> I've currently halted feature designs for Area 51. The bulk of the dev team(s) have switched over to the Talent product for the foreseeable future, so it's not yet clear when/how resources are going to switch back to Q&A development. We had already planned for a month-long delay with the hire of a new Q&A project manager, but my last round of Area 51 improvements dates back to February 2017 and it's still "pending estimation". -- Robert C.

IOTA probably set a modern record for the shortest Definition phase in Area 51. Cryptocurrencies are the new content management systems of Area 51.

The Intelligence of Dogs is a book on dog intelligence by Stanley Coren, a professor of canine psychology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Published in 1994, the book explains Coren's theories about the differences in intelligence between different breeds of dogs. Coren published a second edition in 2006. Coren defines three aspects of dog intelligence in the book: instinctive intelligence, adaptive intelligence, and working and obedience intelligence. Instinctive intelligence refers to a dog's ability to perform the tasks it was bred for, such as herding, pointing, fetching...

@rene we are getting rusty, deleted by Brad and Oded.... (and you :))

shame on us

@ShadowWizard did you left your Den?

6:53 AM
@SagarV happens only during wars.... so far happened once. And now I'm there, replying to people. ;)
Oh wait, don't think the Den existed when I was at that war, so it's "never". :)

@SagarV did you left your Tavern?

@JNat cross network troll, posting images all over the place. Seen only on MSE so far but pretty sure they also did it on other sites. For your attention... :)

@Walt seems it got reddit's support. that's probably the reason

Now we finally know who's behind Fake News.... bots! :D

bot... did you mean Walt?

Fellow humans, we are at war with bots!
Wait... maybe Trump is also a bot? :P
@Disney nah, he's Normal Human.
@Disney yup. Now they face harder problem of gathering 200+ rep users, and their real test will be the private beta.... masses of people is not the only thing that's important for SE site to succeed.
?
I didn't see....
@Sag
@Saga

7:58 AM
He posted only in MSE
SO & IoT are empty

You have diamond on the other sites? He might have posted and it got deleted already. :)

That may be a possibility
@ShadowWizard I didn't even have a diamond in my hand

@SagarV you will have... one day.... :D

@SagarV easy! Just ask Elizabeth II to hand it over to you. Just be very polite, and she will surely do that. :D

lol
That bot is really stupid... no sanity checks whatsoever.
and it can't distinguish between edit and a new post... really lame programming.
It just picks the latest "bump" on a site, and tweet it. Really sad that major newspaper is relying on something so poor.
I bet it's <10 lines of code, written in 15 minutes.
but hey, it must have been cheap! :P

React programming, on the wrong side.

I am amazed they gave it a name... QuakeBot, I think. LOL

Not to be confused with Quake 3 Bot

lol yup
@ang did you report those 2 trolling answers as spam?

8:09 AM
@ShadowWizard no, @tripleee did, but at best they're NAA (in which case they shouldn't have been reported, but NAA feedback should have been used), and at worst rude/abusive

@angussidney NAA is correct, but not spam and not rude.
IMO Smokey shouldn't handle random crap, only spam and offensive. No?

Really rude is a debatable topic, but if you consider it abusive of the site's resources than it can be classed rude (in a similar way to gibberish)

I reported them in order to have them stored as samples in Metasmoke

@tripleee what for?

the metasmoke link reveals why something was reported

8:11 AM
It's an image from Great Teacher Onizuka, so it must be abusive :D

@ShadowWizard because in order to be systematic, we want them stored there

@tripleee oh, right, forgot about it.

It's a touchy subject, everyone is free to feedback as they please. The combination of the cigarette and the email in one of the posts made me go Rude, as it wasn't a simple innocent misplaced drawing, but I did debate about going NAA

Oh well.
and neither is deleted yet, lol
(he posted two.)

as a bonus, the user is now blacklisted, so further posts by the same user will be flagged

@ShadowWizard sure, but having the evidence at hand helps

The train, by it's color, It is Indian railway.

