you can download "unformat" programs :)

I just want to turn on my radio and hear music I like. (;

Sirius XM Radio, Inc. () is the holding company for two satellite radio services (SDARS) operating in the United States and Canada, Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio. The two parent companies completed their merger (technically the acquisition of XM by Sirius) on July 29, 2008. On February 19, 2007, Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio announced a merger that would combine the two radio services and create a single satellite radio network in the United States. The merger brought the combined companies a total of more than 18.5 million subscribers based on current su...

Q: Looking for greasemonkey script(s) to format numbers (only) in different font

Nam Gi VUI love to see numbers in Georgia font and would love to see them auto-formatted into that font! If you know such tools, please share! ps. I want just numbers to be formatted while other texts remain as-is while surfing the web.

I finished a script for this last night, but haven't tested it yet

@RebeccaChernoff oh hell no, don't you hate when that happens? I was listening to one on the drive into work one morning, got out of the car, had to leave again 45 minutes later, and they were playing spanish. Took me three hours to figure out what had happened. Right in the middle of the regular morning zoo programm too
@RebeccaChernoff That's why the good FSM gave us iPods (or for you non-FSM loving crowd, MP3 players)

FSM?
Hearing/finding new music is half the fun of listening to music. Doesn't happen with music I've already got.

1:08 AM
The Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) is the deity of the parody religion Created in 2005 by Oregon State physics graduate Bobby Henderson, it was originally intended as a satirical protest against the decision by the Kansas State Board of Education to permit the teaching of intelligent design as an alternative to evolution in public schools. In an open letter sent to the Kansas State Board of Education, Henderson parodied the concept of intelligent design by professing belief in a supernatural creator that closely resembles spaghetti and meatballs. Henderson further called for his "Pastafa...

meh, I'm willing to bet they use sside validation too

Interesting
Why would they not assume someone would just use a new tab?

My mother and my uncle do not understand tabs even after I showed them how to use them.

sneaky bastards "yes I would like to receive emails" is opt-out (checked) rather than opt-in (unchecked)
oh this website needs a lot of TLC, and the people who are responsible for it probably get paid by the LOC
"do not include spaces in your credit card number" ... because $('textbox').keypress(function(){ if key-pressed is not numeric, skip }); is terribly hard logic to implement ...
They're already charging a $2.99 delivery fee, should I add more for a tip? Hmmm...

delivery fee != tip

1:24 AM
does it not? since when?
Exactly what does the store need to charge me $2.99 for if not for ensuring the guy gets a tip? If everyone ever only came in for pizza pickup, then they would still need to pay the guy, so the overhead would be in the cost of the pizza, not in the delivery fee. Ergo, either they run a shitty business and will go out of business soon, OR, it's a built-in tip
protip: I always tip the guy at least a fiver, it just pisses me off to be charged a delivery fee when that's the cost of doing business

Yeah, dominos delivery fee is pretty high.

But what does said fee entail?

I don't like them either, especially when a lot of the stores won't give the delivery fees to the drivers

Delivery fee is for things like gas and car maintenance. Drivers usually get something like 75% of the delivery fee.

A LOT of stores don't give them any of it.
It's just profit for the store. A charge for selling you delivery.

1:28 AM
@RebeccaChernoff then the owners/managers are taking liberties with their employees and should be taken to court.
@DanGrossman yeah, but they shouldn't

@drachenstern Erm, huh?

if the delivery fee is intended for maintenance and gas, then they should be giving that to the person doing the delivery, no?

papa johns, pizza hut, dominos, all the same -- drivers say they don't get the delivery fees

@DanGrossman yaya :p

1:29 AM
Either way, it isn't the tip.
Beyond that, I frankly don't really care. >_<

like i said, I always tip the guy at least a fiver
I'm certainly not taking my ass out in this cold weather so I'll probably tip him a tad more

Heh, I just always assume that the delivery guys will get screwed in every way possible, so I make sure to tip them in cash, even when I pay for the food by credit card. :P

Pizza: $5.99, Tax: $0.42, Delivery Fee: $2.99, Tip: $5.00, Pizza to Fee Ratio: 42%

yeah but I only have a $20 :( ... thought about that part after I got home and it was already dark and wah wah wah
I'm gonna see if he has cash on him
(or she... :p)

Though, my local Dominos does not participate in the nationally advertised "Two Medium Pizzas for $5.99 Each" deal.

