And I just gave Cesar an association bonus
02:55
morning!?

4 hours later…
06:51
Very green
07:04
Much bokeh
07:53
@JNat thanks!
server shutdown meta.stackexchange.com/questions/326868/… @Bart @rene @TravisJ
@GetAnswerWizard heh "bokeh" is very similar to "boker" which means morning in Hebrew. ;)
hehe silent @Journey is kabooming stuff silently ;)
@ShadowWizard more or less
08:08
Less than more? Hmm...
08:19
Not sure about the delete votes and downvotes on the answer here.
@rene the question is off topic and should be deleted. Answer will prevent Roomba from deleting it.
It's purely for Movies.SE meta site.
And surely asked there 1000 times already.
it might have been asked 1000 times, it sure isn't on MSE
@rene because it doesn't belong to MSE?
and it seems to be asked in a wider scope then just one site
It's something Movies.SE decided to do, it's their own business.
@rene no. Movie identification questions can could be asked only on one site in SE, which is Movies.SE
08:24
@ShadowWizard down voting for roomba is frowned upon, no?
@ShadowWizard okay, fair enough
@rene no idea.... I downvoted that one because we should not answer off topic questions.
ok, I've casted the last needed delete vote
just wanted to make sure I got this right
Well, IMO it's right. Others can disagree, though it's too late now. ;)
My one file upload function is already 1800 lines
halp
$file.upload("C:\\Magi-secret-files");
08:41
@Magisch not enough jQuery
@rene $('div[data-field-id="8213"].dropdown').dropdown('get value').replace(/(['"])/g, '');

meta.stackexchange.com/questions/326890/… [WayBackMachine goes off on a mission...]
@AskQuestionWizard Didn't the same thing happen to you with your last MSE account?
11:02
I want to ask a question on how long users can reasonably expect their account to be deleted, in case their account needs to be reviewed for vote preservation. But going through my initial draft, the tone seems rather patronizing and downvote-worthy. I need some help phrasing it.
@SonictheWizardWerehog suppose the answer is 6 to 8 days, confirmed by SE staff. For reasons unknown to us a deletion takes 10 days. What happens? Another complained on MSE: you said it takes 8 days! You're asking for an Service level agreement from a company that doesn't do these kind of non-sense. Just accept their planning and processing time is fluid.
@rene Yeah, good point. Maybe I should refocus my question from "how long" to "what's the process, why is it so lengthy?".
Hello all.
@SonictheWizardWerehog Why? It is lenghty and none of the details would make sense to us or be relevant except curiosity.
@JohnDvorak Hi, how is you day going so far?
So-so so far :P
11:16
good, good ;)
@rene No, it's to guide users like that one who just posted that question.
Besides, what's wrong with asking curious questions?
curiosity killed the cat, thats why he had to become a mars rover
Curiosity didn't kill the hedgehog
@SonictheWizardWerehog all that is needed to add to the FAQ is: allow for 6 to 8 days (up to 10 days) where you change that 10 to the next higher number of days when someone reports they waited longer then 10 days. This doesn't need moar details.
curiosity mildly irritated the flower though
and the flower is better left unirritated

@SonictheWizardWerehog It seems at least "OK". I'm not available for a few hours but if you were to simply come back and look at in a few hours you'd probably come to the same conclusion; it's "OK". If it really needs to shine look at it every couple of days for a week, it not as though there is a deadline or pressing need to know; the people in question don't seem disadvantaged by the wait. GL.

Hi all... I have a question: can diamond mods see who has flagged a comment as unfriendly/unkind? Or is it anonymised (if that is a word, anyway...)?
I believe they can see it for normal flags, since 2018 IIRC. Not sure if that is also added to comment flags.
@dim They can see it, but its behind a few clicks iirc
dim
dim
@Magisch Thanks.
@dim we can but we rarely look at who
If it's one of our posts we leave it for other mods
11:44
@rene But what about the third and fourth parts?
@JourneymanGeek meaning you call in TotallyNotJourneyman or the parrot cavalry
@Magisch I usually just leave it
I wanted to make a joke about how most of the meta.SE mods have animals as avatars
@Magisch well it wouldn't be a first
And the only mod that isn't an animal had a goat.
monica is kind of breaking the trend

