My request is simple: Many times, there will be a question where some people feel like it should be closed. At the same time, I'll feel like it's a perfectly...
Was thinking about it the other day though. I hate closing questions. It's cumbersome, slow, and even more cumbersome and slow to undo.
But it's all we've got.
Originally, closing was fast, and just as fast to undo. A new user shows up on the site, posts something unreadable, no problemo - you close it & edit or ask for clarification. When it comes, you re-open. It worked great - and then a handful of folks ruined it for everyone.
That's the trouble though, the lag... By the time you get through the cycle, the question has already dropped off the first page of questions. Yeah, it gets bumped - briefly - and will show up longer in niche tags... but it's still a waste.
Maybe the third is more 'correct'...? There was a question (on meta, I believe) about this the other day wrt to SO - that the 'view modifiers' should be in the query string
there's likely to be a theme parameter added at some point in addition to the format parameter. a nobeta parameter was suggested also...so parameters may become plentiful, heh.
Wikipedia, when browsed via the Wii's Internet Channel, has a nice large font view. I'd like to be able to browse Gaming.SE from a Wii in a similar fashion, too. @badp, honestly, I'm not sure if a file extension can be used as a parameter like that. I will check though. Assuming I add themes, how would you expect that represented in the url?
I'm a little worried about the number of parameters (and these are just what I'm thinking about now!): format, theme, nobeta, option to just use 1 site, maybe allow for a larger size...
Not really the size of the querystring as I'm not really close to that at all...but if I use /option1/option2/option3.format then parameters become required rather than optional
I know in PHP I have URLs like /option1.val1/option2.val2/option3.val3/, so I can say for example: /imageType.png/imageSize.300x300/bgcolor.ff0000/, or: `/imageType.png/bgcolor.ff0000/`for a default imageSize
but it's a custom built framework which understands such URLs because I taught it to...

@PopularDemand They come and go. The "auto comment when closing as duplicate" thing also breaks intermittently. I haven't been able (or particularly willing) to find a good way of reproducing these though.

There are so many good examples, but if I had to pick two (for example, if SO was a proposal on A51) it'd be something like that: very broad and very narrow
There is a 'close for duplicate' loop hitting these missing profile questions, I'm lost on which one is the true original. Definitely looks like SO rolled out something a little too quickly.
