The Wikipedia article Ramachandran plot is very schematic and doesn't even say when these angles are considered to be zero. It seems to assume that the peptide chain has no end, and always shows the next carbon atom. What happens when the amino acid is in the terminal position? It also asserts th...
(reading scroll log) You know, I see a lot more people in this particular chat get kicked out than elsewhere. I wonder if this place just attracts more drama, or if the mods are more predisposed to drama. Every other time I come in here, someone is arguing with mods lol
What I was getting at is that it seems like the issue is in communication from moderators, not the other way around. I.e. an issue with the wording you use, or something of the sort.
@forestdistrustsStackExchange We mostly hang out here so if we're somewhere else, there's something that triggered it. I'm going to drop it there, and we'll communicate directly with the users involved
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog that's very nice, but also sad in a way that you had to make it yourself... does it mean you don't celebrate with family/friends today? Anyway, happy birthday!
@JourneymanGeek if he sat on the cake pants need washing first.
Yes, just thought that was funny. There's also a video where it's the other way around from what you mean, where cake is purchased and then dropped down pants.
Getting ping'd in some chatrooms (servers?) makes a nice little ding!, in some others you get a loud bonk! Inconsistency is evil, this needs to be fixed.
Or rather, instead of forcing a uniform bink! on all chat users across the network, how about making the ping notification sound a configurabl...
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard I can simply choose channel 1, then order anything - stuff I couldn't tell you the title, and costs a fortune - and I presume it comes on and I get a bill at the end of the month.
@Rob well the TV bundle I have at home is connected to personal account, to order adult stuff I'll have to contact support and ask to remove the block, one can't just pay on my behalf. So assume shops also block such stuff. :)
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Here the remotes have a huge button which is all too easily pressed, then there's a lengthy loading process, next you have to figure out how to exit the menu; all the while ADs are flashing all the most popular movies. --- Since you have children you'd definitely want to lock out unrestricted TV usage. --- Is your phone locked, or can they call 900- numbers, for $50/minute.
@JourneymanGeek translated it just for fun, and oddly enough it's just a funny story, not offensive at all. So weird.
> I'm not going to fart on the third floor
lol
@Rob sure, it's locked for long years. Ordinary NSFC channels need password (those that don't require extra pay) and the VOD library just have it blocked.
@RocketNikita no, it used to be posted "raw" for many years, never flagged. It's moved to the Chimney at some point, so the bad stuff don't stick around anyway.
Here we have several hundred channels, between channel 300-400 the names of the show are not anything I could repeat here; but the titles seem self explanatory. --- Even if I don't have them activated I can see in the TV Guide what the show is called, and know what they are doing.
@Rob ohhh.... you meant switching to those channels just to show the titles, not watch the actual content. Well yes, that would probably "work" and make the troll happy. lol
Well, there's channel 1 where you order PPV, and they tell you which channel to change to and see it start in a minute or two. Then there's the subscription channels (300-400) where you must order them and have them turned on, then you can switch to them as a regular channel. --- On or Off, you can still read the title and a short description of the contents; which probably describes the show in it's entirety.
@JourneymanGeek Did I mention that time when I slept over at a co-workers place, and there wasn't any toilet paper? He was definitely the one that should've been buying it.
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Ah, no sorry. Now I'm mixing up two things. Coworker had nothing stashed either. Brother yelled at me ;)
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard I mean, this is mostly our situation too: There's a stash in the pantry, all you have to do is get some rolls from there and stash them in the toilet instead XD
@rene I succeeded, both of my kids who use toilets replace the roll when they finish it. Though if they would have to go fetch it from other room like @Tink's case, it might be different...
@JourneymanGeek We have 'roll holders' that take 2-3 rolls. If you put the last one from that stash onto the 'dispenser', you're expected to refill the roll holder. At least, if you're female.
My family members can't be bothered to actually put the roll into the dispenser. If it runs out, they do put a new roll, but don't actually mount it, just put the roll on top of the empty cardboard tube
My mom's convinced dad wants another dog and is going to turn up with one some day. I'll probably need to look at doggo number 2 if everything works out ;)
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog and that's why they don't bother.... try to not do it for a while and see what happens. ;)
@JourneymanGeek good, glad to hear!
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I prefer to not take medicine for non-vital things, i.e. if something doesn't stop me from functioning properly I won't take meds for it. So I do take for headaches when they become too intense, for example, but not for runny nose.
Plus, didn't know there is medicine for it. hmm....
