It's so quite in here. :P
I'm eating gluten-free burgers. :3
Starting #4.
00:27
That's a lot of burger.
This wouldn't be a proper tavern without burgers.
00:55
@animuson I thought for a second you were saying that there was gluten in the meat. :D
01:11
@Shog9 thank you for helping me out before, concrns were raised in chat of the site (Cog Sci) that there were a lot of new rubbish questions - I hd only made a question (and an answer), but was a newbie, so I did not want to add to their nuisance any further

2 hours later…
02:50
phew, that was a close call - meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/217443/… would have no doubt have been downvoted to heck if I did
@Amaterasu I don't think it would have - it's a good idea, but the point is that are flags like that common enough to have it?
maybe I should ask that?
Hmm, I don't know. It does seem like it would come under other as a flag, so I don't know.
true, meh, I won't ask it
03:06
@Undo You have your own tag! :P
tis a stupid suggestion I made really
@Amaterasu I'm sorry, but no, it's actually a good idea. It just wouldn't (probably) be used enough for it to be nessecary. Don't fool yourself into thinking that just because someone points out a flaw in it, it's a bad idea. It's not.
@Amaterasu meh. Take things folks say in chat with a grain of salt.
And some tequila.
And a lime, of course.
It's not happy hour anymore, @Shog9.
bullshit
just finished a couple of really nice porters
yesss
Is there a Don't chat drunk rule?
no
are you crazy?
no
I love chatting drunk
If you can still type, you can still chat
03:16
One beer is the ideal amount for me
At 7000ft, 3 about does it for me
At sea level, it takes a few more
I've never been that high
Fortunately for my wallet, I'm at 7000ft
okay, I'll post it and see how it goes
DO IT!
The most you can lose is worthless meta rep and privs
03:17
At 3 beers, my stomach starts to complain
@Shog9 that is not reassuring..... anyways, I am posting it as an answer to the threead
@Shog9 I am crazy, shouldn't that show up on my user page?
?
but, yes, probably
Like the leaving out my milk option. It should be there, right?
naw. You're just crazy.
03:24
Darn. I don't know my mod/CM tools.
@Shog9 @hichris123 I put my idea in an answer
so i see...
would want a specialized flag, not a close option; we don't close plagiarism; we edit it or DELETE IT
ruthlessly
no ruths allowed
...i'll see about writing that up
should I edit or delete my answer?
who in the heck is Evan Carroll?
just had an ..'interesting' chat with him chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/13389701#13389701
@Amaterasu he is... An interesting fella
@Shog9 he is indeed and as you can see in my chat with him, he was quite a charater
@Shog9 did the wording of my answer make sense at all?
03:36
yes
@Amaterasu edit, yes. Let's face it: folks plagiarize answers way more than questions. No need to bother considering closure.
i am wondering should just delete it?
The most plagiarism is in the tag wiki, isn't there?
I edited my answer a bit
@Amaterasu looooooool
@Pëkka he referred to Amaterasu as 'Fido'....
03:40
There is a ppor guy in North Carolina who happens to share his name.
He must have a tough time finding customers
I wonder if he is a membr?
"Hello, my name is Evan Carroll, I would like to make your communications experience more personal!" click
@Pëkka did you like my chat with him?
in other news I am slightly less of a fat, ugly socially inept and rather stupid slob... lost 2.7kg in 3 weeks
@Amaterasu From the looks of your chat... an interesting character he is...
yup, he seems to not be as 'awesome' or 'great' as he claims to be
03:55
Oh, is he that person who has a Wikipedia user page about himself and has a link to his mSO profile?
Lemme look.
@Amaterasu very funny.
@hichris123 yes
@Pëkka Link please for my amusement?
he definitely did not know my nickname is named for the Japanese mythological sun goddess
calling it 'Fido'
Here we go:
Future President of the United States, Dr. Sri Sri Evan John Carroll GBE (born September 10 1985 CE – never) aka The Evan Carroll, or simply The Evan is totally awesome. He is known for his ability to split water as he walks on it. Evan is currently employed as a highly senior computer software engineer or programmer and ruthlessly wastes lots of time improving technical and local articles on Wikipedia. His public distaste and abhorrence for sarcasm is well known. Also known, is his willingness to create words when they don't exist, claiming them for the betterment of the language. ...
@Amaterasu You'll get a laugh out of this page
holy crap...
