Q: How can I tell if a plant given to me is patented?

J. MusserSometimes, I receive an unlabeled plant start from a friend, and they do not know if it is patented. If I want to grow and sell a plant in question, is it okay to just take the chance, or is there a way to find patents?

^People can't seem to tell that this is a theoretical question.
@lostsock really?

@lostsock Yup.

@Braiam :)
@Frank i upvoted
@lostsock Ah. I didn't.
maybe you could ask on patents.SE , that site is really struggling
@lostsock You don't have an account on GL.

But it is registered in SE. I remember I can see it on SEDE

@Frank whoops, use 3808 for the question ID

Hyperion is the name of a coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) in Northern California that was measured at 379.3 feet (115.61 m), which ranks it as the world's tallest known living tree. Despite its great height, Hyperion is not the largest known coast redwood; that distinction belongs to the Lost Monarch tree (based on trunk volume). == Overview == Hyperion was discovered August 25, 2006, by naturalists Chris Atkins and Michael Taylor. The tree was verified as standing 379.1 feet (115.55 m) tall by Stephen Sillett. The tree was found in a remote area of Redwood National and State Parks purchased...
@lostsock Yup. And here's the world's biggest (volume)
The General Sherman is a giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) tree located in the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park in Tulare County, in the U.S. state of California. By volume, it is the largest known living single stem tree on earth. The General Sherman Tree is neither the tallest known living tree on Earth (that distinction belongs to the Hyperion tree, a Coast redwood), nor is it the widest (both the largest cypress and largest baobab have a greater diameter), nor is it the oldest known living tree on Earth (that distinction belongs to a Great Basin bristlecone pine). With a height...

Is it right to edit an answer from being wrong to being right? Or is this "fundamentally changing the intent"? stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/5990453
according to the link there should be '+' instead of '-'
Right - so this edit is OK because the original intent was to match the link eh?
Thx
user259867
06:10
But in the link they do +Math.abs()
user259867
The value is negative. Subtracting a negative value is the same as adding its absolute value.
This is where it gets into troublesome territory: now we're assessing whether the edit is technically correct or not.
even in answer user do - Math.abs()
user259867
I think the edit makes the post worse. As originally written, it's more or less clear: you subtract signalLevel because higher level corresponds to smaller distances.
That says to me "if there's a doubt that this edit maintains technical integrity then reject it"
(In this case I just skipped over, but I'm curious about what's right)
06:12
I did the math by hand, it should be minus
wait...
waiting mode activated
I think the question here trascends whether it should be +or - ;)
user259867
When correctness is unclear, an option may be to reject but keep the contents of the edit, posting as a comment to the author (with attribution).
I like that one, M. Bear.
Actually, the edit suggestion was correct; it should be +. But it's quite dangerous to suggest an edit without commenting/clarifying it first, so rejection would be suitable. Otherwise, just use your skip.

Answer to question in title: Yes, but it's stupid. Look at a cat's teeth, they are not the teeth of a herbivore. They are the teeth of a carnivore. If the very first step in the animals digestive system is designed for meat you can bet that the rest of their digestive system is designed for... wait for it... MEAT! — ryan Oct 8 at 16:02

Random fact: When shown the skull of a panda, but not told what it was, most scientists guessed or were certain it was from a carnivore, by looking at the teeth. however, these teeth are designed for eating bamboo.
