I suggested getting a rovio for each remote worker, with something like that sheldon thing on top (just the correct face). The idea wasn't well-received.
I'm still hoping (perhaps beyond hope) that the UK govt do something decent about "IR35", which is the tax law meaning that they can decide randomly to treat contractor employees under employee tax-codes. The problem being that you pay the tax of an employee, but get none of the legal status/rights of an employee
(it is up for review)
Damned IR35 is why I go via the umbrella-manufacturing-company, rather than direct to SO.
oh and the fact that they take more tax than what i made in a year at my first job ... hmm actually that's a happy thing it means i've moved up in life
@RebeccaChernoff You wanna plan my room too? I've been hesitant to get new furniture because my room is poorly design, heh..so placement is an issue. :P

Yeah. They are such a money machine. They take a third off every dollar the mobile providers make with their premium iPhone plans. On top of what people pay for the device itself. A third.

@Marc yeah, I thought so :) I just thought it a weird coincidence for that user to ask a question right at the moment when we spoke about umbrella corporations. But weird coincidences happen on SO (including two different users asking the selfsame complex and rare question within five minutes from each other)
When I went in to KFC to get a double down, I joked about getting poutine with it. The staff, of course, simply asked whether I wanted one with a straight face. Disturbing.
