Who is running @Pham?

Uni

ok
why isn't @uni sleeping? :D

5:47 PM
@InfiniteRecursion I'm rescuing a project, but I just made an agreement to fix this by tomorrow, so I can sleep now! :)

@gunr2171 Sam is on a holiday. I'm running Pham atm.

Yeah, that is correct.

Nice, I almost guessed it. Uni is Sam's friend, so he has highest chance of having Pham's login

wat
And I thought >100 on NotDoorknob was a lot... :P

5:49 PM
@InfiniteRecursion I also happened to have an old, rusty Windows laptop, which worked to running Pham.

6:21 PM
@bjb568 eh?

When you get bigger, you become more stable and predictable.

sure, but still unpredictable to a person
especially if there are rocks and such

… how?

too tired to think about physicsy things :P
gtg cya

depends on the shape of the object, size doesn't matter, center of gravity does. Big size != more stable

6:24 PM
^ yeah that

you scared our snowman @bjb :(

:P

user259867
Bigger size => greater momentum => more difficult to change the track.

Yeah, so if you know its current velocity, you basically know its velocity in 1 second. And you know where it'll be in 1 second.
Just got steward in CVs on SO.

user259867
And pirate hat, most importantly.

6:27 PM
Yes.

momentum depends on mass, less mass + big size changes track easily. Also depends on the gravitational factor. In a lower gravity environment like water, bigger size != difficult to change track

Is there a way to prevent spam if you are sure it will com from a specific user, or do we have we to wait until he posts spam? The answer with canbabanakliyat ankara nakliyat found by pham is gone and there is now way to flag it as spam, I'd expect posts on serverfault,stackoverflow and webapps

Ah, Pham just went home though.

@InfiniteRecursion meeee ? you did the good job

@ProgramFOX yes :D

@bummi Thanks :) You told everyone not to pile meta effect, which was very kind of you
@TGMCians but uni didn't sleep yet

But Uni already said "Night".

@InfiniteRecursion meanwhile I know how to do better, thanks for being exemplary

:D
New Tavern tasks: waking up bjb and putting uni to sleep

user259867
This is a problem similar to using symmetric delimiters for something. One can't tell "Night!" as in "going to sleep", from "Night!" as a response to that. Better syntax is needed... !thgiN

You are becoming bjb-ish @Behaviour
Volume needs adjustment. It should be... !THGIN

@rene Mine's the only nomination with no comments. I don't know what that means.
Actually the guy I nominated also has no comments.

@Frank the comments are so rude, even Community flags them....

I was glad to see that Zach picked up. I really wanted him on the team.

ah @uni.

@Frank how many seats do they have?

@rene I think 3. That's what it usually is.
I also like Matt S.
He is one I know from other sites. Quite a sterling fellow.

And the top 3 voted make it?

@michaelpri The community team looks over all of them. It's not solely based on upvotes, but more on the merits of the users themselves. — Undo the Snowman 21 hours ago
They do of course look at the votes as well.

8:28 PM
Hmmm, hope they get it right...
But it seems the only logical way

Get what right?

choose the correct mods

It doesn't seem like a right/wrong thing here.
Most of the folks nominated would make ok mods imo
most is the keyword there tho

It is all about building up the site and its community. Get it wrong now and you might not have a second chance to fix it.
You either attract the wrong crowd or annoy good willing members

Matt S. didn't accept his nomination yet, he wants to think about it for a while.
@rene I'm not easily annoyed.

gn66I've made a script that re-size my website with some ratio: 'rat'. A: Why was my post edited for "spam"?

BraiamLets put it in a simple term: Can the asker solve his problem just by reading the text contained in your answer and nothing else? (people call this self-contained answers) If it's, just leave the link out, or better yet, just copy over the material (which I presume you own) and leave a copy her...

" you linked to paid content that you are profiting from. This is the definition of spam" -- hell no
"Answers must be self-contained, i.e., they can't rely on third-party resources to be helpful." -- this much is true

@JanDvorak I changed it to "This is one definition of spam". Is that better, or could it still be improved?

10:17 PM
I still don't agree
Linking to own commercial material is allowed if disclosed, relevant and useful. Basically, see the meta post linked by OP. — Jan Dvorak 2 mins ago

My profile has a link to something I profit from, that's not spam.
(profiles are a little different, but still)

@UndotheSnowman You could do whatever you want with your profile -- questions and answers are to ask things and answer them, respectively

Q: Formula to convert 1 to 5... to 5 to 1

user1405195Is there a single formula to convert the following? And would it be based on reciprocals? 1 to 5 2 to 4 3 to 3 4 to 2 5 to 1 Ideally, I'd like to convert 0 to 5 1 to 4 2 to 3 3 to 2 4 to 1 but I'm guessing the 0 makes that impossible.

weeps

A: What different Stack Exchange apps exist for iOS?

Undo the SnowmanI currently use Stackboard, a universal iOS SE client that I wrote with a habit for being shiny: It's live on the App Store here.

^ Is dat spam?

Is tthat useful to the general public?

10:20 PM
Yep
well, a subset thereof

Then it's fine

user259867
@UndotheSnowman It answers the question, and discloses affiliation upfront. Not spam.

(fwiw I'm on your side @Jan)

@UndotheSnowman I think that's fine.
@Behaviour Exactly

So we need to add some conditions to that definition
Like, 'unsolicited' or something like that

10:22 PM
Which definition? Mine, Mooseman's, the one linked by asker?

user259867
I think "not useful" in the flag definition covers this. If it's not answering the question, it's not useful, but promotional.

@JanDvorak The "linking-to-things-you-profit-from" one

user259867
Where is that linking definition?

So... the Moose's one. I agree that needs to be changed

user259867
How to not be a spammer is pretty well written, and is in official docs.

What about s/you are profiting from/only you are profiting from/ ?

Only I profit from Stackboard sales.
(well except maybe Apple)

The users profit non-monetarily by using the app

true, but that's kind of obscure
I like "not useful or relevant, but promotional"

true
I do like the "Answers must be self-contained, i.e., they can't rely on third-party resources to be helpful." part, though

10:27 PM
Although sometimes you have to rely on at least GitHub being up, unless you want to copy-paste a whole repository.
So it's the right spirit, but taken literally it breaks stuff

user259867
Some questions are about third-party resources. Not all SE sites consider those off-topic.

user259867
Not just SR. Plenty of book recommendations / website recommendations on Math.

Math.se sucks

user259867
And the question to which Undo linked (his answer) is on Apple.SE. It asks "What different Stack Exchange apps exist for iOS?"

user259867
10:30 PM
It's more like SO is one of exceptions disallowing those.

I'm pretty sure PPCG disallows them, too

user259867
Either way, you die. In the long run at least.

One question would be if we would have flagged it as spam. With some waiting for more answers it might have been enough for an other flag, or with a bit waiting for making him a mistake, leaving out the disclosure and posting just nearly a link only, it would have fitted for a spam flag. All in all it's time to get a discussion about this.
