@rene k trolling, roflcopter pretty much proves it's a troll.
@JourneymanGeek thanks!
09:21
can anyone guess what the round thing on the pizza slice actually is?
Hint: not a tomato.
09:34
@SPArcheon Slice of banana or crushed testicle?
@Tinkeringbell please... First, I wouldn't post that. Second, you are stealing Shadow's role there.
Yeah well I don't see Shadow so someone has to do it.
hmm, I assume its blursed so...
Strawberry?
@JourneymanGeek nah...
Second hint: Japan is the culprit.
@SPArcheon Apricot?
09:48
fish eggs?
Whale?

@JourneymanGeek Bit small to be whale, isn't it?
And I don't think those lay eggs...
@Tinkeringbell not a whole whale
oh two different guesses
:P
If it has to be something Japanese.... That little round thing they have in their flag!
the sun?
Though you might be meaning Ume?
I dunno. Is that meant to be the sun? It's rather red for a sun...
10:01
Umeboshi (Japanese: 梅干し, pronounced [ɯmeboɕi], lit. 'dried ume') are pickled (brined) ume fruits common in Japan. The word umeboshi is often translated into English as 'salted Japanese plums', 'Japanese plums' or 'preserved plums'. Ume (Prunus mume) is a species of fruit-bearing tree in the genus Prunus, which is often called a "plum", but is actually more closely related to the apricot. Pickled ume which are not dried are called umezuke (梅漬け). Umeboshi are a popular kind of Japanese tsukemono ('pickled thing'; preserved or fermented) and are extremely sour and salty. Sweet umeboshi made with honey...
10:23
@JourneymanGeek correct.
Apricot is pretty close then.
tbh, Ume's something I need to try at some point. Its apparently vaguely similar to certain styles of south indian pickles
uhhh
That was for @SPArcheon
@Tinkeringbell the rising/setting sun can be red
@JourneymanGeek No, it is white. It only looks red due to how the white light hits the atmosphere ;)
@SPArcheon Is Ume a replacement for tomato? As in, tomatos are hard to get / will not grow / is unknown so they picked an (cheaper?) alternative?
(also that's the 'modern' flag)
@rene more adjusting it for 'local' tastes I suspect
10:34
I see.
Also typical in the Wiki article: The Dutch are mentioned ...
11:20
@rene It is a known fact that Japan universal replacement wildchar food is Fish, not umeboshi.
That seems logical.
You want to make a soup with no chicken? Add fish instead.
You wanted to decorate a cake but have no chocolate chips? Bonito flakes it is!
And how to forget things like fish ice cream

@SPArcheon What is wrong with a delicious seafood soup?
That reminds me I haven't had lobster in ages.
12:57
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact that until the fish was added, that was going to be chicken soup.
13:45
Sorry @Spevacus, no rep for you. That was a troll... I'll try to be faster so you don't waste time in the future.
@SPArcheon Tasty!
To be fair, many fish types are much like meat from land.
Whale, for instance.
Catfish.
@Tinkeringbell I had a sneaking suspicion something might happen :P
Maybe a bad translation. Meant the Atlantic wolffish
lol
@Spevacus tbf, I was thinking of posting "its none of your business, the affected user would be notified", but figured out from the link who it was
Fun stuff

The bold tags remind me of when I was 15 and emboldening everything in a powerpoint slide
@M.A.R. How bold of you
LMAOROTF
runs away to Sandbox
Lucky person who asked that question. ;)
17:04
@M.A.R. they forgot something...
Comic Sans.
@SPArcheon -1 not bottom-right aligned
17:21
@M.A.R. I just modified the font, the alignment is all on them.
BTW, coincidentally, since ugly designs are known to attract each other, I opened Youtube just to finally be greeted by the horrendous layout change.
to the smart guy who made that, it is a computer, not an android TV.
@SPArcheon This is an actual email I received from the US embassy in Greece in response to my email asking what procedure I should follow to report the death of my father:
Like, seriously. Who thought that comic sans is the right font to use when addressing bereaved family members!?
I mean, it's never the right font, but surely someone must have realized it's even worse here.
17:37
@terdon with all due respect, this immediately reminded me of that Gumball episode with the witch asking what "LOL" meant, Richard replying "Lot Of Love" and then her proceeding to write a letter "I am sad for your loss. LOL"
and yes, it is just as horrible as that.
Nah. Nothing is as horrible as using Comic Sans in official communication in the year 2023. And if that communication reads "we are sorry to hear about your loss" that's just adding insult to injury.
To be fair, it did make me smile on an otherwise very difficult day, but still :)

@Lundin The least popular of all time is actually hidden: the infamous "An Update to our Community and an Apology", deleted, with a score of -2242. — jscs 3 hours ago
^huh. now I want to read it. anyone have a link?
Oh deity. The meta meta comments about votes again?!
Buuuuuuurn
That whole thread is filled with niceties... I'll get the flamethrower tomorrow
@terdon I'm sorry for your loss
@Tinkeringbell I knew that post was missing the Tink touch
@terdon tragedy is a form of comedy?
Maybe we need a 'tragic sans'
20:06
@VLAZ thanks

@super-starball-ultra wow, you're super and ultra?
Is there a story behind that?

1 hour later…
23:04
Kirby Super Star Ultra is an anthology platform video game developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS in 2008. The game is an enhanced remake of Kirby Super Star, originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1996, to commemorate the Kirby series' 15th anniversary. The remake retains all game modes found in the original, and adds four major new ones, along with adding updated visuals and full-motion video cutscenes. The game was released in North America on September 22, 2008, in Japan on November 6, 2008, and in Europe on September 18, 2009....
^one of my favourite games
runner up was "super-starball-64"
I've also considered naming myself "lonely-rolling-starball" on arqade
I've never played katamari damacy but I love that cover
@terdon There's no perfect font, but I wonder if some poor intern uses it normally and was told "Someone died, here's the template" and sent you a mail, than panicedly realised what they did, and spent the rest of the day crying
@VLAZ this is such a meta thing
