With 107k rep, does this really impact you that much? Why let yourself get aggravated over something that no one will ever know about? It'd take 150 years of flying under the radar before he knocked your rep down to the point where it impacted your privileges, and since he'd lose 1 point for every 2 of yours, you'd probably win that war of attrition. — Johnny Bones 15 hours ago

Hans Passant made the argument that a Western website should apply Western ideas of what's offensive and not.

user163250
1:04 PM
Hmm, a Western web site tends to apply Western sensibilities. Nothing offensive about "Fidel Castro" or "Worshiper of Lust" in that neck of the woods, they are merely silly. The moderator should not have changed the name. But there was more wrong with this user, looks like he applied his localized sensibilities to voting. Perfectly normal there, a grave infraction here. Yup, well done. :)

5:05 PM
If I have answered my own question in a different way than others have done on some questions which MAY look similar, is it still considered a duplication?

Is the question a duplicate?

I somewhat created that duplicated question because the other questions are saturated with very bad answers or duplicated answers which does not solve my slightly different question.
Not really.

If it isn't really, there's nothing to worry about. If you are really concerned you could clearly indicate why another question you found isn't a duplicate. But if nobody says anything I wouldn't really go pointing any similarity out

The answer doesn't factor in. If question is a duplicate, post your answer on another question. If the question is not a duplicate, post the question (with enough information to make it clear it's not a duplicate). You can self answer then. The question should be able to stand alone, without your self answer.

OK.
Thanks!
