Have I mentioned how terrible Connect's documentation is?
Each method of the middleware only gets one or two snippets of code with a sentence describing what it does. I think I'll be better off reading the source code

hmm I can't edit comments on the mobile site on android (2.1) now that the comments have permalinks
I just can't manage to press edit no matter where I tap

@awoodland yeah, android browser has an awful behavior with regards to hit areas; I've noticed it myself. Some of our JS already has ugly hacks to work around that; I'll try and see if I can extend that to the edit links.
workaround: zoom in far enough so the browser has no chance of confusing the tap

it seems like there's some really lazy approximation of the bounding boxes
anyone with mod powers on chat.so care to look at jsoldi - chat.stackoverflow.com/rooms/549/bin ?
21 flags so far, but not enough on any 1 message to validate

@awoodland Oh my god this guy.

last I saw he got a 4 hour ban

He thought the C++ chat room was a good audience for his rants about American foreign policy?

Anonymous
I don't even understand how that could happen.

I don't think there's even any Americans in there at this time of day

Anonymous
@awoodland His profile says he's American. -_- I'm so confused.

9:36 AM
@JeremyBanksʬʬʬ yeah I didn't quite get that. I think he's just a professional troll

Anonymous
@awoodland Heh, I wouldn't think he'd want to risk a ban. (209 questions / 29 answers)

I don't think he understands how the internet works :)

Huh, some people...

Can anybody remember which close reasons will get the question an automatic downvote?

I didn't know anything other than spam and offensive flags did that

When a question is closed with certain close reasons it'll get an automatic downvote from Community

Booo, hit a rate-limit on the stackdata API...

@ircmaxell: ooo posting in every chat room :D

yup
I came here since I know SO staff tends to hang out here

:o a unicorn!

Not only SO staff but also the SO maniacs. :P

5:23 PM
You feel more special if SO staff reply though
makes it that much more of an official response

no, but just to let them know
I think I have a feature request for the API

Oh? Improving the rate limit?

no, making so that I don't need to hit the rate limit

rofl stupid IDM tried to catch the MP3 rather than letting the browser play it -.-

basically, I'm calling the users/{id}/timeline API, but I need the full details of the post. SO I need to re-call the questions/{id}, answers/{id} and comments/{id} calls for every single entry... So that's a lot of calls (fetching 100 posts takes 101 calls, instead of 1)...

5:30 PM
ahhh
so basically have them include all that information in one call inside an <entries> or whatever

yup
{
  "error": {
    "code": 4004,
    "message": "This IP has exceeded the request-per-day limit."

Google Picasa API used to irritate me because they didn't include random details about things

@awoodland It looks like a mod saw those flags; it's now a 90 day suspension from SO.

Q: Include Full Post Details In /users/{id}/timeline

ircmaxellI have a feature request. I'm trying to pull the recent activity about a user from the API. So I'm parsing /users/{id}/timeline. But that only gives me meta-information about the activity. So then, for each result I need to re-call the /questions/{id}, /answers/{id} and /comments/{id} calls t...

@ircmaxell: That was my first upvote ever on Stack Apps! Use it wisely o.o

haha
Oh wait :o I guess it was my 2nd vote ever. Sorry it's not as special :(

I remember a question where it was explained that a flag's type is determined by its text, so manually typing in a flag like "not constructive" would be the same as selecting it from the predefined flag reasons.

But I've searched and I can't find it...

Q: Is typing out a canned flag reason equivalent to selecting it?

lunboksIf I type out a pre-existing flag reason in the it needs ♦ moderator attention → other field, does it behave as if I had cast that type of flag? For example: If I flag an answer and type out "not an answer" in the reason field, is it treated as a normal NAA flag (e.g., shown to 10k+ ...

I remember that too. But at the time people ask these things you never think "this'll be asked again, I should save it"

Any searches containing "flag" are flooded with posts by people complaining about declined flags; it's difficult to find what you actually want. -_-

I wouldn't expect any less :D

Anonymous
I ended up finding it in the chat log; I searched once I remembered somebody posting it here.

It's always surprisingly hard to find things on meta
Like the other day I was trying to find the "canonical" answer to the "why can't I just see my interesting flags" question

6:18 PM
Can you imagine what SO would be like if we didn't remove all the meta things from posts? o.o
It'd be like... Google

@animuson what do you mean by meta "things"?

Tags, silly meaningless phrases in titles. You know, the standard edits you make on a daily basis

Yeah, true
Stack Overflow is a great example of why programmers need to learn to write, too :)

I iz mashter of riteing

For a moment I searched for the edit button on that

6:28 PM
Do you edit abbreviates? I always change FF to Firefox, and FB to Facebook. The abbreviations irritate me

I won't edit a post just to fix an abbreviation
But I will definitely expand them if I find other errors in a post

What is Happy Hour? o.o Why is there no description for the event? lol

Happy hour is a marketing term for a period of time in which a restaurant or bar offers discounts on alcoholic drinks, such as beer, wine, and cocktails. Basic information Typically, it is in the late afternoon Monday through Thursday, usually taking place at some period between 4 PM and 8 PM. Many bars also have a late night happy hour for afternoon shift workers from 10 PM-1 AM. This promotion is intended to boost business on what may otherwise be a slow day. In most cases the "happy hour" lasts longer than a single hour. The term also is commonly used to describe the gathering of...

@animuson I don't understand what it's all about, either :)

I'm not 21 though

@JeremyBanksʬʬʬ Specifically as it applies to the Tavern
@animuson That's only a problem in some countries

@Chris You mean Tim hasn't told you about the SE Tavern ale-by-mail system?

The Unicorn WhispererI don't understand the problem. Who said that you have to clutter the screen up with a list of sites? I would propose that the list contains the current five items and add one more site which should be guessed based on the tags and some question content matching. Because that isn't a guarantee t...

Q: Not user-friendly message when trying to edit post with pending suggested editions

Mosty MostachoI just tried to edit a post in stackoverflow and got the following message: There is a pending suggested edit in the queue, try again in a few minutes. First of all, I understand the message. However, I don't think the way it is displayed is the most appropiate one. Actually, once I clicked on...

Huh?

Eh, I don't think the edit link checks to see if other edits (or suggested edits) have been submitted between the time you load the page and the time you click the edit button.

What about this? meta.stackoverflow.com/a/120865/177768 Now andrew is getting serial downvoted?
How does one report these types of things?

Wha?

See?

Where is he being serially down voted?
Ah, on Stack Overflow

There's only 4 but it got me thinking.
Was that a serial downvote attempt but the heuristic caught it? Why would someone downvote 4 posts for seemingly no reason (comment wise).

Usually the best thing to do is either ignore it, or wait to see if the voting fraud detection script catches it. If not, the person who has been down voted can flag one of their posts to bring the issue to moderator attention...I'm not sure if this is the recommended action, but there's a few posts on Meta about this somewhere.
@Matthew I'm actually not entirely sure why this particular person down voted him, hmm..
It's possible that they were just browsing through his answers and found something disagreeable. shrugs