@SagarV probably, yeah...
Guess there's no toilets on such a train...

it is there.

And how exactly one can reach it? lol
I assume that if someone need to go he just... let it go, literally. :)

While travelling from office to native on vacations(12 hour journey), if reservation is not available,...
@ShadowWizard This is says it all

8:57 AM
They really can't just buy more trains? (the train company or government)

We can't even stand properly. Sometime, get into toilet, lock the door and stand there for hours. There, we can, atleast stand properly

@SagarV and faint from the smell.... :D
And as I said, this way there's no toilets, or none that can be used.

Passenger coaches numbered 46,722 on 31 March 2012. Other coaches (luggage coach, parcel van, guard's coach, mail coach, etc.) numbered 6,560 on 31 March 2012.

Great, someone upvoted the MSE troll. Haha. Funny.

Coz it is a night train. night 8.20 to morning 8.00

9:02 AM
@SagarV because nobody had chance to use it? :)
I never was in train's toilets, been on train only few times at all. All while in the army, and most of the times used bus.

Let them suffer. We are safe :-)

@Disney , poetry!

@JNat thanks!
@humn I've seen sites where their official chat room was frozen/replaced.
So Tavern is still in good standing. :D
@tripleee what about that user?
@tripleee hard to get 20k rep in one month. Possible, but hard. ;)
200*30 is only 6k, so need lots of bounties.

@ShadowWizard + accepted answers

yeah
but 15 rep is tiny

@ShadowWizard last one with 20k in the sorted listing (but also I thought the user name was funny)

@tripleee oh lol

@ShadowWizard should make atleast 1000 accepted answers

10:42 AM
I think I gave away over 20k in bounties by now on MSE

1000 * 15 + 30*200 = 15k + 6k => 21k

yup
> 235 Offered bounties for 23,350 reputation
@SagarV 1000 accepted answers in a month.... sure, possible.

I think not.
atleast for me
Reviewing is so easy for me now.

I used to review tons of suggested edits on SO few years ago. It used to be fun. Until it became not fun.

I mean, why bother, if crap get approved anyway?

user202362
Broke is a village of approximately 636 people in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia in Singleton Shire. It is located 157 kilometres (98 mi) to the north of Sydney on the original early colonial road from Sydney to Singleton (24 kilometres (15 mi) north). == Description == The Broke area is well known for its boutique wine production and is usually referred to as the 'Broke-Fordwich' wine region (a sub-region to the more famous Pokolbin area nearby). There is also substantial open-cut and underground coal mining in the area between Broke and Singleton. The village also holds an annual...

ehh
can we not abuse deletions as staffer PMS please?
Its not what deletions are for, and its annoying to see multiple (removed)

@JourneymanGeek It is actually regarding an issue but I think it is not a big issue to be asked on Meta SE.
So, deleted messages can only be seen by mod's.
And it contains images so other won't be disturbed

@JourneymanGeek eh, good question! Maybe into the river as @Dis guessed, maybe just on the floor... lol

11:41 AM
Its still somewhat annoying to those without mod/RO powers ;p
@ShadowWizard there's a concrete thing. MIGHT be a urinal maybe

@Sag I agree with @Journeyman if you want to talk with specific user about something, create a new room and chat there, don't litter existing rooms for this.
don't write and then delete just so it's "viewable by mod only".
Plus, @rene and @Jason can also see your deleted messages, as room owners. @Sag.

Just when I wanted to write that RO can see deleted message

So if you thought it's "private", you were wrong.
@Disney you're too slow. ;)

@Disney oddly enough, I was an RO before I was a mod ;)
(entirely by accident)

but not here....
Anyone can be RO by just creating a room... :D

11:46 AM
@ShadowWizard I was the root access RO because the system automatically set me as such, cause an old RO was inactive and I was, too much so

@ShadowWizard flag marked as helpful but nothing happens to question meta.stackexchange.com/questions/297650/…

12:09 PM
Its deleted. It would be deleted automatically eventually too

@SagarV Let's agree to not do that again, OK? If you don't think it could be permanent in the transcript either don't post at all or create a room for your own where you're not bothering anyone.

