7:00 PM
so... if a user with not enough rep to dupe close flags for dupe closure, and the OP accepts the dupe closure resulting in a community dupe closure with no other closers, there's no way (for us lame users) to see who closed it, correct?
other than community/the op ofc

@user400654 Timeline?

nothing there

I think timeline still shows the voters.

Thanks @gnat. Definitely relevant. But my question is more specific so I will repost it on Meta Stack Overflow (unless someone can migrate it there for me) as F1Krazy suggests might be possible above. — Luke 1 hour ago

7:01 PM
@Tinkeringbell in that case that would be community and OP
not the person flagging the question
A mod could see the deleted auto-generated comment I guess?

@Luuklag You sure it's community and OP? I thought OPs were always just 'community'.

it just shows community

@Luuklag Yeah, that would be the only way to track then.
@user400654 Perhaps because flaggers have never showed up in that list, IIRC.
So yeah, the information is then mostly lost, unless you can get a moderator to take a look for you.

just idle curiosity in this case, not important

but then again, I could have cast the first vote myself

7:05 PM
Yeah gnat just posted a comment and you cast the first CV on your own question yourself.

Yeah I VTC'd there myself
this one is a better example

Huh, okay.
Don't know exactly how things work then.

Things are weird.

Maybe it shows up as just 'Community' on SO because the OP of the post doesn't have close vote privileges themselves either?

@user400654 In this case one person flagged the post, and OP accepted the suggestion and self closed it. So only community shows as close voter

7:07 PM
Both Luuklag and PeterJ seem to have had them at the time they closed their own posts.

Right
It wasn't a real close vote, just a flag, which sent it to the queue
that review never got done, it was invalidated when the op accepted the closure

yup

and the flagger doesn't show up there either, ftr

@Luuklag @Tinkeringbell, could you help this user out?
@user400654 flaggers never show up, otherwise no-one would flag anymore

what could be done to help them in that case, they already have a question on SO Meta

7:10 PM
@Luuklag What do they need help with?

-2
Q: A question I answered was classified as a duplicate. But my answer was classified as useful. Should I repost my answer somewhere?

LukeI was hoping the SO community/moderators could revisit the moderation of this question: How can i control multiple logins(like admin login and normal login) with flask login_required decorator [duplicate] and this question: Role based authorization in flask-login The former question was closed be...

(how i found it)

@user400654 ah good catch
@Tinkeringbell Deletion then I guess xD

7:24 PM
Hey, fun things. SO employs a dutchie developper, working from home

Oooh, hope they drop by chat for their share of stroopwafel :)

Wouter de Kort, Netherlands
101 3

Nice!

Philippe changed the title...
Changes look okay, based on the screenshots in the post.

7:46 PM
@Luuklag it's really distressing for me that I can't tell European names from food or cheese names
Why should they name things after people
Just call it funny round cheese that is sickly yellow
Frctisy
Better than what they call it in Poland

i mean
isn't that just a case of unfamiliarity

@M.A.R. what would that be called then according to you?

That doesn't stop me from ranting

@M.A.R. thats what the internet is for after all

The problem is all the von's and de's
If it was just one first name, maybe a funny awkward middle name, and a last name, all would be good.
Cheese don't have first name last names
Cheese and rice!

7:49 PM
@M.A.R. well it's just part of a last name

@Luuklag de de?
The the

He is called Wouter "the short"

De the
See it broke my code
Kort = kurz?
See, that brings us to the next problem
Why is Dutch so English-y?
I mean German has no problem being German

@M.A.R. that's german yeah
@M.A.R. because Napoleon I guess

@M.A.R. How is it 'English-y' XD

7:52 PM
Oh that Kort derails into French swearing
@Tinkeringbell it's always like German that's almost English but not quite there

Now, the pronunciation is from another world, it might as well be Russian there

Russian is harder to pronounce :P

@Luuklag THE ENEMY

Fun fact is, that I'm originally from the east of the netherlands, and we speak a dialect similar to the german's on the other side of the border
So no need to learn each others "languages", dialects work just fine