I am seeing a lot of '[citation needed]' in there
04:00
huh... Never really considered his birth date before. I have 3 relatives born on the same day of the year. 9/10 is an auspicious date.
Heh, what a coincidence.
lol, instead of [citation needed], there is a [weasel words]
That was terrifying reading
04:51
how goes the tavern this lovely friday night
05:03
Met this on my closevoting spree :-D
If you can use regexes, you can assuredly use std::string. And regex for a single char is just, kinda, moronic... — Lightness Races in Orbit yesterday
I want to say I saw that too
Made me chuckle a little
05:18
can someone nuke this spamtard chemistry.stackexchange.com/users/4287/user67848 - spammers are useless scum
on the same note, there's a lot of outstanding spam on Magento. Again.
spammers, once caught, should be castrated so they don't breed and hung, drawn and quartered and eaten alive by fire ants and frced to listen to the dribble that comes from One Direction and Justin Beiber
Hate to be unoriginal, but Beatles once were singing the same kind of stupid love songs 1D does.
OK, I'm out of flags on Magento. Again.
overpaid pretty boys
Open your realtime tabs, I'm out of my spam flags.
05:25
Finalllly got the platinum trophy on Assassin's Creed 4. Man was that a boring grind.
@JanDvorak how?
nm found it
Step 1: http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/193646/spam-deluge-over-at-webapps-and-pretty-much-all-over-se/193681#193681
Step 2: http://stackexchange.com/questions?tab=realtime#
Note: 1 request per second is considered too much by the Stack Exchange bot, and it's counted network-wide. Stupid spammer.
all spammers are stupid, like advertisers
Who was complaining about GMail being down? ^

1 hour later…
06:54
damn worthless piece of subhuman crap spammer is back on chem.SE chemistry.stackexchange.com/users/4288/user4288
All spammers should be put to a slow and excrutiatingly painful death
in Whining Room, 1 hour ago, by michaelb958
Don't they ever stop?
07:54
the ones on magento are getting boring...
and another on on chem.SE
I've called out the chem.se one already, or do you mean a different one?
these subhuman spammers need to be tracked down and incapacitated in a way that they can never send their crap and also so they never breed
there is another one
@Amaterasu Use $.castrate(), but always supply an argument.
08:02
@michaelb958 lol
08:45
I'll leave the rest of magento.se to you
lolwat
09:11
Now this suggested audit was slightly tricky :-)
"navigator drawer ands hit the tablistener interface win32 version" is enough to know it's a suggested audit :P
It's easy for suggested-edits queue, but CV audits are harder (at least, that's what I think)
I passed it, but I had to read the text :-)
I pass CV audits by observing the timing
should I be ashamed?
I'm out of CV review points for today, but I still have 11 votes to spend. Any volunteers?
09:29
I think I casted the last spam flag needed on that question on magento @JanDvorak
@JanDvorak the timing is the give away I wanted to keep for myself :-)
No shame needed, you pay attention (sort of)
Hrm, anyone recommend a free video editor that doesn't leave stupid watermarks?
Can anyone take a look at my reputation history?
What kind of editing @animuson? Something like Lightworks or Blender perhaps?
I was serially upvoted twice within the last two days, and after that some of the upvotes weren't removed during the reversal. Any ideas why this might be happening?
@Bart Just basic tools. Cutting things together, compressing.
09:36
@animuson does the MS video editor leave watermarks?
Microsoft has a video editor?
indeed
Should I ask a question on Meta about it?
you can flag suspicious voting patterns after the script is done not kicking in
@AmalMurali Which votes? Your reputation history looks fine to me...
09:39
@animuson windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/… but if it's packaged with Windows Live be prepared to install Writer, Email, Messenger and a lot of other useless stuff as well...
Haha that's the first thing it asks.
Like noooooooo nonononononono
It is a package deal
You have to install Photo Gallery to install Movie Maker, but you can skip all the other stuff.
@rene "I'm writing PHP, here's some SQL."
0_0 I've just seen a question with this exact title:
> HALP DEBUG MY ASSIGNMENT ASAP
And this in the body:
> but it no work for mysql database plz give me teh codez
look up 7 messages ^^^^
09:44
@JanDvorak: this one right?
@AmalMurali aye
Smells like a troll.
@JanDvorak that has to be fake
@AmalMurali *smells himself* indeed
@animuson: You're right. I was confused. I just re-checked and I see all votes were removed correctly.