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard it doesn't translate well. The button should probably say "I Want This" which in Dutch could tranlate as "Ik wil het/hem". Our King is named "Willem" so Ik willem sounds about right. It is the worst joke ever. Tomorrow is the Kings birthday, celebrated with orange tompouche.
@Glorfindel Thanks! Can you please confirm whether or not you were notified of the second title edit I just made? If not, I'll edit in more details, and if so, I'll self-revert.
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Keeping on keeping on. I lurk at least once a day here... but am swamped with other 'stuff' to do.
Cake would be lovely... just don't tell my cardiologist. Am signed up for a drug trial which is intended to help me lose weigh. Or to help 50% of the participants to lose weight: double blind. I do hope I won't be injecting myself weekly for absolutely no gain :)
However, should I be sent to jail for murdering somebody on another forum, I will of course take delivery of cakes with a file inside
As light relief, I'm stomping on profile spam on the site I moderate. Gambling, sex services, random 'SEO' for small businesses. Every day I destroy more peoples dreams of Internat fame.
And coffee always. No such thing as to much caffeine.
BTW, if I'm vaccinated does it mean I can drink from somebody else cup, or let others drink from my cup, without fear of the COVID? Even my kids stopped sharing drinks during the COVID, lol.
(well, my wife was very strict from the very beginning)
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard They told me that even after I was vaccinated I still had to follow the guidelines on prevention (washing hands, distance...). I wouldn't :P
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard "Late"... I'm massively cutting in line, I'm getting mine because of my morbid obesity. If I had waited to get an appointment until my age was allowed, I wouldn't have had one before the end of July, I think.
Here it was matter of clicking a button to order what is usually a doctor's appointment, just that instead of doctor appointment, it was getting a vaccine.
@Tinkeringbell Oof!-- not good. I had already been classified as 'extremely clinically vulnerable' by: my GP; the local hospital; and the nearest heart transplant centre; so getting on the schedule for a vaccination was not an issue. Had the AZ vaccine - haven't died yet. :) and am unlikely too, now. The risks with Pfizer and similar vaccines are higher because I've had anaphylaxis before, so I was very pleased to get the AZ vaccine.
@ColeValleyGirl That's good to hear! We literally spent two weeks here worrying our heads off, as my mother had the AZ one and was feeling ill for that long.... :/
(including things like a sore/very heavy feeling in her legs, which can also be a sign of thrombosis..)
@Tinkeringbell I long for a disinterested assessment of the risks of various vaccines re the risks of not having them. Nobody is doing that as far as I can see because of politicz!!!
I think it's very hard to make such risk assessments too. Because having any vaccine is better than having no vaccine *once* you get infected with the virus.
But the chances of getting covid-19 are very hard to calculate on an individual level.
So if I were to get an infection, it would be from one of them. Which isn't unlikely, since my dad works outside, my mom works with covid patients from time to time and my brother is a plain covidiot, still regularly meeting his 20 friends or throwing parties....
@ColeValleyGirl Yeah, those two multiply... it's like throwing two dice, and the chance of both of them showing a six...
@MadScientist See, that's the kind of data that leaves people totally bemused. What's the risk of having the relevant rare blood clotting problem after having the AZ vaccine versus having it without going anywhere near a vaccine?
@MadScientist Whereas in the UK, we're being told the observed cases are similar to the background... Numbers, statistics and damned statistics. Also that getting the AZ vaccine is better than getting no vaccine (and the alternatives are increasingly reserved for the young(ish).
@ColeValleyGirl The UK has a very similar graphic to the one I linked, there is not really a big disagreement on the numbers, only a bit on where to draw the line by age for recommending the vaccine.
@Tinkeringbell I kinda hope that in a few thousand years from now, someone will find some corrupted texts from this age, and wonder what this "covidiot" creature some mentions was.
This quarter’s post from our CEO focuses on two strategic priorities: Product-led Transformation and Predictable and Reliable Financial Performance, both of which add value to our community and our customers by allowing us to continue to support and resource them better.
> A lot of SaaS-focused technology companies talk about being product-led. What does that mean? It means putting your product and user at the center of all you do, and leveraging your product to attract, activate, and retain your customers.
tbh, I think someone gets most of us won't know what that means and explained it
"We kinda don't want to worry about where we're going to get money next year"
> . We have also seen growth in our annual recurring revenue (ARR) and increases in our net renewal rates (NRR), two key metrics for measuring the health of a product-led SaaS company like Stack Overflow.
"They keep paying us, which is good."
The bit about careers is a bit too long for a hot take - but it looks a lot like them quitting the 'recruitment' business
