@Danack where?

morning

5:31 AM

:D

(Had to move Ash's bed to clean my room. Apparently he was not amused that I built him a pillow fort in my parent's room :D )

@JourneymanGeek are you back at work yet or still in self isolation?

@Magisch I'm on leave of absense till the start of next month
So I can leave for essential things but that's about it

I'm doing shifts now to avoid social contact with other employees
yay for super early start time >_>

5:51 AM
@Magisch heh, Dog is going for long walks at least twice a day, he's confused by the change in routine, and I am half certain no one is really sure what's happening

@JourneymanGeek im not allowed to pet the office dog anymore

that is cruel and unusual torture, especially since the dog likes me a lot and must think I dont like him anymore :(

It is
hm
The company that pays my salary wants me to send daily health updates

my coworker has corona
he went on a ski trip to austria on the 12th despite warnings and caught it there

5:58 AM
Sending them the lyrics for this seems amusing...
@Magisch I left before all this BS started
LOA aside - if I has come back as originally planned, I'd be on a stay at home order.
Or stuck in a countrywide lockdown in india :D

the lockdown in india is just crazy to me
1.3 billion people stuck at home

lol
I was literally on the last flight home

meanwhile trump is targeting easter for full lifting of restrictions

and apparently a good chunk of the IT/outsourcing industry isn't designed to WFM so... its quite a problem there
@Magisch Hopefully cooler heads prevail

I heard a lot of people in india do not have home internet connections

6:03 AM
and he can pretend it was his idea

just cellphone and workwise

@Magisch yup
or computers

That complicates working from home significantly

I can't do a good chunk of my job remotely
since its on the ground apps support or monitoring stuff behind an airgap

My court case about a &^%$# parking fine against the municipality got settled. The municipality admitted they were in the wrong. Amazing that I have to go through all that hassle for 63 euros ....

I think that is the idea

the tax department is conducting an audit here
now
we're well prepared and there are no discrepancies but really
now is the time they do this

batch of two: Augmented Reality, and greesmonkey. @rene @Glor @Sonic @Art
Thanks!
@rene and get to court and get Corona? That's worse than spending few bucks euros.
I'd imagine courts will be closed in those days except for urgent cases...

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou yeah, this was still in the prep phase.
@Magisch are they keeping their distance?

@rene we're supposed to get an in person visit next week
so guess not

8:15 AM
@Magisch I would politely point out to them that they are in violation of federal instructions.

My last day in my work place.... think I'll still work a bit from home even without being paid, in hope the company won't be shut down for good. Well, at least I used the printer in office to print bunch of stuff for my kids. :)
@rene here too, anyone caught outside without a valid reason will get a fine and might face federal trial.
Emergency rule was applied yesterday at 5 PM, and valid for a week.

our economy is headed straight into the toilet here
no clue what will happen if this lasts another 2 months, but it will be super ugly

Same here, it's already in the toilet and flushed.
20% unemployment rate, and rising.
Places closed every day, sending tens of thousands new people to the unemployment circle.
(it was 7% rate before the crisis)

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou The US handed out the equivalent of U$6052 per person, or 2 trillion / 330,488,824. It's not like you should expect to see so little money in your pocket, it's that refilling the Tax Coffers will cost that per person (with some paying more, others less). You can only do that so many times.

@Rob And normal americans are seeing 1200$ of that, and only some of them. The rest will go to (overwhelmingly big) business
and so another recession is used to shift the burden from rich to poor, to have everyone bail out those who already have more.
as is tradition

Rob
True, however you slice it you still have an s-sandwich.

oh yeah, this is a fractral s-sandwich
s**** all the way through no matter how you look at it

Rob
In 5-10 years there will be something worse that must be paid for; and so the cycle repeats.

one thing is for certain, people who can afford to stay put and buy at the right time will make an absolutely incomprehensible amount of money and will collect all the wealth ordinary people are now losing

Actually the super rich lost more than we will ever see, losing billions the past few weeks - another thing that puts no money in our pocket.

