I like my hammer. It's nice to be able to instantly close an off-topic post, especially at times when the site isn't too active.
But the hammer is double-edged: if moderators constantly hammer-close off-topic questions, they never end up in the review queues, and the community gets "trained" to ...
@Shog9 let's phrase it this way: you are the highest ranking SE employee that is available to us, mortals, no? In chat, and in MSE. (I don't think the actual managers go over MSE too much)
> Josh "Shog9" Heyer, Stack Overflow user #811, has overall responsibility for Q&A quality and will be the public face of the company on metas. As such he's the closest we have to an "ultimate authority". Since he's usually right, I recommend listening to him.

I’ve been suspended for 365 (!!!) days from “Science Fiction and Fantasy” and I am past dumbfounded. I kindly request this suspension be removed.
I previously posted about improving the user suspension message I received when I was suspended for 7 days on “Science Fiction & Fantasy.” I was happy...
@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. Appears to be a unilateral mod decision made without warning or discussion (neither with JakeGould nor with other mods). The mod in question may need to be warned by the SE team.
@bwDraco You aren't helping. You do not know the mod's reasons and you are getting one side of the story. Saying that it's an abuse and suspicious circumstances is not helpful.
@Andy As I said, this needs investigation. I can't really help here, anyway. Another mod would need to investigate this case to get all the facts. Something is telling me that not all the facts have been presented but we can't say for sure until a mod comes forward.
@MadScientist “Why are you going through old comments and deleting them in the first place?” Because while the vast majority of the SE network places low value on comments, SFF:SE seems to treat comments as content. And I just don’t want to participate with content in that way. Thus my decision to delete the comments. — JakeGould32 mins ago
Hmm... might be an oddity with the way that site is governed.
I don't have much experience with Science Fiction & Fantasy but I can certainly say that on my main site Super User, comments are supposed to be second-class citizens.

"Why does this do this?" is a debugging question, "How can I do this?" is not a debugging question, and as long as it is narrowly scoped clear and on-topic, it does not require code at all. Saying that this site is debugging centric is false at best, actively harmful at worst. And everyone was a beginner at some point, so there is no real way to tell if the asker of a great question was a beginner when they asked the question. Honestly, if you only ever want to answer debugging questions, that is up to you. But please don't mislead users into thinking those are the only questions we accept. @b — Tiny Giant2 hours ago