1 hour later…
11:01
@JanDvorak If you still have CV left stackoverflow.com/questions/21349654/…
I just screwed my debian server...
Well done good Sir
Turns out that installing from unstable means that your box becomes unstable. Never knew that.
11:18
I think animosity expressed in here towards the people posting spam is...weird.
One should reserve one's animosity for truly distasteful things. Like Active Directory. We have flags for spam. There are no flags for AD.
This question appears to be off-topic because it's about the horrifying piece of technology know as Active Directory OH GOD RUN GET OUT WHILE YOU CA-
Well thank you @jadarnel27. I just paid a hypnotist to remove all traces of AD from my brain, just so I could close all such questions as "Unclear what you're asking". Now that has all been for nothing.
11:43
Uh...whoops! Sorry 'bout that, @Bart!
The close reason probably still applies.
Or "off-topic" -> "belongs on another site" -> "Server Fault."
What made me think it was a good idea to wake up this early on a Saturday?

1 hour later…
Don't see why he would need to delete the account in the first place @Amaterasu.
13:43
not sure either, but thought i'd help
Ah well, got nuked anyway
listening...
16:18
Hmmm, looks like my debian server is going to recover...
16:37
does the tag mean that "poorly researched questions are okay but it must be applicable enough and not a dup"?
Mat
Mat
Gah. Kill it with fire.
(The tag, not the question.)
and, the question? It must be a duplicate
lemme try
You should have a question about floating point counting errors with no language specified..
Close them as dupes of the Wikipedia article on floating point calculations.
17:01
on that this stackoverflow.com/questions/2384755/… just had my close vote. But if the tag should go, is there a better tag? (except no-tag)
no-tag seems fine
seems like a fine alternative for
this is on its way to delete? stackoverflow.com/questions/11588949/…
gone
Damn. I forgot to downvote
18:02
@JanDvorak holy frick there are some poor answers in there
18:35
> migration rejected from stackoverflow.com just now
Ok, I'm in love with you guys right now.
@animuson What question?
I'm even going to offer up some more of @jadarnel27's french kisses for this improvement.
Um... I don't even get the question. Do they want us to lower the rep levels?
18:56
What feature is that, @animuson? I was thinking migration rejections are old news, so I don't think that's it.
The text actually changes to "migration rejected" now. previously it always just stayed "migrated" no matter what.
Question: how can a locked question be closed? In the rev history it shows the post as being locked before it was closed.
They happen simultaneously.
Ah, you're right. Didn't look at the timestamps.
RESEED ALL THE DATA DUMP!
19:20
Well that's pretty damn generous!
Though I can't help but laugh when I read things measured in gibibytes. It sounds so...silly.
"75.4 gibibytes this session" - lol
See?

1 hour later…
20:47
I would like to request that someone in here periodically remind me not to agree to help people move.
Hey @jadarnel27
...watch your step here, @Bart.
@Bart Yes?
/me is slowly backing away....
Hahaha
I'm bandaged. And tired. And I tore my designer jeans.
Though arguably that makes them more stylish.
You basically out-designed the designer there
20:52
Indeed. I wonder, though, if the blood stains are going to be fashionable any time soon.
And these designs were from the time where @jadarnel27 was in his "Dexter" period. I'd like you to particularly take in the delicate bloodsplatter here which really takes this design up a notch
All fine and well, all these Github activity graphs and diagrams, but right now they are telling me I've been a lazy bastard.
Is bootstrap an easy-to-use thing and is it actually useful?
I just had someone send me a message on Facebook, asking if I could send them a (free) copy of my CD, because they had "worn [theirs] out."
@jadarnel27 1. People still use CD's? And 2. Um... they seriously think that you're going to believe them?
That just made me laugh. And I am totally going to send them one, just because they even tried that tactic.
@hichris123 Haha, I certainly do not use CDs.
And the only time we end up selling hard copies is at shows.
There is an option on the website to buy a physical CD, but everyone just opts for the download.
21:05
Somehow you should find a way to sell digital copies at shows.
@jadarnel27 Just scan a CD and mail it to them as an attachment.
6
Never wears out
@Bart I bet you've done that, too.
@Bart Fantastic idea.
Ok, so my question got migrated, so I created an account on the site. Only problem is the comments weren't reassociated sound.stackexchange.com/questions/23967/…
22:01
Hunting plagiators in the Android tag is like shooting fish in a barrel. It's a bit disheartening.