7:54 PM
I wouldn't have minded Quora if every visit there didn't make me feel like Big brother is spying on my internet activity to ask for a subscription or whatever

@Luuklag Grunt and point :P
But yeah, those dialects are so similar...

the only thing i used prior to SO was the jQuery forum

yeah It's called Neder-Saksisch, which would roughly translate into "Lower-Saxon"

> Dutch has things in common with both French, German, English and Latin but also with Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Icelandic.
OMG it's worse than I thought

@M.A.R. thats where our trade mentality comes in ;)

7:56 PM
@Luuklag "trade" :P

You guys should have made up your mind and borrowed half your vocabulary from one language like we did from the Arabs

@M.A.R. meh thats boring

But at least it's not cheese

Or pull an america and just steal somebody else’s language
But then make change kilometers into miles for no real reason

@EkadhSingh well technically 3 hours of history lectures later
Americans were real-estate brokers. And very uh, persuasive at that

8:00 PM
@M.A.R. I’m confused

@M.A.R. still are, I do recal one orange leader trying to buy Greenland ;)

@EkadhSingh Miles was around even when Peter wasn't killed. The whole superhero stopping villains thing is propaganda
Change my mind
@Luuklag well this time four centuries ago he was nuking a hurricane

@M.A.R. now I am just more confused.

So is it right that if you grow up in Luxembourg you learn half a dozen languages?
What's the mother tongue there? Bank?

Luxembourg ( (listen) LUK-səm-burg; Luxembourgish: Lëtzebuerg [ˈlətsəbuəɕ] (listen); French: Luxembourg; German: Luxemburg), officially the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, is a landlocked country in Western Europe. It is bordered by Belgium to the west and north, Germany to the east, and France to the south. Its capital, Luxembourg City, is one of the four official capitals of the European Union (together with Brussels, Frankfurt, and Strasbourg) and the seat of the Court of Justice of the European Union, the highest judicial authority in the EU. Its culture, people, and languages are highly intertwined...

8:04 PM
@EkadhSingh So, it has come to this
Wow what a boring flag
Just three stripes.
Like ours

@M.A.R. they stole ours

And you stole it from the French or something? I forgot
Or did Russia steal from all of you?

Official languages

Luxembourgish
French
German[a]

You don't mess with Putin

@M.A.R. he wrestles bears

8:05 PM
@Luuklag well three is a good headstart
But seriously, at least add a lion or a mule or something there. Right now it's indistinguishable from toothpaste
Be original, add a chihuahua

Well that's what you get for having things in common with both French, German, English and Latin but also with Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Icelandic.

Is that also why our colonies were "stolen" from us xD
inapropriate day for that joke btw

@M.A.R. To be fair, everybody copied from Latin :)

@Luuklag what's today?

8:10 PM
Remembrance of the Dead (Dutch: Dodenherdenking) is held annually on May 4 in the Netherlands. It commemorates all civilians and members of the armed forces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands who have died in wars or peacekeeping missions since the beginning of the Second World War. == Definition == Since 2011 the official text of the Memorandum for Remembrance Day on 4 May is as follows: During the national commemoration of Remembrance Day we remember all Dutch victims – civilians and soldiers – who have been killed or murdered in the Kingdom of the Netherlands or anywhere else in the world in...

Oh

@M.A.R. on a less serious note than Luuklag, Star Wars day is today :)

@EkadhSingh not me, I'm clean as a soap
Which is probably an oxymoron because have you seen traditionally made soaps? Totally not clean

@M.A.R. you speak English, and English stole form Latin, so guilty by association :)
@M.A.R. no I have not seen traditionally made soap, that sounds interesting, time to go look that up (and try not to go down a 2 hour long rabbit hole)

@EkadhSingh I have a private confession to make. I have rolled my eyes at this pun ever since I found about the existence of Star Wars day and it's not boded well for my eye health
@EkadhSingh well it's literally animal fat with one extra step

8:14 PM
saponation for the win :)

@M.A.R. well tomorrow is revenge of the 5th :) your eye health is never going to recover now :)

