I just set up a spinning icon using Font Awesome. It looks great, but when I add a text shadow to it the text shadow starts spinning with the icon

@TimYiJiang - Sounds awesome. Can you post a video/animation of this effect?

Add a text-shadow to the animated element

IIRC somebody made a website hosting HTML versions of closed sites, generated from their dumps. I can't seem to find the post about it. Does anybody remember?
@JeremyBanks Never heard of it, but there's a period of time where I couldn't be active on MSO, so I might have missed it

@JeremyBanks I can't find a reference to an actual site that does this, but I did find a script by real Josh for converting data dumps to HTML:

Q: soDumpMe: a Ruby script co convert Data Dump XML to HTML

Josh Screenshot / Code Snippet Screenshot coming soon! About This app was created to solve a request on Meta that the XML of the data dump is not readable. This app aims to convert the XML to HTML. This needs a lot of work to be useful! As more development is done I will update this question. ...

It seems to have been born in response to this MSO post:

Q: Data dump of closed beta sites

MeysamThe data dump of some closed beta sites are available in xml format. Is it possible to see their content in a more readable form? Why are not these data available in HTML format too? One of the problems, for example, is that if I want to see the comments of a post, I have to search for them i...

@PopularDemand Thanks, I guess I'll use that. I'm sure I remember seing such a site, but a bunch of searching didn't turn anything up.

Is it possible to see deleted answers? I posted a question which has been closed and finally locked, and two of the replies also disappeared, one of them being quite useful.

What site is it on? If Stack Overflow I can get the answers' contents for you.

Q: Send HTTP request from PHP without waiting for response?

fekleeI want to have an HTTP GET request sent from PHP. Example: http://tracker.example.com?product_number=5230&price=123.52 Requirement: The request should take as little time as possible. (it is not necessary to wait for the response) Suggestions? cURL with very short timeouts? Update: Just ...

Actually, I remember the answer. But I think it would be nice if it was available for others to see as well.
Anonymous
@feklee Unfortunately there's no way for regular users/visitors to see deleted posts. There has been a lot of discussion about it over the years, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Will probably deleted the answers because most of their value was in the external links, which we don't like answers to rely on. (Too many old answers that become useless due to broken links, but continue to clutter up the site until somebody fixes them.)

Thanks a lot! The shell_exec answer is the one I´d like to see restored, but I guess I have to wait for a moderator to take action (flagged).

If the post were edited to contain a bit more detail or an example it would probably be okay. As it is, it's iffy whether it will be restored.

@JeremyBanks Well I disagree with Will (cURL is a standard tool, and the other message contained a useful link to another SO question). Will obviously didn't read my last comment. In particular - as I wrote - I am looking for methods. So the justification for closing the question is not just. Before that it was marked as a duplicate to a question which is related, but certainly requires a different answer.
My only explanation for the whole issue: People don't take the time to think about the questions that they are moderating, and they don't want to admit failure.
Really, if I find the time to do more in depth research, and I find a good answer, then what can I do?
Create the same question again, and post the answer?
Or even post one of the already existing answers myself, just to make it mark as accepted?
One of the answers that @Will deleted may be a very good and simple solution. I am just worried about performance, as written in my comment.
Anonymous
@feklee He seems to have conceded that it wasn't a duplicate, and so re-closed it as "not constructive" instead. Let me see...
Really, I just want a good question and answer to be out there. But if it's such a pain...
Anonymous
I agree that the question seems alright.

Sorry, if the answer is "use this package [link]" then we actively discourage questions like this, as they attract link rot and spam. Please visit [Meta] for more info on this. — Will 1 hour ago
@JeremyBanks Do you mean my question or the justification by @Will?
Anonymous
18:15
@feklee Your question. I was going to comment on Will's comment as well, but I'm having trouble phrasing it... I don't agree with him.
Anonymous
I'll also flag it, since it's been locked so I can't vote to reopen.
I think @Will misread my last comment where I mentioned: In fact, if I discover that the method used in php-ga is a great one ... post that as an answer for benefit of all. Note that I wrote method used in php-ga, not simply php-ga.
Anonymous
@feklee That seems plausible.
@JeremyBanks Thanks for flagging!

I sure wish they'd fix this problem:

Q: Please make the multiple comment timer less annoying (non-reseting etc.)

jdmAs a little feature to prevent comment spam, you can only enter one comment every 15 seconds. That's a very reasonable limitation, since you very rarely have a good reason to write comments that quickly. I've only seen it twice at all, I think, but both times it was extremely annoying. Only 1...

Thank you to the mod who deleted the comment thread, it had degenerated (on both parts), and then I took a look at the User Profile and realized that it was really not productive.

So someone objected to much to an edit I made to his question that he internet-stalked me and mailed random people at my employer asking me to stop editing his questions. Figured y'all'd get a kick out of that one.

That is, incidentally, the reaction my coworkers had.
Wait, and over that edit? o_O
Uhhuh.
I...don't even know what to say about that.

the more I think about what kind "message" is sent by script actions like these to target voter, the more weird it feels. Hey, remember that guy who advertised Gucci handbags yesterday? Next time you'll see stuff like that, don't even attempt to downvote because it will be reverted.gnat Jan 12 at 7:32

@PopularDemand lol!
@Charles WTFF O_o
And now I'm being yelled at by other SO users because I dared to call out the user on his idiocy by emailing my coworkers.
Is it a full moon or something?
@Charles no idea. Either way, consider raising a mod flag on the post - that is so far off limits
I think you should go to his place of business and we can have a Stack Exchange-sponsored cage match.
23:11
@TimStone that is an even better idea.
Webcast live, of course
Of course
Oh and Joel must provide real-time commentary.
It must be Joel
It can be nobody else.
The winner's revision wins.
And they get Stack Exchange swag
I nominate Dennis Miller to provide colour commentary.
A water bottle and a sticker.
I heard that's a really good* idea.