12:56 PM
@SagarV Whatever you were doing, don't. It's annoying.

Hi
There's an issue that kinda bugs me
Say in a situation like this:
GuyA: You forgot pyrrole is aromatic.
GuyB: @GuyA What do you mean?
Now GuyA deletes his comment.
That makes GuyB's comment obsolete.
Do you suggest something like banning self-deletion on comments that are pinged by another user?

user315433

user315433
Some interesting database names there. PRIZM? Calculon? And WebApps somehow got sorted ahead of SO.

They messed up the thumbnail but yeah

5:14 PM
@PrittBalagopal not really. Comments are second-class citizen that can be deleted anytime. Anything that's important to be mentioned should be ideally put into the answer. Also, if it makes GuyB's comment obsolete, then there's an exclusive option for that on comment flag dialog.

user315433
Except it's not obvious if moderators will see that WDYM comment is obsolete without looking at all the comments there...

user315433
@PrittBalagopal Besides other issues, the @ pings are not tied to any particular comment. They are linked to target user only.

Q: Congratulations! Ethereum is graduating!

Grace NoteYou've been cleared for graduation by the Stack Exchange Community Team! Aviation met our threshold for graduation-worthy sites and after a review, the Community Team determined that you're good to go. Reaching 'mature community' status is a big milestone, and you should be very proud. What does...

user315433
Not clear why Ethereum is graduating because of Aviation meeting a threshold, but whatever.

user315433

@bjb568 In what ways?

Ethereum: 1y5m old, gets 35 questions/day and 32k visits/day

Very interesting. Either Ethereum is really hot, or Bitcoin is passé, or both.

Q: How can we get Bitcoin to graduate?

bluefeetRecently, I was asked about whether or not Bitcoin was ready to graduate, after looking at the site statistics it looks like it's ready, but there are some things holding the site back which I'd like to address. When we review the health of a site, in terms of graduation, one of the first thing...

user315433
Or, ETH folks have consolidated on SE platform while Bitcoin folks didn't really.

user315433
6:30 PM
> The community currently has about 57 users with 2k+ reputation, of these users, only about half of them have been active on the site over the past 30 days.

user315433
That was bluefeet's objection to Bitcoin's graduation, but Ethereum has 31 users with 2k+ rep in total. Even if all of them are active, it's not different from Bitcoin.

user315433
My query gets 36 users with 2K and last access within 30 days for Bitcoin, versus 27 for Ethereum. Sooo?

Unfortunately, Bitcoin suffers from a lack of engaged users who stick around. My worry is they will not be able to manage an election or raised rep levels for privileges. Things stick around in the review queue because no one is around to do anything.

user315433
The increase of privilege levels is tied to getting custom design, which nowadays happens quite a while after graduation.

user315433
The review thing is troubling, of course.

user315433
6:42 PM
99 first posts in Bitcoin's queue right now. :/

Ethererum graduated, iota commited... yeah, BitCoin's not doing well

I spent quite a bit of time looking at Bitcoin to see if they could graduate, I decided against it because they need more users engaged. I'd rather hold them back then graduate and then they can't even support an election

user315433
Perhaps the post "How can we get Bitcoin to graduate?" should have mentioned the review clog specifically. As Ethereum shows, it's not a direct function of the number of users with some rep level.

user315433
ETH folks somehow got enthusiastic about this site early on, it was kind of a big deal for an upcoming cryptocurrency to have its own SE site.

user315433
Apparently still is, seeing how IOTA has invaded Area 51.

user315433

@Walt maybe leave a comment under the meta post to mention/ask if reviewing is also considered to be participation?

I'd post an answer pointing out the review situation, but it'd be hypocritical for me to do that, as I'm on a long sabbatical from reviewing.
