Ahura Mazda (sorta the Persian Zeus) was at times at odds with Mitra and at times her lover

Later on he was always portrayed as divine, not evil

As in, the end of Achaemenids and Sassanids (which were theocratic)

Come to think of it, maybe religion should have evolved like that. "Well my god says heaven is full of ice cream, not that weird milk honey stream or whatever"

. . . Yeah Quran says there are streams of honeyed milk flowing in heaven