@EkadhSingh well they killed Cesar so it's okay

@EkadhSingh May the Fourth is much better off being Star Wars Day than remembrance day :)

I'm so sleepy I insert random "sleeps" in my sleeps

@Tinkeringbell what’s your favorite trilogy?
I personally like the OT because the actors were really good IMO

Starwars, isn't that guys in tight playing soldier in space?
with a very strange sense of counting

@EkadhSingh Lord of the Rings :P

The cornetto trilogy
The dark knight trilogy

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog have a star, once again

8:27 PM
The dollars trilogy
Which isn't really a trilogy but people pretend it is

@Tinkeringbell “it’s treason then.” - Frank (for those who don’t know, palatine is often called Frank by people who like the prequels, because he said “I’ll be Frank, your majesty” in a very popular quote. It’s dumb, I know.)

Wow, just found out my Alma Mater has developed a way to use bees to detect Covid19

What the actual heck. Next thing you know bees are going to replace dogs in law enforcement :)
But yeah, now I can finally get a COVID test if this works :)

haha, these nasal swabs are pretty OK, had plenty of them

coronavirus attack bees
just run them all in-doors

8:36 PM
@user400654 kill every sufferer with bee stings xD

speaking off... my sense of smell is still off
no fever tho, so maybe allergies?
:shrug:

@user400654 mine too, thats why I got myself tested again. For the bazillionth time
I've also been having on and off cold symptoms since december
but haven't tested positive yet

i tested positive in january
I lost sense of smell back then too, after the fever subsided

@Luuklag I haven’t had one yet though (unless I had one in my sleep), probably because I am low risk cause I’m still 13. If this actually works though, it will hopefully ramp up testing enough that I can get one :D

took about a month to return to normal
thing is, during that time smells were replaced with an ammonia-like scent
now.. i'm smelling some kind of rubbery/plastic scent

8:40 PM
@user400654 that's awful

it's completely different from the first round

I have some sort of selective smell. Every now and then I smell something, but most of the time I smell nothing

it only really affects a few things
coffee for example is the most noticable
i don't get that good coffee scent, it's replaced with rubbery/plastic crap

@user400654 wdym, coffee has all ways smelled bad :D

flowery scents are unaffected

Rob
8:46 PM
Even plastic flowers.

i mean
if they give off a flowery scent, i'll smell it

What if you get flower scented coffe?
you’ll smell your coffee :P

hmm

9:47 PM
How can I tell which user was removed when I got a -10 rep due to "user was removed"?

You can't

Can I find out which question or answer was voted on that I lost rep from?

Maybe from /reputation but IIRC the votes are really cleared from the table so you won't see records there anymore either.

@forestdistrustsStackExchange See my question here meta.stackexchange.com/questions/361476/…

9:51 PM
So what kind of thing would have caused that? I only lost 10 rep so it's not like someone was serial-upvoting me.

One user voted one time. Your posts were not very popular with that user

@forestdistrustsStackExchange It's when a user is deleted by themselves or by mod

I know that. It's just frustrating not knowing if it was a mistake or not.

@forestdistrustsStackExchange Would do you mean by "mistake"?

@Nai54 For example, if someone was removed for a reason other than vote fraud.

10:01 PM
someone clicked: delete my account. That is not a mistake, right?

I'm referring to the vote reversal, not the act of their account being disabled.
If I deleted my account, all my votes would stay in place.

10:22 PM
@forestdistrustsStackExchange Not for everyone. Only users who have cast hundreds of votes (like you), users who have voted only a few time's votes aren't saved.

ah
So the underlying assumption is that a new user who deletes their account didn't really intend to make the votes they made, but a high-rep user who knows the system did?

10:35 PM
@forestdistrustsStackExchange Kind of, but more like a user joined the site, browsed and voted for a little bit, asked a question, got an answer, satisfied - left and deleted their account.

11:17 PM
It might not keep the votes at all
its a bit messy
if you're a high activity user - IIRC someone will review and dissociate the votes from you

11:28 PM
It's such a strange and unintuitive system.

lol
Its probably designed for a smaller network, and one where deletions are rare