An innocent search for a code comment like "//here,we are making a folder named picFolder to store pics taken by the camera using this application" leads to three new users that need checking out
Ah well.
@Pëkka Plagiators = people who commit plagerism? (For a second there it looked like alligator + plague) :P
@hichris123 yes, exactly. :)
It's come so far that I'm tempted to upvote answers simply because they are original contributions.
So that's what you do in your free time. Are you sure you have enough to do?
append "or you didn't steal the content" to the upvote tooltip.
@hichris123 nah, checking out a pageful of answers is my 15-minute break from work. It satisfies the Neighbourhood Watchman inside me.
22:12
@Pëkka How do you search for them?
@hichris123 I don't, actively - the current trawl started the other day with this Meta question. Checking out people's answers on Google then leads to others that have plagiarized the same contribution.
Sometimes, plagiators are easy to spot because people who have trouble building a sentence suddenly speak perfect, crystal-clear English with American idioms => most often a copy-pasta job
That's how we found most of the plagiarism in the scientific papers of the journal I handled @Pëkka.
Botched English suddenly turning into beautiful phrases.
Hmm. Chose a random answer from the 175 yet-undeleted answers posted by the first plagiarist in question. It's plagiarized, of course.
22:34
Pff, a lot of it's plagiarized. Should all of that be flagged individually? Should it just be edited to give proper attribution?
I don't think attribution is appropriate, @Bart, unless the content's from a source with a friendly license, like Wikipedia or SO.
Myeah, that's what I'm thinking.
I was wondering the same thing, about the appropriate action to take for a user with hundreds of answers.
@Pëkka I should renovate the Regulator Headquarters/Posse Comitatus room and reopen it as The Italian Restaurant. It could be the #1 copy pasta restaurant in the downtown MSO business district practically overnight, I tell you!
@Bart I don't see the point in doing that when the entire answer is copied from elsewhere. And honestly, it wouldn't be fair looking at the effort it takes to track the stuff down - when you do this at Uni, you get (at least) an F for that paper, and getting (at least) the answer nuked is the Stack Overflow equivalent to that
@Pops oh yes please!
We could have Linguine
And Pappardelle
All made from delicious plagiarism.
22:42
So the only option would be to flag each individual case then @Pëkka.
@animuson Would hate me with all the "other" flags
@Pops Can we post spam there?
Does it look like an American restaurant?
Oh thanks, I was hoping we'd pass 1k other flags.
@Pops Yes. La Trattoria is a weird English word.
22:52
@Pops Va bene!
@Bart yeah, sadly.
23:04
@animuson What's going on with that?
23:15
Let's handle all the flags!
@animuson Want any help?
Oh, can anyone tell me why there was a dip in the close queue like a few hours ago? hichris.erwaysoftware.com/closegraph.php

^ Has this ever been completed?
What part of "six to eight weeks" don't you understand?
:)
@Bart Hmm, maybe just give you a diamond. :P
23:28
@hichris123 Still waiting. ;P
Giving me a diamond? I'm not sure that's a wise thing to do
@Bart Well maybe it was a literal six to eight weeks. :P
@animuson Keep us posted on your progress =)
> we've finally worked out the remaining details, and will be proceeding with the split in six to eight weeks. No, I'm not kidding, we're shooting for somewhere around the middle of January. Seriously, stop laughing, six to eight weeks is a perfectly reasonab .. I digress.
Heh, six to eight weeks strikes again. No mSE in sight. :)
23:44
@hichris123 I don't want to be an pita but it looks like your count of cv is off by 1000. Not that it makes a lot of difference...but I recorded here the number of tasks when I started my CV review action and if I look in the graph around the same time it is a 1000 more.
Is it the raw data or is highcharts playing tricks?
@rene Was that UTC time? It's in UTC time on the graph (I think).
21:44
What day?
Oh, today.
today
Huh.
Are you sure it was that number?
It's 110.1K right now, so unless the queue grew by 1K in a few hours...
23:54
Hmm, I think I'm sure but now... I'll do the same tomorrow, so we have some more datapoints.
Okay. If it is that wrong... I don't know how that would happen.
I just rolledback this question.
Mwuahahaha the flags queue is below 1400 (it's sad that's something to celebrate).
You had no plans tonight, right @animuson? Flag queue empty it is!
This is the user on that question. He also ruined another question of himself. Maybe lock his posts for now?
23:58
Molested?
Is that not a word?
Or do I get flagged for that?
