@Rob The hacker didn't have general staff access, only moderator access, which is what gave them away. (Had they had staff access, it's likely they would have slipped under the radar, as we'd have thought they were just a new employee.)
@Luuklag A 3rd party blog on the hack says that they gained CM privilege to obtain a backup/restore of a deleted developer's account, obtaining developer access; ultimately this allowed them to gain admin access (owner of the computer).
