are you saying we're round and waffle? :D

@Aibobot Maybe just trying to stir up drama :) I'm not sure what the stance is here on non-conformist waffles
Actually I was caught in a heated discussion about the proper shape of doughnuts and things went awry

Dear god
RELIGIOUS WARS?

4:29 AM
What's your take? Tradition for tradition's sake or more goodness per square inch?
Actually, do plastic dogs eat doughnuts at all?

hmm
probably not :D
And the indian doughnut-analog is probably alien to y'all

@Aibobot Do you keep the holes to make pakoras?

Vada [vəɽɑː] (vaḍā) is a category of savoury fried snacks from India. Different types of vadas can be described variously as fritters, cutlets, doughnuts, or dumplings. Alternative names for this food include wada, vade, vadai, wadeh and bara.The various types of vadas are made from different ingredients, ranging from legumes (such as medu vada of South India) to potatoes (such as batata vada of West India). They are often served as a breakfast item or a snack, and also used in other food preparations (such as dahi vada and vada pav). == History == According to K. T. Achaya, Vadai (Vada) ...
actually, my mom just flips the batter in one hand, makes the hole with a thumb and drops it in. She learnt it from a chef at a restaurant we used to eat at :D

Now I'm hungry!

5:14 AM
Speaking of hungry 😁
Lunch!

Anyone who's a frequent donut eater should invest in a donut maker, they're fairly inexpensive and make perfect donuts that taste like real donuts because they make them the same way as a donut making machine that professionals use:

5:52 AM
those are entertaining.
heh. I once was watching one of those long production line donut swimming pool things in a shopping center foyer :D

Rob
That's where I first saw that, as a child (1/2 century ago), then a few years later the department store had a plastic gizmo (like in the picture above); I convinced my mom to buy it - we sure are a lot of donuts for years after that, until the novelty wore off.
Now I see this video, this is a way faster way to make something from donut pastry that is even more profitable - though I either don't have the skillz or can't see the trick of how they get them to twist themselves so easily.
^^ are = ate

6:08 AM
@Rob might be a different dough + a crapload of practice

Rob
6:20 AM
@Aibobot Yes, there's something special about that dough. Notice how it almost doesn't stick to the bowl, when they dump it the dough almost pulls the bowl clean - it's not very sticky.

@Aibobot are you South Indian?

Rob
Yet when they chuck it one end grabs the table causing it to twist perfectly and evenly.

@BabaYaga yes
from the deep south
@Rob hmm
I wonder if its a version/variation on chinese fried dough
It is clearly a yeasty dough

1 hour later…
7:30 AM
@Aibobot not shallow north? ;)
@Ollie Third.
@Rob or beer

@ShadowWizardWearingMask oh, there's a very complicated running joke about that.

waiting for joke

@ShadowWizardWearingMask So... basically everywhere has a north and a south. And there's always a bit of cross cardinal snobbery...
North indians and south indians are similar but quite distinct
and deep south tends to being to mind the US-ian south

@Aibobot don't understand it at all, lol... but yeah even in tiny Israel we have "sub races" of people, and people living in the south sometimes considered more "primitive" and such things.
Talking about tiny places, where's @M.A.R.? Long time no see... or sea... :D
@curious still hungry?

@ShadowWizardWearingMask this is wierdly universal

@Aibobot sadly enough, yeah.
Now go make me coffee, bot! :D
!!/coffee

@ShadowWizardWearingMask brews a cup of Cappuccino for @ShadowWizardWearingMask

sipping slowly
handing empty cup to @Mith
(slowly for me means more than 3 seconds ;))
@JNat oh hey! Looks like you're out of spammers to nuke this time? :P

@ShadowWizardWearingMask which is the whole joke :D

8:38 AM
no, I have 8 outstanding tabs open :P

no matter how people are different, people are strangely the same

@JNat oh... well go go go then! :D
@Aibobot same only when looked at by other species.

Well possibly

@ShadowWizardWearingMask ...an empty cup? Really? ;_;

The other thing is some varient of uppuma or couscous is universal
Upma, uppumavu or uppittu is a dish originating from the Indian subcontinent, most common in South Indian, Maharashtrian, Odia and Sri Lankan Tamil breakfast, cooked as a thick porridge from dry-roasted semolina or coarse rice flour. Various seasonings and/or vegetables are often added during the cooking, depending on individual preferences. Today it is popular in most parts of India and is prepared in various ways. == Etymology == The different names for the dish derive from the combinations of the word uppu, meaning salt in many Dravidian languages, and various words for flour: like pindi or...

8:42 AM
@Mithical indeed. waiting for a full cup to be given back
:D

/me hands @ShadowWizardWearingMask a cup of watered down mud

@Aibobot looking universally tasty.

you never said of what

!drink

Here's your lemonade!

