i'm having 2.8Mb heap memory from 2.7 have been allocated and beyond 1Mb app is getting crash

so there would something to manage the memory in android

in ios i usually release the objects after usage of particular object

If I had to do something for this, I would make storeToFile() functions in my objects to back them up, delete them and call gc()

so at this point you're sure the release object will be freed for sure

since there is not more reference to it

then, you'll have to get a manager class to restore it when you need it

like if person streaming audio files and jumps to video streaming then i want to release the object of audio streaming

but user can come back to audio streaming then i want to release object of video streaming

@ManjotSingh you don't have to answer Android questions necessarily. If I got you right you were developing for iOS for two years, you can try to answer iOS questions for example.

oh then you have the same problem I have with almost 90% of the Android questions because most of them are just a matter of using Google and the API documentation

nope I feel giving your app extra memory is not the OS's problem, your application is not a princess to be given special privileges. Instead respect what resources you have. Its not a PC that you are using.

well there are two solutions. 1) Keep on complaining and whining about the heap size being not enough or 2) improve your application design to not run into memory issues. As I said before, I haven't heard of any way to increase the heap size manually which is also not what you should do. You are searching in the wrong place.

no there is no way of releasing an object in Java. You have to think of the GC as being some kind of unicorn that only comes along when it feels like doing so or when you do something which you shouldn't do

build and analyse is a command so for writing tool

the last part is especially valid for Android. You don't want to have the GC always start cleaning up since that also consumes resources

i am quite sure there would something to clean the memory

i was also thinking to call GC is not good approach

@ManjotSingh As I told you before and you told me I was wrong the problem is that you have a memory leak. Yes you can have memory leaks with managed memory. It is not that it gets "lost", the problem is you think you free it but you don't.

Indeed. I just had this conversation with @Sathya a few hours ago. There's a reason Android apps are less polished than iOS apps. Apple provides UIKit, but I don't know how legal it is to port it verbatim to Android.

there is two problems with this answer. 1) It is way too short. You didn't point out why this would work and 2) that line is pretty much 100% the same as the one in the question
