Hey Art.

I miss @Sonic (gparyani) a lot, without whom MSE loses a large portion of valuable activity, particularly FAQ edits.

@ɪBᴜɢ not everyone likes having a ton of edits though

Something I really admire about the R community: look at these stickers! I'm so jealous of them every time I see @juliasilge's laptop. It's such a great/simple gesture that people got together and decided on a common size like this everyone can share. I wish everyone made these. https://twitter.com/juliasilge/status/1086723555608457218
if this happens, I want a ton of stickers, and might need to shop for another cheap plastic laptop. XD
(I currently have a sticker festooned HP Stream 11)

I want a sticker from Anime.SE!

They don't have a theme... yet. :P

No one pinged me in my sleep? I feel underloved.

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ How many pings while you're awake will it take to make up for that?

2^googol
Basically, a "sorry M.A.R. but that was out of the line and I have to suspend you for a week" ping in my sleep is better than "here's my million-dollar bank account's info, all yours" ping in my wake

9:05 AM
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ go to sleep. Then ping me and I'll ping you
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ that could be arranged. All you need to do is be out of line in your sleep

@JourneymanGeek If you take a look around I probably do have a 2016 off-line message so stop being lazy and find one when I'm asleep
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ It'd be awesome if this one is out of line

I've closed this but as I'm in the minority it decided to opt for the duplicate instead of OT/Belongs somewhere else. Maybe @JourneymanGeek needs to have a look if he fancies to have this op the Meta of SU ....

@rene not really much we can do if we move it to SU meta
The answer is still shrug we can't do anything

Somebody know what this is supposed to mean? meta.stackexchange.com/a/322644/364003 I feel like this is a troll... (and it is gone...)

@MEEisJohannGambolputty... seems fishy

you can normally add current instead of the userid in urls to the user profile. That doesn't work for https://stackoverflow.com/users/recently-deleted-questions/current. Is there a workaround / alternative route that offers the current trick?

Other than they CWing the post here.
Which smells a bit odd, but I don't really see anything else to worry about for now

@JourneymanGeek wasn't the answer got CWed because the question is a CW?

.... clearly I'm distracted
then there's absolutely nothing fishy other than the post

Q: What resists one to ask question in forums or Q&A sites?

Immortal PlayerIt seems that certain notions have resisted me to not ask questions in Q&A sites or forums. What are the common recurring notions or reaso...

@ImmortalPlayer its still a bit...
hard to read

I will try editing it again. What do I do for deleted part, which I want to post as answer now?

wait for the question to get reopened I assume

Okay. Thank you.

and this is one of those circumstances where a community reopen would be preferable simply because of the reaction its gotten so far

1:25 PM
@ImmortalPlayer If anything, the answers will be opinion based. It looks like you expect us to do some mind reading of users who do not post. Why is it even a problem if a user doesn't post a question? Why do we need to solve that? What if those users don't want to read tours and helpcenters? Adding more text / pages will not serve them.

mmmm….thinking
We may just be making every one know, that there is optimal way of thinking than isolated thinking. And if there were negative notions, which might have been not allowing them ask in sites...

Also: Meta is for questions about sites in the network which are referred to as Q/A sites. We definitely don't consider the sites to be "forums" and asking a question that don't seem to focus on a perceived issue on the Q/A sites in the network is bound to be broad if not off-topic.

...Sorry, I wanted question to give a general solution, which would be helpful or apply for eliminating notions not allowing users to post
...
in either q&A or forums
I will be back soon, my dad is calling me...

@ImmortalPlayer so that sounds like a re-run of what is stated on How To Ask and/or the question checklist

Some possible answers: they're afraid of getting negative feedback, they feel unwelcomed (for in/valid reasons), they don't have questions, they have questions but their having a hard time to word it and give up, they ...

1:39 PM
I also sometimes have to resist the urge of writing similar long meta posts because I realize that realistically, the people I need or want to read the post won't ever read it. @Immort
@andmyself They use wrong ellipses
@Immort Lots of meta topics have already been covered, and any new post similar to what you're posting should strive to be something between a collection of some of the info dispersed in previous ones and new insights and perspectives into the problems and to do either of those, considering what you want the post to achieve, the post has to be like 100k chars long, already outliving its usefulness. That's why I said those reasons are too many to count and useless to compile

yup
And sadly - its very hard to simply tell someone "its ok, you can post"

Basically "how to meta and everything else". There's no shortcut for some things and people would have to pick them up with some experience
@JourneymanGeek its ok, you can post

or lots of experience

That didn't sound hard
Except the "its"

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ NO I CAN'T ITS SO SCARY HOLD ME SENPAI!

@rene I wanted to clarify more here. Stack exchange seems to be site for us all to get answers for any of our desired utilities. And if stack exchange can help others know on how to attain it, by eliminating anything which may be resisting it, it seems to be attaining what it is made for. At large scale, it seems to be like updating algorithms of humans, to know the optimal way of getting solutions, after certain pre-isolated thinking. If a user doesn't post a question, it is a problem..
...for the speed at which our generation attains utilities...
that implies everything, faster attainment of things, which were been attained at slow speed before. I don't know, most of the time, I see certain things as to be giving certain utility, and afterwards, in the process, I see on it being of not that utility, which I had previously thought as; I don't know whether the changes I am saying here would giving utility as I have thought or not, but lets see...
I think I will give some time for this, and think on it...and come back later...if it is of any use...I will say it here, and edit or make post...
@rene It seems that we might need "Reasons to ask question" page, which seems to be different from the pages How to Ask, and The Question Checklist, which you are linking to.

2:30 PM
@ImmortalPlayer but if you had no reasons to ask questions you would be unlikely to be here
It might be worth... kinda working on the wording here. Stuff like "certain pre-isolated thinking" means nothing to me

thinking...
my brain seems to run a bit slow speed :)

I kinda suspect its the opposite
chill, get your thoughts in order
Effective meta posts is storytelling
and micro sf is better than trying to do a GRRM ;)
keep it short, sweet and to the point.
Keep the language as simple and as uncomplicated as you can

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Bad keyword in answer (86): How many Doctors, apart from Doctor Who? by yetanothercoder on movies.SE

@JourneymanGeek Some of them who have questions, or it seems that all of them, who question to themselves to attain certain things, might be in our sites, and would answer a lot of others questions, but not post a question....it seems that if they are said on how collaborative thinking, can allow attainment of same thing which they might have attaining before, in least time, they might start posting questions.....what I wanted to say is, there seems to be people ….
...who might not know reasons to ask, which they might need to know, for the attainment of things in least time

@ImmortalPlayer that's still a massive run on sentence with a lot of assumptions on the reader getting what you're talking about

2:43 PM
@JourneymanGeek Sorry, I will try to clarify...
"if you had no reasons to ask questions you would be unlikely to be here"

There seem to be users who answer lot of questions and not post many questions, and they seem to be here, and that might suggest on they not knowing reasons to ask questions. Even if I had not known reasons to ask questions, it seems likely for me to be here.

I am not sure whether this post is truly off-topic. While it is about a post on one site it is not really about the rules of one site. The closure reason even reads: Questions on Meta Stack Exchange should relate to features or policies that commonly apply to the network

Ironic, that question is also 3 sentences.

"Stuff like "certain pre-isolated thinking" means nothing to me"

By pre isolated thinking, I meant thinking which has been done in isolation, without any others help to attain the solution of the problem, before making a post here.

3:00 PM
so say so
But I think working on your own - then asking for help when you're stuck is essential
well technically, think. search then ask

Yeah, I agree. I don't know why you used "but"

In a sense asking questions isn't, on its own a good way to use SE
It's easy to be hung up on questions
So 'isolated thinking' as you put it is actually a essential part of the problem solving process

Yeah, isolated thinking has to be done before asking...
….
sorry, I don't mean to say that one need to only ask question here
It seems that some of them, even after going through isolated thinking, would not ask question here, they might get stuck with notions...
and it is for them, I am asking stack exchange to identify any existing wrong notions, and give them right reasons to ask it here...
And originally in my post, I wanted to know "side effects" of asking question; and if stack exchange can express this too, it might allow users to know on eliminating such side effects...
"I wanted also (along with reasons to ask) to know "side effects" of asking question"
last line was a edit of my previous sentence

3:21 PM
@rene you voted to close this question. I don't think it is off-topic because it is not about specific site guidelines. You even said here that meta-people are often "trigger-happy"

I stand by my vote. I'm even tempted to delete vote it here as I find it a tad unclear to be helpful for future visitors, despite the answer.
It could well be that the site that closed their question have explicit guidance on how to ask the type of questions the OP is struggling with. None of that applies to all sites in the network

> [Don't ask about] Proofreading (for example, "Are there any mistakes?" or "Is this correct?"), unless a source of concern is clearly specified
@rene ok, got your point. The issue has been resolved (question reopened) and you might be correct with the site-specific rules:

@MEEisJohannGambolputty... FWIW, I VTC'd because the way I would have answered on meta.ELL would have been different than if I did here.
