Q: Reduce the number of close votes required to close a question

The close queue is massive - sliding in to 120K - and growing. Clearly, the process is broken. Why not just reduce the number of votes required to close a question? Why must be 5 close votes? Why not 3, or even 2? Why will reducing it lead to significantly different results? What precisely, wi...

I honestly don't get why people care that much about the close vote queue size.

It's just a queue, there is no harm in having questions there - it's not like the other queues where you have a big quality problem if those questions remain unattended.

Most of it is questions that are unlikely to get answers or attention anyway.

even when we didn't advertise it, there were way too many people and it was way too hard to get all of the candidates into just a couple of different sessions.

so a lot of folks ended up just answering later on anyway
