s/bug/security flaws/

Is there any similar question discussed?

The benefits are sweet glorious internet points here
I'd be willing to wager SE would send you some stickers at least, if you found a security vulnerability ;-)

yes some points (meant by benefit)

I'm not sure what you're asking

6:44 AM
The question being asked is does SE give rep in exchange for finding a security hole. The answer is no

@JamesENL yes, it may be reputation or badges at-least!

uh no, that would conflict the entire Q&A model

Q: Implement the Hacker Badge

Jeremy Banks from Stack Overflow Badge Feedback - Blog - Stack Overflow I’m specifically referring to the secret Stack Overflow hacker badge. It does exist, though it has yet to be awarded. (There might even be some other secret badges out there.. who knows?) It’s just taking a while ...

There is however the Hall of Fame: stackexchange.com/about/security

@Snowman et al., sorry for the delay, but we may need another week or two. In addition to the "we're busy with multiple things at once" reason (which is both true and not at all unusual), it seems the fact that we're a distributed team has been no barrier to many of us recently getting sick all at once, which hasn't helped matters. We definitely haven't forgotten about the request, though! — Pops ♦ 11 hours ago

@ShadowWizard Duck Duck Go.

@Pandya well, the first field is your user name. SE employees can see your email, so I guess that if your request is handled, they will send you an email.

@ShadowWizard OK btw, as you said:

@Oded so will you decline the feature request? Or leave it to higher powers to decide? :)
what do you mean by higher powers?

9:15 AM
@Pandya Oded is "only" a developer, meaning not a manager. Maybe such decision (to decline the request) should arrive from a manager.
Though I'm sure the devs got some "pass" when it's about non critical bugs or requests. :)

I think all mod have same power on MSE. So anyone can do

@Pandya technical power, of course. One type of diamond. But when it's about decisions to make, there's some hierarchy.
Shog is on top along with managers/VP like Jaydles, David, etc, then the other CM's, then developers. I think. :)

@ShadowWizard how do you know hierarchy-tree?
Is there any meta-post or blog about it?

@Pandya nah, it's also ever changing. I just ask around sometimes, and don't know the full tree myself of course.

@ShadowWizard IIRC according to Joel's philosophy of management, big decisions at SE are made by who knows most about the subject
So that might be Oded

Expatriates vs foreign workers

@Pandya I thought he meant the community team >_<

Stack Exchange now is Stack Overflow. So that would make sense

@Magisch yeah, we do. A manager will not make a decision like that to decline/not decline. A developer or community manager would decide (for some things there might be a discussion within a team or between teams)

9:37 AM
@Bart what do you mean by Stack Exchange now is Stack Overflow?

MagischA few weeks ago my cat (just barely not a kitten anymore) got into a fight with a small forest Owl. The owl didn't survive this. The cat has not been acting strange since and I noticed no injuries so far. Should I be worried? Could there be internal injuries that only show later?

@Quill I hate HNQ. Pure clickbait.

@S.L.Barth I like HNQ. Entertainment
@Quill Disappointmentation

@TIPS Fair enough... opinions vary.

@S.L.Barth I used to hate it, like you.

@TIPS Not sure what gnat said about them, but knowing Gnat, I can guess....

Everything stops looking bad once you tell yourself that it's not good questions that make it to the HNQ most of the time.

I wonder if it were different without Worldbuilding.SE . That site seems on the fringe of the SE model. It seems very much a site for speculative questions.
@TIPS That's part of the problem, yes.

Well, they finished the project of building a site where you can close every question as POB long ago.

HNQ is supposed to advertise our other sites, but it's often advertising the questions we DON'T consider good examples.

And just to be clear on this: WorldBuilding.SE has a place. It's interesting to see how we can extend the SE model.
On SO, it got ever more restrictive. With the Recommendations sites and Worldbuilding, we're opening up again.

Next site: Homework.SE

@TIPS Like Mathematics.SE, that site has a few good users.

Proportionally much smaller.

We should create a special SE site where you get review privileges from the start. IWantGoldBadgesForMindlessClicking.SE .
Maybe SE could monetize the robo-reviewing. If someone clicks Approve more than 7 times in a minute, they get an interstitial ad :-)

or add some clickbaiting iframes ;)

We should give them a disputed percentage and ban them from the queue when they're beneath a certain amount

7:23 PM

@S.L.Barth No, more ads with blinking marquee that say "Mods hate this guy. Found out how he got banned so fast."
