How to flag? I went with VLQ.

depends on whether your pan is damp of course @_@

For a question that presents 2 alternatives, 14 answers seems too many.

easy questions seem to gather more answers as always

Robert Cartaino comments on Code Review in passing:

A: Why is essay review closed but neither code or math reviews

Robert CartainoCode review was from another era where even Jeff Atwood said it didn't really fit our model, but the sheer size of our audience and experience that went into it gave them the collateral to give it a shot. Even today, it still does not fit our model and it always seems to <air-quotes> "break" how ...

user315433
How do you use air-quotes when typing?

Domestic Chores

Proposed Q&A site for learning how to do chores such as laundry, washing up, cleaning etc. correctly and efficiently.

Currently in definition.

lol

> Folks who currently make up the Stack Exchange network seem to have run out of subjects to talk about

What has the world come to when an entire Q&A forum is needed for basic chores ._.
Like, I get it, cleaning a cast iron skillet isn't common knowledge, but washing clothes is pretty straight forward.

> Folks who currently make up the Stack Exchange network seem to have run out of subjects to talk about
the only decent proposals that come out of Area 51 anymore are the "Stack Overflow in x language" ones
probably why Robert and the other CMs don't want to bother updating A51

user315433
SO in X have all been closed (or launched) except Turkish, which is left in limbo.

Q: Issues with lack of transparency on the part of a certain moderator

bwDracoBefore you respond, I'd like to emphasize that the moderator in question has a long history of working to keep Super User tidy and I must acknowledge that. I really don't like complaining about any particular person, especially a moderator, but I'm getting really tired of it. random tends to be ...

I've just about had enough.

user315433
It looks okay. You can take a walk now that it's posted.

user315433
Folks will need some time to digest it.

A: Why is essay review closed but neither code or math reviews

MastI think Robert wrote a very good answer already, but since you mentioned Code Review I wanted to give you the perspective of a regular from that site as well. Code Review was almost an inevitable next-step after Stack Overflow. Stack Overflow helps you get code working, Code Review helps you red...

@gwr He's talking about the meta post @bwDraco just posted

gwr
@404 There actually have been decent proposals recently on A51...

user315433
Speaking from the experience of posting a few disagreeable things on meta.Math. Rapid exchange in comments doesn't lead anywhere good. My approach is to post and ignore pings from that direction for a while. Then read a few hours later.

gwr
@404 There is certainly wisdom in what you say. While quick voting also may not be a solution?
@404 Actually I was looking for @ShadowWizard.

user315433
It's near midnight in Israel. Try in 9 hours or so.

user315433
Could you elaborate on specifically why Code Review isn't right for the Stack Exchange model (e.g. lack of revenue-generating opportunities, inappropriate awarding of fake Internet points, poor ratio of knowledge relative to disk space, dilution of the Stack Exchange brand, …)? — 200_success 1 min ago

@404 Thanks, that is +1 hour my time. So sleep over it.

If it's not really spam, don't flag it as such! by RolandiXor on meta.elementaryos.stackexchange.com I think this is not about us, we didn't have a report from eOS in two months

user315433
Aviation.SE also has an election now, there are three in total.

user315433
I gave on edit-farming 150 rep on that site, there is not much to edit. Apparently, piloting aircraft correlates positively with being careful in writing.

9:59 PM
I don't think I could go for a Moderator position (even on an under staffed site) unless I was an actual contributor

@404 There's one answerer in particular whose posts could do with six commas added; they always seem breathless when I read them. But yes, posts are at a generally high standard.

user315433
@Quill 150 rep is to vote in election. I'm not going to run anywhere. (300 is required to run).

ohlol

Do you try to vote in every mod election?

user315433
Yes, everywhere where I can farm 150 points in reasonable time.

user315433
10:02 PM
Well, 101 comes from the bonus, so it's really just 25 suggested edits.

user315433
Voted on 14 sites so far: Mathematics, Stack Overflow, Stack Overflow in Russian, Software Recommendations, Graphic Design, Magento, Security, Signal Processing, Chemistry, DBA, Cryptography, Blender, Computer Science, Statistics

I thought you voted in the Code Review election as well?

user315433
No, I haven't.

user315433
Your site doesn't have much for me to edit, apparently.

ah, okay

10:15 PM
I think we need a broader discussion on this. I don't feel comfortable about random's moderation decisions.

user315433
Meta is supposed to achieve that.

Fog Creek has been building an easy-to-use web development tool codenamed HyperWeb. Sign up for the beta http://goo.gl/forms/jE9JdS0KdR

> Welcome to your own custom piece of the Internet. HyperWeb gets you straight to developing real web apps in a fast, fun, and collaborative way. It's a development platform that enables you to focus on the true creative work in your project, writing code, by removing the rest of the barriers to building software on the web.
So another thingy to "make" you "able" to create a "webapp"?

user315433
Well, I signed up. Not a professional coder, but I do like to tinker with JS and make webappy thingies.

user315433
"Welcome to your own custom piece of the Internet" sounds like zombo.com

10:22 PM
@gwr I am here, but I also posted in "your" room, did you see it?
@404 true, but I still have one hour before light off... ;)
(and yes, it gives me ~5 hours sleep)

user315433
Well, what can we do when so many people are being wrong on the Internet every day..

@404 You can go to bed. Best solution ever.

What, I'm still Normal Human on Area 51? That site is a mess.

An idea: search for questions where the top answer contains the word "semicolon" in the first sentence, close as OT/typo.

10:31 PM
OT?

user315433
Off-Topic: This question was caused by a problem that can no longer be reproduced or a simple typographical error.

ohrite
I should probably sleep more

@404 I've started going through the questions with 4 votes for typographical error and making sure the actual typo ones get closed.

Having tag filter in CV review is great. Being unable to bookmark it, not so much.

There's a reason why we have SEDE... :P

@404 Not if you get to it early. i.e. now. :)

Here's one of the reasons I brought up this complaint:

Q: Is it okay to begin tag wiki excerpts with "for questions about..." or "a/an", or are such words noise?

bwDracoI've suggested many tag wiki and excerpt edits lately. While most of them were approved, a particular moderator rejected or edited a few of them, stripping out initial words like "for questions about" or "a/an" on the grounds that they are "fluff" and "get in the way". These edits felt jarring an...

@random: They're jarring because they're minor edits that only affect the style of the excerpt, so they seem very nitpicky. — bwDraco Dec 16 '14 at 21:31

In any case, I've got work to do, so I'll be back in a bit.

Stack Overflow is somewhat unique in that we encourage participation of essentially anonymous, random programmers. Our idea is to radically reduce the bar for participation, and take one giant leap of faith:
