I was texting my mom (Messages) on my work computer, which has that fancy touchbar thing instead of F keys... and I wrote half of a long word I didn't want to try to spell... and used the word suggestion to finish it ...

I'm not generally a fan of the touchbar other than for unlocking the computer... but I'm disturbed that I actually used it.

I just hate Apple's insistence to not equip any of their Mac products with touchscreens.

I think there's a few levels... the base level default is an Air... CMs are considered sort of partial devs for various reasons, so we get upgraded to MBPs... but if we don't want Apple products, we can request an equivalent Windows machine... presumably Linux but I didn't really ask.

For me it is... but when I took my digital animation class I had to get used to not drawing on the surface where the image is created... I used a Cintiq for some of the stuff but I couldn't always get one, so I had to get used to both.

I am currently asking a coworker to test the same installer on another VM created from the same template

(Windows 10 pro, 1803 update)

if the installer fails even for him, we know something is broken in the installer.

Which may be the case - the android studio site seems to indicate that the current version was released in september.

so, it is very possible the version I tested and installed a week ago isn't the same I downloaded now....

My time to rant about programming and work :P I just asked the scrum master to up my workload a little, and he promised I'd be doing work on other parts of the codebase/application as well if the part I'm working on doesn't require enough fixing and developing to keep me entertained. BUT at the same time I got an e-mail from a project manager that's pretty vague, but seems to imply they want me on another team, working only on that small part of the codebase that I'm working on now :(

I sure hope that's not going to happen, it would make work very boring.

SINO? There is a backlog, and it is prioritized. Problem mainly is that I only have experience with a single part of the codebase yet, and that that part sometimes has to wait on other developers to do major changes before I can make the changes required on my side.

I could technically start working on the next big item on the backlog, but it will require some other senior dev to explain stuff to me and we need to 'plan' that time.

Also, it's a bit weird, but they assign stories to specific people based on 'area of expertise' before a sprint is even planned or started :/

We now have Gitlab, they're using the branching strategy I proposed... They're working on automated builds and deployments, and on getting a good OTAP street.

Maybe the cherry picking is the only flaw ;) It's not like there's no preparation for 'under the bus' scenarios... Everyone knows a bit about everything, but it's easier to have developers focus on their stuff if you have a first product to deliver in three weeks ;)
