Q: Tag (and link?) styling on per-site metas has changed

Monica CellioThis might be related to Dropdowns (site chooser, inbox, notifications, mod inbox) no longer use uniform styling, but that was fixed last night and I'm still seeing this. A: Whatever happened to Stack Overflow TV (SOTV)?

Matt ShermanIt never got the momentum I was hoping for, and so died not with a bang, but with a whimper. We got a very good video producer, and some talented (and generous) speakers, but after cough hours of effort we stopped seeing the payoff. (Not in terms of literal $$, but always-scarce hours and attenti...

it doesn't really fit the ethos of SO (answers for practical software issues). Or, at least videos aren't a good fit for that (e.g., code tutorials presented as videos are the worst things since Hitler, objectively speaking). It would be a much better fit for other sites on SE. Like turning a hot question on arqade into a two minute video. Keep it on the cheap and simple and you might find you've got something good. — Will 2 hours ago

4:58 PM
@DalijaPrasnikar prior to SE introducing stronger means of handling low quality questions at Stack Overflow this was not much of a problem at smaller sites - there were just not many askers and site communities could handle these "on front page" so to speak. Now that scared cockroaches started running away from SO trying to push their garbage anywhere else (that is, at other SE sites), amount of troublesome questions over there increased too much for local communities to handle. And SE management does exactly nothing about that — gnat 7 hours ago
Obviously "experimenting with 3 close votes to close a question" equals nothing...

I'm surprised all review queues aren't like the LQRQ, wherein it takes more Looks OK votes to override the Recommend Deletion votes.
@KutuluMike Thanks? :P

does going through the reopen queue and failing erase the reopen votes?
it had 4 when i got there

user315433
Votes only go away when they expire (or take effect).

user315433
Expiration (aging) takes a few days at a minimum.

user315433
@hichris123 What do you mean? 6 RecDels are needed for deletion, and required number of Looks OK is # of flags + 2, which can be 3 in practice.

6:00 PM
@404 I thought it took more Looks OKs if there were Recommend Deletion votes. No?
Maybe my knowledge of SE intricacies is getting rusty...

no; you might be thinking of Suggested Edits. There is a threshold where a sufficient number of Recommend Deletion reviews will trigger another flag for moderator oversight if LO reviews hit a threshold, but

Ah yeah that's probably what I was thinking of. The conflicted review auto-flag or whatever.

Q: Why is the Fibonacci series used in agile planning poker?

asmaierWhen estimating the relative size of user stories in agile software development the members of the team are supposed to estimate the size of a user story as being 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, ... . Do I have to; I understand the sanctity of SO requires that I prove to the SO elders that I tried to learn first and better myself, but if you've used Tableau before, then you'll know that while it's robust, anytime you want to do something beyond the basics, there's a 90% it involves some non-intuitive hack. @rene What do you do, play a hand of poker?

I see you are really interested in the topic ...

user315433
Planning poker, also called Scrum poker, is a consensus-based, gamified technique for estimating, mostly used to estimate effort or relative size of development goals in software development. In planning poker, members of the group make estimates by playing numbered cards face-down to the table, instead of speaking them aloud. The cards are revealed, and the estimates are then discussed. By hiding the figures in this way, the group can avoid the cognitive bias of anchoring, where the first number spoken aloud sets a precedent for subsequent estimates. Planning poker is a variation of the Wideband...

It's a nice diversion from trying to salvage posts.
100% agree that the "closed as off topic" is wrong and that the guildelines should be updated - more lenience is needed - SO is heading in the wrong direction. It is obvious that @will is completely off the mark, and should have his moderator privileges removed - this single question is proof enough. — stolsvik Apr 9 '13 at 15:22

@bluefeet I used it on all my projects since 2008 and never looked back. If done correctly it can't go wrong.

@404 I'm on the fence about it. While that is true, it seems more of a DBA question than a programming question.

user315433
Right, and DBA.se didn't exist in 2008.

true
But is it on-topic for SO?

user315433
I guess at the time it was considered on topic. Nowadays would be migrated to DBA. So we'd have a hard time getting it reopened.

@cubrr It is an effort to salvage the question but it is not a great question. So I would accept but also close vote the question.