9:03 AM
Billions of dollars just disappeared since they were never real. IMO that might be a good thing. Never liked that bubble.
e.g. if Mr. Doe has $200B in stocks, what does it actually mean? It's not real money.

How come it wasn't auto caught??

The third URL's words: nutrition-hacks-blood-balance-formula-reviews-price-benefits should have scored something, the sites and name not so much. Occasionally things are missed, some spammers are smarter than others.

Maybe because it was posted in the same exact time as other spam post, which was caught.

Some people simply have the very safe default Flagging Conditions and other people set multiple extreme settings (with the risk of a rare false positive, which results in a Flag Invalidation). Approximately once every two or three months I have to agree that a flag was incorrect, other people likely never have to attend to their account (and haven't even been here for years, if they had to).

Well - its also... erf

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou Sitting at home is not a problem, sitting at home and not having income, well that is something completely different.

that there might be less people flagging

Capitalism is money first... and people are expendable goods...

@ResistanceIsFutile eh I wouldn't say sitting at home isn't a problem on its own
Its a smaller problem sure
but its a very different environment

@JourneymanGeek Maybe it is problem for some... not for me... I am used to it...

10:21 AM
Well - if you have WFM for ages sure
or a former shut in :D

I have always worked from home, but sitting part I trained by staying in bed for 8 months taking care of my pregnancy... multiply by 3... I could go to Mars without blinking...

@ResistanceIsFutile indeed.

I have no problem staying at home if really necessary. I have problem to stay at home without work, without money, and without means to buy food. And that's where we're headed.

COVID-19 is reshaping how we live. Many of us are now home to help flatten the curve. We’re doing our best to work from home and juggling family care on top of it all. While self-isolation and social distancing are, according to many experts, the best way to address this pandemic, there are a few…

Hello, new user here, I'd like to check whether my question would be on-topic on parenting.stackexchange.com before creating and asking it.
My wife remembers the lyrics of the first four verses of an a-b-c children's song, in Dutch. We'd like to find the song to know the other verses, but googling any sentence from those verses does not yield any satisfactory results.
Would it be on topic to post those four verses and ask for some kind of song identification? Would it be a problem that the song is in Dutch and not in English? (I could provide a translation of the verses, but I doubt that th
@rene Do you happen to remember the song in question?

@Sha - What's with California, and all the licking? - Remember The Doorbell Licker, it gets worse. Larz TikTok - Bowl Licker.

@Rob ?
Licking door bell isn't that bad, nobody should arrive to touch it anyway.
So it can have Corona.

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog pff, you really expect me to go back 45 years in time ;)

@rene according to GoT, plants can do that.

@M.A.R. ravens, not plants

@Rob Califonia tilts the entire country left, so all most of nuts in the country roll down hill until they get there.
Floridamen are a notable exception because they bump into the gulf coast and get stuck

hellooo, I checked the dupes here meta.stackexchange.com/q/198679/392799 best I could find, my quick question, a flag that is pending which is most probably due to an issue being investigated, and I want to add info to it, do I create a new flag (different post) w/ reference to the pending flag? or retract and resubmit the pending flag?
... which is better in terms of least noise to the moderators, and taking into account that the prolonged "pending" is again probably due to the mods looking into it

@ymb1 the flagging system isn't good with that

@JourneymanGeek I haven't seen it but I'm guessing the mod side of things is rudimentary, as in very basic, that's why I wanted to check which action would be least annoying
I guess neither is the leastest annoying :D

A: Firing mods and forced relicensing: is Stack Exchange still interested in cooperating with the community?

LemmyX Is Stack Exchange still interested in cooperating with the community? Nope. Or at least, not currently. Stack Exchange needs the community. It's literally how they make money. As one of the previous answers said, one reputation point earns them about $0.43. That may not seem like a lot, bu...

Take a stand now, before it's too late.

Well... they have admitted they were wrong... several times. And it seems the last time they actually meant it.

They used copy-and-paste answers though. That's not very heartfelt