Also, clear signal to anyone interested in moderating MSE... we only consider users who are animals. Humans and gravatars need not apply. ;)
clearly i'm in limbo here. I'm not an animal but also not a gravatar or human
The only flaw in the matrix
isAnimal -> !isHuman && !isGravatar
!isHuman && !isGravatar -/-> isAnimal
Or, the simple explanation is that the one who handed over the diamond is not part of the "we"
Nov 22 '18 at 1:56, by Sonic the Anonymous Hedgehog
@Catija Am I an animal?
Nov 22 '18 at 2:14, by Catija
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog Anthropomorphized animal... bit of a grey area.
@SonictheWizardWerehog That flows so well. I want a 'we' political movement now.
12:05
I have edited my gist of a proposed question to take into account @rene's advice about asking about time for deletion, and to make the tone less patronizing. It would be great if others reviewed it as well: gist.github.com/gparyani/c60630b78b34fefff8bd7eef992be8c6
@JNat daily cross network spammer for you. Thanks! :)
!!/watch steemit\.com/gold/@reshammjewellers
@SonictheWizardWerehog That pattern looks like it's already caught by Potentially bad keyword in body and Potentially bad keyword in answer; append -force if you really want to do that.
gold is bad key word? lol
@ShadowWizard Someone else watched the URL in CHQ
12:18
all gone
Saving the RO's some cleanup
...I think ROs still have to move the deleted message stubs?
no point, they won't appear in transcript.
They can move the deleted messages too, but... really can't see the point.
@Shadow Do you think the proposed question I linked above is good enough, or does it need some editing?
17 messages moved to Chimney
@SonictheWizardWerehog oh, it's already asked.

Q: How long does it take for an account delete request to be processed

user192255Just out of curiosity, how long does it take for an account delete request to be processed?

Word by word, almost. (title at least)
Things changed, but no point asking a new question.
12:30
@ShadowWizard Long-outdated. This was back in the days when SE would have to manually delete people's accounts.
@SonictheWizardWerehog so? Still, answers can cover it easily.
And before vote preservation too.
The current system of vote preservation was made in 2015.
Anyway, I don't think we should ask SE such a thing, it takes a long as it has to take.
@ShadowWizard By the way, I'm no longer asking how long does it take, as per rene's advice. The edited version is no longer addressed by the one you linked.
Don't be misled by the title; it's outdated, as clearly indicated
Well you can ask.... you'll likely get few downvotes, and small chance of having some official reply.
Also, the general case is already well asked and got a good answer here:

Q: "Contact us"... and then what?

nvoigtSo I had a dispute with the moderators at a specific SE site. As a result, I got suspended there. As per SE guidelines, I pressed the "Contact us" button and wrote to the higher powers to appeal. That was 5-6 weeks ago. There was zero feedback, neither positive, nor negative, not even "it's in p...