1:33 AM
that sucks
do they at least do the 555 deal?

no
you wont get a medium pizza for less than $7.99 or something there
they dont take most coupons either

oh that sucks

Tell me, how big is a medium pizza?

> I had my own pizza shop about 13 years ago. A 16" box was 25 cents. A dough ball was 25 cents for ingredients + labor. To cheese that pizza was $2.00. Sauce was about 35 cents. $2.85 back then. I sold it for $8.50.

1:41 AM
This is how Pizza Hut Singapore sells its pizzas - pizzahut.com.sg/hd/pizza.asp
Keep in mind the US$1 to S$1.5 exchange rate, it's still pretty expensive

The world widelife foundation?

WWF is a modification of the open standard PDF format for document exchange endorsed by the World Wide Fund for Nature (also abbreviated WWF) Germany. The WWF format is promoted as being more environmentally friendly than other comparable document exchange formats (e.g. PDF or DOC) since documents in this format are designed to be more difficult to print. The motivation behind the use of the format is to prevent unnecessary printing of documents. The website claims that the file format will be able to be read by most programs that can open ordinary PDF files. At present, the software for...

@drachenstern Saw that one in the HQ, yeah

@TimStone wow
ok you lovely folks, time for going to bed, getting up too damned early

Not to discredit beginners, but I honestly don't remember ever having that kind of question. :/
G'night

there are a lot of rules in modern programming languages that seem pretty obvious to programmers
having said that, a little bit of logical thinking would probably have resolved that question :)

Yeah, that's true.. Heh nods
Nooooooooooo! ;)

surely doesn't know what you're talking about (:

Heheh, good game :)
I definitely need to be more cautious about my earlier plays though, so that I don't get stuck with such a terrible board configuration later on.

yeah, wide open boards definitely help

After I played SUITOR I think the game was like "Here's FBHQ, good luck playing those."

A: Looking for greasemonkey script(s) to format numbers (only) in different font

Yi JiangWhat you're looking for is actually not trivial to accomplish using JavaScript, so I'm not quite sure if anyone out there has done it already. However, since creating one would be an interesting exercise in looking at the inner workings of the DOM, I gave it a shot at creating one: All Numbe...

Something weird is happening... @RebeccaChernoff can you try editing my answer here? When I try to edit it, all of the links are broken - the [1] numbered links are turned into []
Actually, this is happening in all posts I try to edit. Can someone repro this in another browser?

@YiJiang You're not still running that script right? :P
But uh, doesn't seem to be happening to me if I understood what you meant.

@TimStone Werid... that does the trick. But why? It shouldn't affect textarea contents...?
Hmmm... I'll add textarea to the 'ignored node type' list

4:38 AM
But yes, that is one of the weirdest userscripts I've ever written

Heh. And I didn't look to see what might have been the issue, just made an educated guess. ;)
That's a very weird request from the OP. I don't fully follow their train of thought on that one.

@TimStone There is no train of thought - he just said something like "Hmm... won't it be nice if all numbers where displayed the say Georgia displays them? I know, I'll use a userscript!"

Hahah

Given the way Georgia's numerals work, he probably want a font that has... what was it called again? Hang on...
Ah right, this:
Text figures (also known as non-lining, lowercase, old-style, ranging, hanging, billing, or antique figures or numerals) are numerals typeset with varying heights in a fashion that resembles a typical line of running text, hence the name. They are contrasted with lining or titling figures, which are all of consistent height. Design In text figures, the shape and positioning of the numerals vary as those of lowercase letters do. In the most common scheme, 0, 1, and 2 are of x-height, having neither ascenders nor descenders; 6 and 8 have ascenders; and 3, 4, 5, 7, and 9 have descenders...

