Not clear why Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair is Culture/Recreation... Placing it in Life/Arts would make more sense, along with Home Improvement

Didn't SO used to have a title graphic? Did that go away with the new nav or has that been gone for a while?
For some reason I just now got the feeling that something's missing on the page that I can't put my finger on. It's weird.

Aside from the nav bar has it always been like that?
And why am I just bothered by this now after having used this site for almost 6 years.

user202362
because the sticky header bar brought attention to the layout of the site, especially the top part

Well it's irrelevant that it's sticky since I'm scrolled all the way up.
But really? There was no page header before?

user202362
There used to be a place where you could check all the website layout history

user202362
only if I could find it

8:59 AM
@JasonC oh, you mean the nav bar itself, not the top bar? You can opt out of that in the edit profile preferences.
@rene done!
@JasonC the logo became much smaller, that's true.
@JourneymanGeek lol, you follow my activity on SE sites? :D

@ShadowWizard >_> no?
People generally call that style of icon that, from chrome

9:19 AM
@JourneymanGeek lol, I recently posted something about three seashells in a movie so I assumed you were referring to that.... ;-)

...why?
How weekend got anything to do with featured question?

what?
"ain't got time for that" I guess?

slackers ...

@Bart oh, you mean if there are new answers/comments? From what I've seen they stay without response many times anyway so...

Dunno what post it refers to, so wild guess

The only post that was featured on MSE yesterday... you don't keep track of MSE?! Bad @Bart! :P

9:50 AM
Maybe Joel will take another stand this weekend and there needs to be featured slot to get as many views as possible?

hehe, his stand will find a place in the history books.... ;)
"How a Q&A site helped to take Trump down"

Yeah no
Anyways, I hope they don't get rid of the headers on all the rest of the sites. Some of them are really nice.

@JasonC screen estate isn't unlimited. Compromises are due.
Looks awesome but lacks functionality vs great UX but a bit dull
something like that

10:05 AM
I'm so happy I don't have to do UI work. The absolute horror

@rene well, on SO there are extra tabs (Jobs and Documentation) which don't exist on any other site. I think that's the main reason for the design change.
I mean, there isn't enough room for all the tabs in the ordinary design. It worked, but didn't look well.

@Bart the worst part in such a job is the negative feedback you get after you do some change...

@Bart Yeah, it is not my cup of tea either. I get seriously upset when in an sprint-review 80% of the time is used to complain about a mis-alignment of 2 textboxes ...

I mean, I disliked the new top bar at first too, but just because it was sticky.

10:11 AM
It's a hell of a lot of work and you never get it right

that ^

I found the old nav bar better tbh

@Bart because there's no right or wrong in those things.

Only wrong

hehe
so sad

I might just add a picture of cheese and a css-animation to my sites to make everyone bloody aware their cheese is moved on a daily basis...

FYI, the standard of our site-creation process is to match the name of the site to the URL... unless... there is a very well-established industry abbreviation that is easily recognizable. — Robert Cartaino ♦ 11 hours ago

@ShadowWizard what happened with the accepted answer here? Why isn't that the first when you're sorted on votes?

I should not have taken the bait

... right ...
A bachelor in Homeopathy, validated by Middlesex University

@Bart See this just pisses me off
A university shouldn't hold courses on a methodology that is self-admittedly unscientific and rejects actual science.

3:45 PM
I'm just fine with it. Fine. All is fine ... I SAID FINE!!!
And then give a bachelor in science for it ...

...
Even the theory of the discipline admits it's not even trying to be science
just what
either its not homeopathy or its not a bachelor of science
these things are mutually exclusive

The day after leaving the job, Sklivvz asked Can I get high by snorting chocolate?. Not sure about cause-effect relation here.

@zaq I think maybe he has a couple weeks before starting his new job at the new company, so he's looking for new and inventive ways of using chocolate in free time. :P

@Magisch bachelor of bullshit: learn how to scam people just the right way, not like other con artists

5:10 PM
Do we need to cherry-pick for rude/abussive flags in this comment thread or could we simply nuke everything in one go? There doesn't seem to be any value, to be honest.
I don't find it always clear if the OP is targeting a user/group or just rambling about online shops.
Flagged for a SE staff to handle ...

@Sklivvz fixed, thanks

@balpha I'm also a mod on stack exchange

6:03 PM
@Sklivvz se.com?

You're the first person I meet that goes out of his way to relinquish as many diamonds as quickly as possible :p

@Oded yup
@Magisch nobody wants do be a mod on stackexchange, come on

That seems to be a fact, yeah

well if you just mean se.com then yes because there isn't much to do with it (that I know of)
MSE would be fun though
If just to nuke spam faster

For that just ping @Oded. He likes to kill spam

6:12 PM
I'm usually on top of spam on MSE :)

we could make a tampermonkey extension that autopings oded on spam flags

@Oded You know I'm all about that spam everywhere
Usually spam these days doesn't last a minute

Pretty much across the network, yes.

With 3 autoflags from charcoal and 2-3 people in the charcoal room, the room alone often nukes spam in under 20s
Specifically going from 1 -> 3 auto flags seems to have decreased time to deletion for autoflag eligible spam by 70%

@Oded would you mind looking at this as well or route it to a CM if you don't want to touch it. I have a flag on that as well.

6:17 PM
Comments nuked.

rene
do you know about the planned meta post

@Magisch yep
@Oded thx

flowery opinions?

I think it is OK, the last paragraph was edited after I noticed it didn't ask a question.
I wonder though what the response will be

I think it'll be mixed
I'm not sure most of the CMs know about what we're doing by now
Unless pops told them

6:20 PM
@Sklivvz - fixed

Wait, oded, you're a dev and not a CM right?

Yep
But, will dabble at community work here and there :)

Do you know if pops told people at the company about the charcoal autoflagging thing?
If not we'll have a few surprised CMs on monday

It is known.

Thats good, so at least we'll have no surprised CMs
and that also means if some really objected we'd know by now

6:23 PM
May still have surprised CMs - they don't always listen, you see.

mhm
Lets hope it goes over well then

If anyone complains, tell them to talk to me

I'm less worried about staff complaints and more about meta hardliners

@Oded Because you will give them the same treatment by not listening either?

You know me so well

6:25 PM
thanks

rene is the empathethic flower
@rene Whats your asessment on the meta hardliners and their reaction?

I think they will keep quiet

I haven't been as active on meta as I used to in the past couple months so I can't really gauge

They probably agree that removal of spam is a good thing

This ^^^
Smokie agrees
