What is Gamma and how does it relate to music? — Shevliaskovic 19 hours ago
wat...wat....wat?!?!

Hi people, are questions about close reasons that are present in many sites considered off-topic in meta?

@nicael Gamma scale?
@CRags not based on that description, no. Why?

I want to post a feature request to reclassify homework as on-topic but against policy

@Bart Yep! But can't it be just gamma...

@nicael Sure. I don't see why not. But perhaps they never heard of gamma scale before and hence don't get why "Gamma" ... ?

3:51 PM
@Bart homework definitely is on-topic but against policy.

@CRags it's isn't. As in, we don't care about homework. We only care about good questions.

@Bart I understand that. But currently questions closed as homework are displayed as off-topic

user259867
@Bart For context: C Rags's remark is more about Biology and other science sites than, say, Stack Overflow

user259867
@CRags Sure, Meta is an appropriate place for a feature request like this: introduce support for site-specific closing reasons that are not off-topic. However, consider that it may be a duplicate.

Q: Shouldn't "off-topic" be only about... off-topic?

TheTerribleSwiftTomatoA related question/discussion point to this one posted just now, but with a completely different rationale. Whenever a question is closed because it doesn't contain SSCCE, or specific code, it also gets marked as "off-topic". I would argue that this is confusing, especially to new users, since t...

Personally, I don't have a problem with such closing reasons being nested under off-topic. For me it's a part of SE-speak, just as "unanswered questions may have answers".

@FamousBlueRaincoat then the site-specific Meta would be a decent target still

plz use $1 instead of \1