Ew :P

4:46 AM
@TimStone Eh?

I'm not a huge fan.

@TimStone I actually like them a lot - makes the text that much more typographically interesting

I guess it depends on the setting.
But inserting that haphazardly across the web...eh.

@TimStone True. There are sans-serif font that have this type of numerals, like:
Candara is a humanist sans-serif typeface, which is bundled with Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 7. Candara’s verticals show both entasis and ekstasis on opposite sides of stems, high-branching arcades in the lowercase, large apertures in all open forms, and unique ogee curves on diagonals. The family supports WGL4 character set. OpenType features include automatic ligature sets, numerals (tabular, proportional, oldstyle and lining), numerator, denominator, scientific inferior subscripts, small caps. Candara is featured in the Microsoft ClearType Font Collection, a set of fonts devel...

@YiJiang So...um...what does this have to do with using a web application? In other words, why should I not close it as off-topic? (;

@RebeccaChernoff duh, because he wants the accept points ;) ... I was curious that myself, I would at least migrate it to either SU or SO
@RebeccaChernoff also, good morning.

2:06 PM
(:
Also, desktop notifications are sexy. (:

Yeah, is there any way to put the speaker's name in the notify? Am I missing something there?
@drachenstern test on myself

yesterday, by Rebecca Chernoff
So for anyone using the desktop notifications, do you like the room favicon and room name as titles or should it be the user's gravatar and name displayed? Or should I leave it like it is and just have the message be "name - message"

@RebeccaChernoff then yes
:p

I like having the room in there, but I would like to have the speaker as well

2:09 PM
Did you just answer an "or" question with "yes"? |:

@RebeccaChernoff I did. I do that frequently. Keeps the ole logic circuits churning in people's heads.
Also annoys the crap outta some people ;)

I see it annoys you too then :(

So was that a yes for "name - message"?

I believe so. You could also do room - speaker in the title of the notification

2:11 PM
Hmm, not sure it matters to me.

Is the width of that box determined by the system or by you?
what if the message is long, who truncates it?

There is no truncation. Chrome wraps the text.

@RebeccaChernoff Ah, you're here. Right, I've got a solution to the multiple notification right at the start of page load problem

Since some chatrooms may have long titles, I would say go with speaker: message ... is there anyway for you to truncate the name portion of the text? Would that be too much trouble? Because the whole point of a notification is that it's to me so I don't need to see my name in there. Sort of how they do it on the sidebar.

Uh, not sure I'd say it is a problem, but ok...
Your name may not always be at the start though and if it @drachenstern is in the middle, taking that out would be a bit weird.

2:15 PM
You can catch the removal of the loading... screen with the DOMNodeRemoved event
window.document.body.addEventListener('DOMNodeRemoved', function(event){
	// Watch for the removal of the loading screen
	if(event.target.id === 'loading'){

@YiJiang not sure I see how this is relevant?

Oh good point. Ok, so I still like it as a business rule tho, if @drachenstern is in the head of the message, remove it, otherwise leave it in ... just my $0.05, not that I'm right.

@RebeccaChernoff That signals the point at which all previous messages have been loaded

@YiJiang she doesn't see that it exists as a problem. Not sure that I do either. Something may have been mentioned in reply to me since I left.

@drachenstern Create an issue on github to put it on record.

2:16 PM
Aye aye captain

@YiJiang Ok...but that isn't relevant.

@RebeccaChernoff umm... I should "Create Issue"???

@RebeccaChernoff You can initialize the livequery bit after that event callback to get it to notify for only new messages

@YiJiang, a feature of the livequery plugin is that it matches existing elements as well as new elements.
So it isn't a simple matter of when the livequery is called.

@RebeccaChernoff Hmmm...?

