Hm, chat does not rewrite Amazon links to SO affiliate. Revenue loss right there.

At 8:01 I was instantly hit with regret for not appropriately trolling MSE with a title edit. Alas.

@JonEricson Imagine all the 'cat toys' you arn't getting a cut on...

Does the amazon affiliate program let you see a breakdown of the types of products that were purchased through the links?

I hope not, for the sake of cats' privacy.

@JasonC Gotta spend the next few minutes contemplating whether "disingenuous upvotes [are] worse than false downvotes".

Lol, I was just reflecting on that.

Hopefully my terribad luck with employers dosen't carry on.

user315433
Starting a new job Monday is not so bad.

user315433
Some of the students we're graduating would like that.

12:26 AM
lol. I've been hunting for one, essentially since 2015
Job market here is ... odd

I wonder why that "disingenuous upvote" post doesn't show in the active list any more; it hasn't been deleted. Some kind of weird caching thing maybe.

ahh, caching. The lupus of webdevs....
some days I wonder if a minimal network wide rep for posting on MSE wouldn't be a bad idea
say... 2.

user315433
It got 8 false downvotes, at -8 meta posts are hidden.

user315433
But I think read-only users should be able to report bugs somewhere. They can't do it on per-site metas (5 rep), so MSE is the only way.

user315433
It's not like they do it often, though.

I sent in my application form... after I got the job. Not signed a contract yet

That's weird... shouldn't you sign a contract before starting to work?

Otherwise they can simply not pay you, and claim it's not written anywhere they should pay you...

er. Yeah It has been totally verbal so far

@ShadowWizard heh. I actually suspect a meta post on the android app, and the lack of any maintainance on it lately would almost certainly be a upvote magnet. I still feel vaguely terrible about it though

That's over a year ago?
> So yeah. I hope I don't do another update on this post in 12 months explaining why we still haven't done anything on Android.

Yup. I think nothing was done with the app for two years now.
Not a single bug fixed, not a single feature added.

@ShadowWizard but, on the positive side, stackapps.com/questions/7351/…

9:10 AM
eh posted

So it looks like there will also be a 2.3 version for the API

Bring it on, I'm ready for another bug hunting!
But if I'm not mistaken, it focuses on SO's features, not general SE sites.
Hence the name, SO app

@Elephant yeah, true

@JourneymanGeek that's a dupe...
(status update can be given on the original question, better just bump it)

But I expect that the 2.3 api will also have some fixes for the other endpoints, no?

9:18 AM
On current condition, fixing the API won't probably fix some other bugs, since there's HTTP endpoint too (e.g. HNQ list)
Or... I dunno. The HNQ list is updated inside the app, but the HNQ widget borks.

@ShadowWizard vaguely yeah
@Elephant this would make it mostly useless for a lot of us :p

@JourneymanGeek at least I can bug the devs for new bugs

This past weekend, CHAOS was working the New York Comic Con (NYCC) here in New York City. It was kind of amazing. But CHAOS wasn’t the only one working hard this weekend….

Meet Bubbles, the Stack Exchange mascot! Some of you might recognize her from her cameo on the podcast video stream a few weeks ago, but her official debut was this weekend at Comic Con. We’ll be honest: not everyone here at Global Domination Headquarters was completely sold on getting Bubbles. I’m not naming any names, Joel, but some people just didn’t see the value in it. Well, the joke’s on those people, ’cause Bubbles was a smash hit. …

user315433
Certainly the answer is "no" (as Al E already wrote). One can try to interpret various merges and migrations to SE 2.0 platform as "losing independence" but that's not really what the question is about.

Is there SEDE for listing all sites and their reputation gained from questions/answers?
Or is it too expensive?

user315433
@Elephant It's simple enough to total the reputation of all users.

user202362
I love old newbies ... like some 87 year old new player

user315433
It's next to impossible to recalculate reputation earned from votes, because of daily caps and such.

2:41 PM
Why do you need it though @Elephant? Other than a fact nugget of the day
Obviously, SO values are gonna skyrocket, and betas will be close to empty
It's more or less gonna look like some mixed stat of Oldest and most active sortings

user315433
Apparently, Security recently reached 10M rep.

user315433
@M.A.R. More arbitrary base-10 milestones to celebrate.

I guess I really need to clarify my query... want to know rep gained on all questions, and rep gained on all answers
or simply, ratio of rep on questions:answers

Oh

user315433
2:45 PM
That's pretty much impossible, I think. As an approximation, I would take the some of all question scores * 5 and the sum of all answer scores * 10.

That could make sense if you want to propose to increase rep gained by question upvotes

@Gerry I guess that, also bounties

user315433
Too hard, and too few to matter.

user315433
The effect of rep cap is greater than all bounties combined.

user315433
And there are acceptances. That's why I think it's hopeless to try to recreate reputation earned in SEDE.

2:47 PM
Yeah...

user315433
We don't even have the data required, such as the precise timestamps of votes.

Well
Rep gained only on questions and on answers isn't quite impossible. I mean you can get really close.
You can do the rep cap and everything in a query. The vote timestamps are there but they're rounded to the day, which is enough info to get what you want.
The only thing that prevents you from getting exact is you can't account for rep cap differences due to rep lost from casting downvotes, but that's pretty negligible.

and deleted posts that gave you rep for more then 60 days ...

Rough approximation is good enough for me. I really don't expect the exact result

If you want to recreate reputation exactly, not just rep gained on q's and a's, you can't. You can't tell who cast votes, and you can't tell if somebody got an association bonus, and a couple other things.

2:53 PM

@Elephant data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/query/667090?UserId=616460 is a starting point for up/down rep gained with cap. you'll need to add in accepts and bounties. i don't have time to write more. but maybe that helps.
