It seems like the LQP wording changes were reverted.

user315433
@JeffreyBosboom What changes?

Hmmm, or maybe not. Or maybe it depends on the age of the post, or something. (Specifically, the should-be-comment text didn't have the "; instead, provide answers that don't require clarification from the asker." text.)
That one seems to be based on the rep of the answerer - if they're above some (low) number, they get the old text without that clause.

user315433
Yes, the change was that for rep <50 we don't tell them to use comments.

user315433
Since it's pointless to say "you should have commented" when they can't.

Yes, that makes sense. I just didn't notice it was rep-dependent before.

When I view my review activity in the profile, it never shows Recommend Deletion actions: only Looks Okay from the LQ queue. Is this how it's supposed to work?

No. I see 'Recommend Deletion' in my history.

@JeffreyBosboom For me, the 3rd page of your reviews ends with seven Looks Okay in a row, stackoverflow.com/users/3614835/… Is this how it was?

@404 Oh, the history in the profile, sorry. Yeah, Recommend Deletions aren't shown there for me either. I'm not sure what the intended behavior is.
I recommended deletion three times after that Looks OK on the Julia answer, so there should be some on that page.

It's misleading especially because at election time, voters are invited to look at the reviews by mod candidates.

Q: "Recommend Deletion" not shown on "all actions" tab

ProgramFOXWhen looking at my "all actions" tab, I noticed that I didn't see any "Recommend Deletion" actions of the Low Quality Posts queue, even while I did some of these reviews today. And the reason cannot be that all of the "Recommend Deletion"ed posts are already deleted, because some of them are not....

Nearly a year and no response.

The shortener's base URL says all URLs and analytics are public, but I don't see how to view the target (though the page is broken by something I'm blocking). Pasting the short URL into Google's search form is also useless.
I don't know why Stack Exchange doesn't ban link shorteners globally. I can't think of a valid use case.

Q: Why is there a peeking duck in my profile pic?

Mark GarciaIn my SO profile, you may see something odd: a peeking duck. I've just recently uploaded this new profile picture of mine. I checked it after the upload and everything's fine. After a few hours, I opened my profile and there it is, the duck has somehow become afraid of the people viewing it. ...

imgur fault, the thumbnail generator failed for some reason, just re-upload and it will be fine.

@AaronHall no, it's like putting you in prison.
You can't post, can't comment, can't do anything.
For a fixed amount of time.
Execution is nuking an account.

Is it correct to say that SO owns the content you post?

@AaronHall not sure myself, never really figured out all the legal and CC-by-something stuff. :(

@AaronHall no. Content you post is licensed under CC-BY-SA, but you still retain the original rights over the content

So SO owns what then?

She lets me hold her for like a window of 15 to 30 seconds. The window goes away when I sit down.

So you don't give SO an unlimited right to use and modify the content?

2:56 PM
@AaronHall it's not SO that modify the content, it's ordinary people like you and me.
aka "the community".

Ok, so SO owns the irrevocable right to post and adapt the content so long as it follows the terms of CC-BY-SA - such as attribution, showing whether edits were made, and providing the edited content under the same license.

It looks like an old Apple II color palette.

@AaronHall no Apple there, plain old CGA which is from IBM. :)
(Playing Golden Axe few years later, with VGA, was a true wonder... ;))

I thought Kasra worked for SE full-time, but apparently not.

user315433
Who is the SE mod with the highest network-wide rep?

user315433
Probably Gilles.

user315433
Yes, Gilles has over 700K network rep.

user315433
But egreg, appointed as an Italian Language pro-tem mod today, has 543K, possibly second place.

Martijn Pieters would be very near egreg if Meta Stack Exchange rep is counted (which I don't want to do)

@404 why not count MSE? :(

Because it's an abomination that has rep as a historical artefact. A lot of which came from meta.so activities that don't earn any rep today.

@Undo it's about time, congratulations!

In Signal Processing election, the necessary 4th nomination arrived 10 hours before the election start. Final round has just begun.

user315433
And is a very strong candidate, actually: became my 1st choice. 552 edits; the other three candidates have 590 combined. 1314 downvotes; the other three have 80 combined.

user315433
And since I wasn't going to vote for lowercase under any circumstances, the choice of 3 was easy.

I don't like saying this, but I really hate one of the mods on Super User.
My biggest pet peeve with random is lack of transparency regarding his moderation actions.
random seems to take a more radical approach to moderation but often doesn't give a complete explanation of those actions.
I just had to vent my frustration with random.

@random You seem to take a rather unusual approach to moderation, and yet you're always a mystery. Care to explain yourself better? We'd all benefit from understanding the philosophy behind your approach and how it might be better.
in Root Access on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, Mar 4 at 4:27, by random
Deletion is the approach to moderation
in Root Access on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, Mar 4 at 4:31, by random
You don't explain moderation like it's a rule, it's a feeling
There's merit to these statements, but I really want to see some transparency.
Agreed. In my experience, @random can be rather pedantic about the "cleanliness" of the site, including things like the length of tag wiki excerpts. There is some merit in his answer, but tag wiki edits on tags that are expected to be deleted soon are not entirely useless—they can still provide useful guidance to users, including advising that the tag not be used. — bwDraco Feb 27 at 16:25

As I said, if you're making up things, just tell me what the point is. I'll understand, you don't need to make an example out of me.
This has just taken me to the breaking point.
in Root Access on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, Aug 19 '15 at 3:22, by DragonLord
@random, can you not play around with me about any future mod elections? Like I said, I'll understand if you just tell me what you're trying to express. I can't really accept this as true.
It's frustrating as hell to deal with a moderator who is not forthcoming with things like this.

I assume you already tried on their meta?

I don't want to face a moderator directly.

Are you the only one that sees it your way?
@bwDraco why not? The mod is held to the mod agreement. He isn't allowed to target you. If you have a valid point, that is
I can't judge that as I'm not a regular on SU
I just happen to have some rep there

Such a picky mod yet fails to provide a satisfactory rationale for many of the decisions he makes.
In fact, that mod election comment may have been trolling on random's part, a big no-no for a moderator.
This is not a statement I take lightly.

You don't explain moderation like it's a rule, it's a feeling
Well, at least give us some background on your approach.
It doesn't hurt to put a few words out there about why you moderate this way. Subjective, yes, but mods are supposed to be transparent.

8:41 PM
Let's assume you post on meta and you ask: is there a rationale behind these descisons, and then you sum up a few, and explaining what is bothering you? Worst case the mod will answer it is a feeling and then that answer gets down voted into oblivion. How will that backfire to you?

I'm still rather afraid to bring this up on Meta. I don't want to be seen as rebellious.
I hold most of the mods in very high esteem. It's this one mod that really gets on my nerves.
I'm afraid I might get unilaterally suspended.

@bwDraco No, why would that be?
You can bring it up, you'll only get suspended if the answer is: nothing is wrong and you're the only one that doesn't get that and keep pushing that mod
@bwDraco mods are humans, they are failable
you could chat to one of the other mods, to see of there is merit in your observation

user202362
The best way to treat a dumb mod is to show the mod your claws, then trick the mod to voluntarily jump into a puddle of mud - that tactic works every single time >_<

user202362
that should be only used as a defense mechanism though ...
