A bit late, but:
Masayuki Uemura (上村雅之, Uemura Masayuki, 20 June 1943 – 6 December 2021) was a Japanese engineer, video game producer, and professor. He was known for his work as an employee of Nintendo from 1971 to 2004, most notably for serving as a key factor in the development of the Nintendo Entertainment System. A former employee of Sharp Corporation, Uemura joined Nintendo in 1971 working with Gunpei Yokoi and Genyo Takeda on solar cell technology for the Laser Clay Shooting System arcade game. After becoming General Manager of Nintendo R&D2, Uemura served as the lead architect for the Nintendo Entertainment...
Robert Michael Nesmith (December 30, 1942 – December 10, 2021) was an American musician, songwriter, actor, producer, and novelist. He was best known as a member of the pop rock band the Monkees and co-star of the TV series The Monkees (1966–1968). Nesmith's songwriting credits include "Different Drum", which became a hit for Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Poneys. @JourneymanGeek Chat is even more borked on mobile than it used to as well.

I didn't notice

I can't chat from my phone anymore. All messages I send are send into the void.

Oh that's odd
Hm
No repro
Running chrome 96 on android 12 (and that update is probably what killed the android app finally)

it works for me... although keyboard + autcorrect is a pain in mobile

FF 93.2.0 on Android 10.

2:33 PM
wierd
I think I have an android 10 device here somewhere...

Still waiting till 11 is released for my phone. Bought it with 9 and Android 1, so I should get updates to 11 eventually AFAIK.
Was good up to what, 2 weeks ago or so?

Android version shouldn't really affect anything (well, except SSL root certificates, but that's a different beast). It's usually the browser.

I also don't think anything's changed in chat in years
and its far down the priorities

@Mast but just in case, have you tried switching between "mobile"/"full site" directly from the footer/hamburger menu?

@MetaAndrewT. full site on phones is hard to use....

2:42 PM
but if it's working, then there's something wrong with the "mobile" version...
inb4 JavaScript migration

Rob
I always use full site on my phone, with a high quality glass magnifying glass - it's the mobile view that's hard to use, missing features, and weird layout.

1 hour later…
3:52 PM
@Mast try full version, not mobile.

4:34 PM
did chat die for a while, or it was only me...?
welp, since I didn't see any confusion on other chat rooms, I guess it was only me...

Rob
Between 2 and 17 hours ago it was strangely silent.

@Catija and that is exactly why you don't try to make a live action of an anime about an "alien" yellow octopus teacher.
^ good.
^ no thanks.
should be pretty easy to understand. The more unique the art style, the more impossible the characters... the less you should try to make it live action.
That's kinda why IMHO the recently announced Netflix (yay! them again!) ONE PIECE live action ... will be a disaster.
@Catija that said, it is not like live action anime adaptations have a better history record even when the original anime is "realistic" enough to fit a live action version. Not even when the thing is Japan - made.

I think the live action Pokémon was well-done?

6:53 PM
@Catija Detective Picachu? Well.... depends. If you consider it as an attempt at replicating the world of the game, nope, it fails. The settings are more close to the odd-game that was Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. If you take the COMICS in account, it kinda fits albeit some weird deux-et-machina like spoiler
that said, as far as the art style goes....
some pokemons are fine.
Some are as uncanny as it can be.
For example, Ash's MR Mime in the anime is well know for his "serious face"
kinda of a recurring joke everytime he fight seriously (Saitama style...)
the same face in the movie...
Mind you... it is not the fact that they did something "wrong". It is just uncanny valley effect.
funniest part of the movies is probably the credits in a sarcastic way.
instead of pictures from the movie, they are in the anime style.
And suddenly you find yourself asking WHY wasn't all the movie animated.
That said, do yourself a favor and stay away from that horrible thing that is the Netflix version of Death Note.

7:59 PM
@MetaAndrewT. @Shadow Full used to work, barely, but now I get keyboard problems when switching to that.
@JourneymanGeek It's definitely low on the priorities list, so I'll work around it. Like we always do when things break on SE.

1 hour later…
9:22 PM
@Mast its also less likely something 'new's' broken fundamentally
