12:07 AM
Morning

This is site-specific, but is it a good migration candidate to MSO?
@MetaAndrewT. Happy Slumber

@SonictheAnonymousWizHog probably not
If it was, we have a SO mod in the MSE staff and well, if handling is needed, it can be handled with minimal fuss.

@ArtOfCode My cousins in Leeds were unaffected

Closing as site specific seems like a great idea...

@JourneymanGeek Yeah, and I cast a vote for site-specific, but I didn't want to risk a declined flag for migration.

12:14 AM
@SonictheAnonymousWizHog eh. PERSONALLY, I would have marked helpful and done nothing XD
On the other hand, asking (generally) is fine, and you did get mod attention for an issue that wasn't that clear (which is kinda the point of flagging)

Yeah, I didn't ping you or anyone else; I just asked the question generally.

This is how it should work XD
As I love to say.... "I wander around fixing things"

I wanted to get input from anyone, and if it was appropriate, flag

@SonictheAnonymousWizHog If you want to discuss why that shouldn't be migrated...
its not the question, its the answer and the general situation
So you have a user with 1. A deleted account....
so if we migrated it, interacting would be impossible

Just realized how loris is night Friday-early Saturday on the whole SE chat...

I think you need coffee
Or I do

8:40 AM
Do I?

Nah, it's Saturday. No one needs coffee on Saturdays :)

It's beer time :P

It's a bit early for that, but sure!

well, I was reminded not to be drunk in the afternoon...

8:56 AM
2.39 pm and perfect time to have it :D

I need to stay sober for at least a few more hours, at least until we did the grocery shopping :)

true\
Managed to catch up on ST discovery. ;p

@JourneymanGeek Nice! I'm frogging a crochet project, going to remake it.

frogging?

Yeah :P
rip-it, rip-it... ribbit, ribbit... frogging :P

Is Meta's chat separate from the other sites' chat? I'm trying to invite someone, but they only pop-up in the user search result if I access the chat page from another site, not from here on Meta.SE -- strange

@ymb1 all the chat sites are separate
You can't invite someone to a room on MSE from chat.SO or chat.SE.

@Olivia copy that thanks -- BTW, the ding for tagging someone here is much better and less annoying than the one on the Aviation site
Who/where do I ask for a ding-change for another site?

The sound here on meta is really nice
The sound on chat.SE is the worst though
@ymb1 Guessing an employee? Dunno
Or you could probably most on meta c:

yep, thinking about doing just that :D

1:14 PM
@ymb1 likely there's a dupe ;p
I distinctly recall having asked one myself
10
Q: Can we have a kinder, gentler *THUD*?

Journeyman GeekThe current notification sound for the Super User chat, while rather effective can often quite startling, especially when you're doing something else, or just not expecting it. Could we have some way of choosing a less.. THUDdy sound, or volume control for it, for systems with no per-program volu...

1:32 PM
@JourneymanGeek indeed
I tried to invite Peter here, or to a room here, but I can't, so let me ask you: twice edits were made to two of my questions, that would be considered minor / actively harm reading according to the help center. the edits come across as if readers take every word on its own w/o context
, first it was changing IP to IP address, even though the noun means IP address without saying address, it wasn't proper noun, and it flows easily -- now it's "high rep points" to "higher number of reputation points"
I don't want to engage in edit war or come across as rude
so what are your thoughts, active users of Meta

1:48 PM
I don't think it actively harms reading (abbreviations spelled full out are always easier to read), and whether or not it's minor... meh. I like the thing Peter did to ctr+f ;)
I think you can safely roll back though, I don't think I ever saw Peter start an edit war.

@ymb1 If you really feel its an issue, just roll back
Especially with Peter.
I do think in the latter case, his edit sounds better tho

the keyboard thing was nice (but unnecessary), I meant to keep it, but the looooong pedantic revision notice about IP put me off I guess --

@ymb1 I THINK his edit reasons are scripted
the actual edits seem to be partially automated

interesting

I think he's been doing these for years
and I for one would not have the patience to keep the same style of edit reason for close to a decade

1:56 PM
in the second one, the double space for a line break between the photo and caption was removed (I guess automatically), I prefer it to <br>, and either makes the post tidy

erf. That's a slightly messy edit
But yeah, in situations like these, its always better to just go over stuff again
most folks don't mind

it's fine, I could have, but I don't like it when the same post keeps getting bumped on the home page for the silliest of reasons -- it's one of the reasons I bought it up here -- better talk it out and see what's going on than keep editing the edits

Well that happens anyway, we just try to smooth off the edges so to speak

3 hours later…
5:36 PM
@ymb1 He uses a semi-automated tool to make his edits. I've rolled them back before with no harm.
There's only two issues I have: first, changing terms that happen to be common colloquialisms, e.g. "IP" to "IP address", "Stack" to "Stack Exchange", or "tl;dr" to "TLDR", and second, unnecessarily pushing recently-closed questions to the reopen queue.
His editing rules list is public, so if you want to avoid his edits, just make sure you're not using keywords that happen to be on the rule list ;)

@Magisch Generally around... 23 degrees or so up there.

2 hours later…
7:42 PM
@SonictheAnonymousWizHog It's pretty darn weird to edit "StackOverflow" to "Stack Overflow" but leave "tl;dr;" alone

@rene I disagree with this duplicate closure, as the answer to the target simply links back to the answer to this question.
Given that this one is a feature request while the other one is a bug report, I think neither of them should be closed.

@SonictheAnonymousWizHog I stand by my vote.

@rene Can you please explain why?

Restarting rene for him to get out of standby

Why close A as a duplicate of B, if the answer to B is a simple link to the answer to A?
I thought the point of duplicate closure was to direct people to where an answer is.

how about you re-open vote it?

8:14 PM
Huh, I kinda agree with Sonic, even though I like the circulation

@rene I did. It's also worth noting that I'm only the messenger

Not about bringing it to chat before a reopen vote though
@SonictheAnonymousWizHog Not everything is worth a lengthy debate. If I were you I'd've just VTR'd and commented on why I did so.

That being said, can you please explain the reason why you hammered it?

No,

If it got reopened it would have made no difference to rene
@rene Oof, someone's in Dutch mode
,

8:17 PM
@rene Please don't hide it.

I feel like tension is building up. Why don't we just take a breath.

I just took a breath. once.

Of the new oxygen that rene made
@MetaAndrewT. It must be painful holding your next breath by now

@SonictheAnonymousWizHog I've responded to the comment from Luuklag. That is all I have on offer.

See, simple as that.
We should be talking about crocheted stegosauruses in this chat

8:21 PM
no more steganosaurus :(

@MetaAndrewT. Well, I can sometimes be grumpy enough to qualify
But I'm in a chill mode right now. Remind me of something outrageous.

uhh... marshallow?

Yeah I uh . . . I clicked "save changes to all" and forget to revert back this one.
The Marshmallow is roasted.

THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS!

No it's outroastous

8:24 PM
ah, you're right, my bad...

Do you have something against marshmallows? ಠ_ಠ

nah, I only have something against marsh.

@MetaAndrewT. Did you know stenegorus had two rows of plates on his back that helped him get warm?
Made in MS Excel, the ordering was pretty messy.

@M.A.R. yes, accidentally though

8:47 PM
@M.A.R. Nooo. I already made one last week. Another one would be boooring :P

3 hours later…
11:40 PM

@JourneymanGeek Haven't slept yet. :P
