to ad hoc surveys achieves none of that though
@JohnDvorak Of course it doesn't. Who suggested that it does?
Teh blog
I'm kinda sad that you can't bastardize "blog" because it's already been bastardized by construction.
@JohnDvorak That The Loop blog covers a lot of ground, but as I said earlier it's admittedly very short on actual details. But it does not say "we're replacing the metas with a blog series & a bunch of ad hoc surveys".
Nov 27 at 8:42, by PM 2Ring
As I said here: https://meta.stackexchange.com/a/338836/334566 I think it's high time for a drastic overhaul of how meta functions. I'd like to say I'm cautiously optimistic about the upcoming changes, but frankly that Loop blog post & the Through The Loop survey don't give me much confidence, especially in the light of what's gone down over the last couple of months.
The Loop blog identifies several core functions of meta that they want to fix by creating new systems for:
yesterday, by PM 2Ring
From the blog: We plan to transition things like bug reports, user and customer support, user feedback, and company announcements off of Meta over the course of next year. [...] In Q1 2020, we’re going to start the transition process. We are following a product development and release process for each function that we transition.
Company announcements have already moved to blog posts. They'll release a new bug reporting & ticketing system. They'll get some user feedback via the new working group.
10:14 PM
@PM2Ring 🙉🙈. That said, new ticketing systems would presumably have better workflows.
I have no idea what they intend to do about "user & customer support". I'm not even sure what's the difference between users & customers... I guess customers are the actual paying customers for stuff like Teams & Enterprise. Perhaps there'll be a new software system for support that can deal with the paying customers, and the same software can also handle us volunteers.
@DavidA We know that Sara et al basically stopped listening to Meta.SE quite a while ago. And they clearly decided that it was impossible to fix it, so the only alternative is to replace it. Now Sara claims she wants to actually improve communication, but I can't say I'm a big fan of her communication style, or the chaos she's been causing over the last few months...
@PM2Ring Some things just have to run their course.
10:34 PM
Any prediction on for how long will username suffixes be safe from removal and reprimation? I'm thinking of sporting one myself.
10:54 PM
@PM2Ring a would assume for customers it could go straight to tickets
@JohnDvorak No plans to clear them.
thanks!
11:14 PM
I suspect that John Dvorak's not the only person thinking that meta's going to be replaced by blog posts and surveys. Quite a few of the recent posts on Meta.SE seem to have that assumption. It's a pity that The Loop blog post has created that impression...

If only we could shorten instead of lengthen, arr.
I must admit that Sara's communiques often feel like they have too many feel-good buzzwords and not enough hard information. Like the speeches of some politicians. Or the Monty Python [How To Do It]( montypython.net/scripts/howtodoit.php) sketch.
11:31 PM
@PM2Ring same could probably be said of the people in board positions at the WMF and Linux Foundation.