12:34
Why would it be downvoted?
@SonictheWizardWerehog because people can see it as nudging the team to do something faster
Isn't that a good thing?
@JohnDvorak maybe, but it's like that kid in the car saying "Are we there yet??" every 5 minutes. :)
@ShadowWizard Thanks for linking me to that; marked one of my earlier questions as a duplicate of that.
12:40
@ShadowWizard Maybe SE should start handing users GPS's, so that they don't keep pegging them about it?
The watch doesn't contain GPS?
@Pseudohuman how are you?
hmm... weird.
13:06
@ShadowWizard Saw your comment. He can't comment (he has 1 rep but would need 5). I guess he wrote that as an answer that was converted to a comment.
@AnneDaunted Yep, can confirm as a 10k+ user that it was converted to a comment
@AnneDaunted yes answer that was downvoted and converted to comment at some point. Forgot that comment everywhere privilege was changed to require 5 rep at some point on MSE, pretty sure it was set to 1 in the beginning.
@rene pretty sure OP made typo and meant "stored file", i.e. file on disk
@ShadowWizard wow, that is a weird typo then ...
Typo might be "by design" for them, i.e. like people here use "mayor" instead of "major".
(no need for names ;))
are the K and R close to each other on a French keyboard
@ShadowWizard but that is a mayor offense ...
13:19
@rene Might also be, yeah
13:35
some made a tpyo?
13:45
@ShadowWizard It was upped to 5 due to spam.
@rene Nope, they use AZERTY (which is AZ switched with QW respectively, K and R are still in the same spot, which is quite far on a QWERTY/AZERTY layout)
@SonictheWizardWerehog yeah, makes some sense
I have a stash of about 50 bread rolls in my house now... getting ready for Passover. (Actually it's for wife and children, I don't eat bread during Passover. ;))
Assuming max consumption rate of 5 rolls per day, it should be just enough.
@Mithrandir I have a feeling you are more strict and your whole family is not eating any kind of bread? You also made ביעור חמץ already? :)
@glo isn't glowing pingable (but he was the first to vote to delete)
anyway.... KABOOOM
Also the short name pings for only 2 days after last visit, why not using the full names? @ren
14:02
because lazy
lol
Laziness killed the cat ping... :D
(pretty sure @Bar doesn't ping Bart now)
@Glorfindel isn't pingable now either
@rene Why not modify the script that posts that to check /rooms/pingable/89 (JSON) to see if the users are pingable, and not ping non-pingable users?
13 mins ago, by rene
because lazy
;)
I thought JSON was easy to parse with regex
@ShadowWizard meta.stackexchange.com/questions/326904/… the first user seems oddddlyyyyy familiar
14:16
@SonictheWizardWerehog Still will take more than few seconds to write the code...
@SonictheWizardWerehog you don't parse easily with regex
@JourneymanGeek I know! :D
@JourneymanGeek hmm, suspicious...
@rene Can't read my, can't read my, no you can't read my poker face...
Also, that other user is very much like you: name starts with Jo, almost same avatar.... @Journeyman ;)
14:17
I parse regex with regex!
I regex parse with regex!
@ShadowWizard Seems they parse their 1040s with regex
@SonictheWizardWerehog good song
I parse html with regex
fight me
Well, a limited subset of html without nesting and no self containing tags
14:28
@Magisch I pity you
and what's left of your shriveled blackend soul ;p
@Magisch at least not with eval
we have a no exceptions no eval policy
I got a personal no regex policy
people act like its impossible to parse html with regex. Only if you want to parse every possible permutation of HTML with regex
@Magisch Its possible, its just.,... silly
also a SE meme
14:31
regex is a nice tool with many uses that can do what you want quickly and effectively, if you're positive about the scope and its not too complex
Anyway, expected lot more GoT HNQ to appear. lol
Gave them a hand by posting one myself, but still...
why on earth would I ever use a xml parser to get 3 specific tag contents from a web page
thats like seeing a bird and getting out the ICBM
lol
I got a handy 10 lines function to parse basic stuff out of HTML
I used Soup though... to parse Meatball
@GetAnswerWizard get hungry at work a lot?
14:42
🤤
@GetAnswerWizard you used @Norm?!

1 hour later…
16:14
@ShadowWizard That sounds like a violation of CoC, and some other things
What is Beetlejuice?
@ShadowWizard it does
@rene Is that a legit question, a trick question, or a question question?
Inspired by an earlier tweet from Nick
I clicked "Poll now" here . Utterly disappointed it didn't refresh ...
16:36
side note: is it wizzard week (misspelling intentional)
Bill the Wizzard?

@SonictheWizardWerehog Spam, all the way down.
feel free to spam on this answer too
17:05
@rene Did you pin that?
@AskQuestionWizard Samuel Liew resigned as an SO mod
17:24
Apparently his account was compromised
I feel like you're missing the implications of "let's just say". So, please refrain from speculation and let Sam sleep.
@SonictheWizardWerehog curb speculation while we dont have all the details
this is not a space to speculate and/or slag off a SO mod
He might have deleted a Jon Skeet answer and Jon noticed ...
Rob
Rob
@rene What do you think caused the recent outages? ;)
Jon noticed! :D
17:41
@ShadowWizard Already? No way... that's only erev chag
17:55
It absolutely baffles me how some people are defending a 12 hour 6 days a week work schedule
are they out of their damn minds
@Magisch What also baffles me is that here in the States, companies are allowed to report 40 hours a week even though they make their employees work longer
@SonictheWizardWerehog For hourly employees?
the concept of salaried vs non salaried is a us thing
Salaried workers
Only management is allowed that kind of contract here.
I'm a software developer, I'm not a hourly worker I get paid monthly, but they stil have to give my overtime as PTO in lieu for everything
18:07
man... I miss overtime sometimes. Nothing like working a sunday night to get 2x pay for a nice video card upgrade.
@Magisch Ah, yes, my uncle in the UK actually gets better pay as a contractor than as an employee, because benefits are unnecessary due to NHS, etc.
I got a full day PTO for 3 hours of network maintenance on saturday
18:21
My company doesn't have overtime, so please leave on time (if possible)!
i got overtime when i was hourly, but not salaried
19:05
@SonictheWizardWerehog No
I saw the post
It was too late to delete that message
oh
derp xd
19:36
@Magisch Nah, it's still a thing here in Canada.
But my province, at least, says you get paid for overtime, even if salaried, unless you meet some very stringent criteria.
