Q: Creative Commons Licensing UI and Data Updates

Yaakov EllisWhen we last updated you to clarify concerns and answer questions about our transition to version 4.0 of the CC BY-SA license we committed to posting updates to the UI and addressing unanswered questions. I am happy to announce that we have met these goals. Shortly, UI and Data changes will be ma...

@rene Can you please update the database schema documentation with the changes listed in the above post under point 5?

@SonictheStay-HomeHedgehog I will on sunday.

Whoa... Long time since I saw such a wave of off topic questions on MSE. About five in 10 minutes.
Guess the new featured question by Yaakov draws tons of people from SO.

I got 4
Might have missed one

12:21 PM
There's a new featured question?
Yawns deeply

Yep, Yaakov's one about the licensing replaced the one about the moderator council.

I should maybe get some more sleep

Never doubt that, just get more ;)

With the current licensing policy, it's possible that someone may use a bot to perform minor edits to all posts on a site, to re-license them all as 4.0. Hope that doesn't happen.

That seems rather pointless and someone doing that would probably get suspended.

Yeah, and also the rep requirement and heavy rate limits on suggested edits mean that it would be hard for a new user or an alt account to do.

@Mithical don't know the person, but if you say it's a loss, guess it's indeed a loss. Do we know who comes instead?
@user400654 long time no toilets!

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance They were a Site Reliability Engineer. I'm not aware of any replacement.

@rene too Basic
@Mithical never really figured that role actually is... but hope there is someone new. By the way, why "they" and not "he"? checking profile(s)

8:24 PM
@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance async Task.Delay(0);

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance *shrug* I generally default to "they"

@Mithical oh. Well, nothing about it in any profile of that person so yeah, it's all good. :)

That sort of abuse sounds like something that'd trigger an account ban, and a mod/dev to delete every CC bumping edit the idiot made

@rene too modern!
@DanIsFiddlingByFirelight context?
looking up

oh... well, there were quite a few messages since, so hard to follow. :/

my screen's 1600 pixels tall, it was only 1/3rd of the way up

hehe
cowering in a corner with a small screen

that's a bit dated, I've since swapped out the middle one for a 32" 4k. side screens are 20" 1200x1600

Anyway, there's no point to roll back minor edits, unless of course they're also wrong. If they're correct, just minor, the roll back itself is yet another useless edit in the revisions. The "damage" is already done. @Dan

at a minimum the devs can delete all traces of the edit, reverting the published content to CC-3/2.5

@DanIsFiddlingByFirelight nice, also so many speakers... you can host people and charge money for watching movies instead going to the cinema.... :D

people who want to do that would rather get a 50 or 80" tv

True as well.
I don't watch movies on my computer, copy them to USB and watch on TV. (It's not smart, no internet in there, just USB for such things.)

at that I've got 2 more speakers outside that image on the far edges of the desk (and a sub on the floor). Not sure how much use I'm getting out of the 5.1 setup; but it's worked for normal use for the last 12 or 14 years so I can't complain too much

And since it's also pretty rare, don't bother to buy ChromeCast.