8:44 AM
@ShadowWizardWearingMask most cultures have some varient of it

@Aibobot of course, wanted @Mith to decide what they want to give me. ;)

I mean, water + broken/coursely milled grains...
bit of salt some flavourings... its pretty hard to go wrong

@ShadowWizardWearingMask run a !drink and see what you get

@Aibobot thanks! With bit of salt and sugar, it can be tasty. :D
!drink

I'm going to need some identification first.

8:45 AM
@Mithical it's borked ^^

IIRC more than 100 tabs

Rob
10:10 AM
Yes, more than a couple of hundred actually; last I checked a week or two ago.

12:20 PM
Hey guys, quick question. Is it intentional that in the 10k tools NATO page, spam posts are shown in their original way. And not with the spam message to check the revision history you see elsewhere?

12:53 PM
Welp, will be back to "work from home" again starting next week...

1:06 PM
@MetaAndrewT. Isn't that at least better than idiots that try to force workers to go to office at any costs?

Rob
1:18 PM
Take time off, and go to work.

mag
afternoon
I saw the post about 600 open cm tickets

Yeah, you're probably at least half of them. ;)

mag
probably less then 10

Since August '19?

mag
I'd have to lie if I didn't briefly contemplate going on a 700 a week flagging spree to mark the occasion
but that'd be counterproductive
@Mithical last time I seriously went serial voting flagging was july 2019

1:21 PM
600 open tickets? Triage review queue to the rescue!

mag
1:37 PM
I should bring back my spreadsheet and do a couple hundred serial voting flags, for old times sake'

the metasmoke review queue needs some attention if you feel like killing time...

mag
what fun is killing time if it doesn't cost cheaters thousands of reputation

@Νеvеrꭑoꭇе I guess if you had it would be Hur'q.

Rob
5:46 PM
It's Discord from MLP, which explains guys older than 10 having a lack of familiarity with the subject.

6:05 PM
@Rob it is indeed, which also explains why I said "that's Q". Guess who voiced Discord?
But it doesn't explain why the mods haven't shut down my account yet, since apparently I must be 10 years old at max, and the ToS requires you to be at least 13.

I recognized it, but that's due entirely to previous dealings with @Νеvеrꭑoꭇе. ;)
But more John de Lancie is always good.

1 hour later…
7:22 PM
@ShadowWizardWearingMask Third?

7:46 PM
How long does it take to award a badge?
I ask because I have 5/5 for the Curious badge, but it hasn't been awarded.

check after UTC midnight

@Mithical okay.

8:12 PM
Quote @Rob:
I'm going to take some time off, and go to [a different kind] of work.

Q: Where can I ask this question about detect programming language?

ArianQuestion: How to detect EXE and DLL files programming language? Description: I want to make a good application/game in future. I need to know which programming language used in applications/games. I want to detect all programming languages and find which programming language is good for my app...

Close? For which reason?
Answer? What should I answer without touching the tech background asked there?
Recommend to ask at SO? Not really.
I'd even suspect the OP already tried this.

Recommend to ask anywhere is a hell no

@πάνταῥεῖ The person posting knew what to do with it, and "I understand very little day is nevermore":

Yeah, I've seen that.

Rob
Very difficult to 100% guess the programming language from an executable in every case.

This underscores the importance of asking a question as soon as you encounter a problem. If you treat stackexchange as a last resort, then you will have nothing to add as updates. If, on the other hand, you post a question with zero research, then you will have plenty of opportunity to bump bump bump with status updates and get users invested in answering the questions while they still believe it to be an easy question, not a hard one. — user-63873687 Jun 26 at 6:10

Q: How to know in which language/technology program (.exe) is written?

Pranit KothariHow to understand if exe/dll is written in C++/.Net/Java or in any other language. I tried to use Dependency walker but not able to get required information.

Interesting

Rob
Still not 100%, but better results than I guessed.
I do mixed language programming, I can imagine those suggested methods would have some false results.

I still think it would work reliably for any compiler. Also OPs question boils down to a XY problem: I want to learn which programming languages are used for game development ...

Rob
It's a little XY, they want to use that method to conduct their own survey; rather than rely on existing statistics:
> I need to know which programming language used in applications/games. I want to detect all programming languages and find which programming language is good for my application/game.
Wikipedia isn't a lot of help: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/… but picking a random website finds a fair explanation for their rationale: game-ace.com/blog/best-language-for-game-development - still neither that nor the fact of the matter mean absolutely that the answer is best for their situation (which they left out of their question).
Three or four decades ago assembly language was really the only way to go, for the final result; "Development" was easy enough to do in BASIC (there wasn't "C" back then) and then simply convert in your head.
