Is this question off topic?

Title could be more descriptive

Heh, this question got the attention of Jon Skeet and Dave DeLong.
(Dave is an Apple frameworks engineer. Jon needs little introduction.)

4:37 AM
You do know that Skeet is writing a major datetime library right?

Is it ok to flag something and request for a previous flag to be ignored? What I mean is, I flagged stackoverflow.com/questions/8199540/… as not an answer b/c it was just 1 question that should have been a comment, but then the answer was edited to include more, nullifying my flag..
And now I see the original flag has been handled, ignore my last message :)

6:11 AM
But I guess for future reference, what would be quicker/make life easier for a mod: to see a flag that says another pending flag can be ignored, or no second flag b/c it is still just 1 more flag in the queue creating extra work (even though it might make the first flag a quick one)?

6:30 AM
we see all the flags on screen at one time for a given post
so one saying "ignore my previous please" is likely to get seen at the same time

I don't think you can flag the same post twice

I thought they revoked that restriction

I raised a second flag on a post one month ago.

but two flags concurrently?

oh, I misunderstood. No.

How do you change your question to community wiki?

10:16 AM
@ServAce85 flag for a mod
or get ~30 people to answer it

12:30 PM
@jcole nope, didn't know that. Where can I learn more?

@chown As it is, that question is not helpful for the future readers. It is not clear for which reason the code was not working, as the shown code is not the used one. (That is what I understand from what the OP says.)
@Moshe This answer reports when a question is converted to CW.
> The question generates more than 30 answers (15 on Super User). In this case, the question and all answers will enter community mode, as will any future answers.
> The body of the post has been edited by at least five (5) different users.
> The post has been edited ten (10) times by the original owner.

@kiamlaluno No, I was asking about Skeet's library.

Oh.

Silly me: When I hovered your post, the highlighted post was, "or get ~30 people to answer it."
Isn't there a block that doesn't allow to post an answer with just code?
I wonder why many users forget to use the definite article.

6:01 PM
@kiamlaluno I'm not sure why it did that, I replied on a mobile device, that highlighting shouldn't have happened.

@Moshe It is because you used the @-reference. In that case, the highlighted post is the previous one from that user.
@Moshe If I reply to a message using the popup menu, then the right post is highlighted, as in this case.
(It's good I was still in time to edit it.)

@kiamlaluno Posts should only highlight if I use the arrow on the side, or directly type in a message ID. I did neither of those before.

@Moshe It highlights when I hover the mouse on the post containing the @-reference.
If I want to see to which post you are replying, I hover the mouse over your post. It's just that in the case of the @-reference, it highlights the last post of the user.
@Moshe This is what I saw when I hovered your message.

6:41 PM
I saw that as well, but it's not the expected behavior, in my opinion.

@Moshe In some way, it is. As you are not referring to a specific message, the chat highlights the only plausible message it can find, as it is not able to analyze the context.

How are you just now hearing about this?
I'm revoking your nerd card

I've heard of it before.
I just didn't realize how real it was.
This reminds me of Steve Jobs' control tendencies. He was involved in both the tech and the entertainment industry.

Just so we're clear, pulling your arm away form an officer who is trying to force you to be pepper sprayed, and curling into a fetal position to protect your face while the officer is trying to pepper spray you, are both reasons for the cop to use his baton to beat you.

Hush, you! I retreat into the abstract world of programming to get away from the terrible reality of politics/etc.. >_>