2:18 PM
It would require more logic, using DOMNodeRemoved and a flag, yes. Like I said, just not sure it's a big deal.

@RebeccaChernoff Right. Just letting ya know, if you want to "fix" it

Oh. Well I know. I've thought about it. Just don't see it as a big deal. But now I know again I guess? Heh. (;
@drachenstern yes

working it, almost done. kthxbai

So @YiJiang, how is that userscript question on topic for WA? |:

@RebeccaChernoff Erm... I dunno. You want to move it to SU?

2:22 PM
two tickets entered

Not sure it belongs on SU. But I don't see how it is a question about using a web application.
Heh, something I said a bunch at my old job fits here.

Do you have any precedence for this?

@RebeccaChernoff "oy"? ;) :p

We supported the internal web apps that we developed. But people would ask us random questions about anything related to the internet.

@YiJiang isn't it a virgin site? shouldn't she be setting precedent?

2:23 PM
> We don't support the whole internet.

Srikanth PurmaAs I am very new to CMS so Please help us open source CMS (preferable in Java) that can export the conetents as static html.

@YiJiang Because there isn't really a clear guideline, hell, even a muddled guideline set through precedence. And I know. I've been trying to be more proactive about it. ):
Really, the community needs to get involved though. If you can't vote to close, flag for mod attention.

@RebeccaChernoff Oh come on, CMS is server-side tech, surely that one is clear enough?

I didn't mean specifically that question.

@RebeccaChernoff There's that faq question on MSO that says that if you want something done but do not have enough rep for it do not flag for mod attention (?)

What @TimStone said. (;
@YiJiang Link please?

@YiJiang how did FHCs escape this list?

@YiJiang Right, but @RebeccaChernoff is mod there, so being backward is entirely acceptable.

Pfft, I'm being serious. I, and I've seen other mods say it, think that flagging if you can't vote to close is great. Maybe a difference between SO and new SE2.0 sites.

grrr, what's it called when "being a member of the club makes you a member of the club, and one cannot be a member of the club unless one is a member of the club" and I think it starts with an A and it's not the word paradox

WA has 2 non-mods that can VTC. Things cannot get closed without a mod. But that doesn't mean the community can't be involved. I love it when I get a flag indicating a question should be closed. Even if it still shows that I've unilaterally closed a question, at least I know someone agreed with me.

@RebeccaChernoff that's actually a really good point. Shame the system can't reflect that some things aren't unilateral (thinking towards math.SE) ... speaking of, how's that site doing?
last part not directed at RC but at whoever knows

They had their mod elections, new mods are in place, and I think things are running better. Haven't heard anything either direction.

Enjoy your holidays. But remember: the Wheel of Blame awaits.
Why does Sea World have a seafood restaurant? I'm halfway through my fishburger and I realize, Oh my God....I could be eating a slow...

Alright, I have to go out for several driving-filled hours, everyone be good while I'm gone. :P

@mootinator I was just curious where you were
@TimStone maybe :p
be safe nonetheless

@TimStone I refuse.

@RebeccaChernoff Don't make me check in on my phone :p

@drachenstern Ah yes... Beijing - the city whose air quality was so bad it was reported as 'Crazy Bad' by the automated monitoring system

@drachenstern Thanks :)

3:30 PM
@YiJiang I lol'ed so hard when I read that article. "Crazy Bad? WTF?"

What the hell is an Assistant Chief Administrative Officer?

disappears

The middle of nowhere.

@TimStone The air quality was out of range of the monitoring system, the programmers must have thought it was a joke - the standards don't define a name for anything that high

That is crazy in and of itself, 500 ... holy crap. I would've put that in the code myself!
Reading: 500 ~ Description: System should never read values this high.

The pollution in Chinese city is absolutely horrible - living in Nanjing for a month, and blue skys were incredibly rare
I can't believe they actually managed to take that picture - taking off from Shanghai, and the city disappeared within ten minutes of takeoff under the smog

Sorry to hear that Yi
damnit, been here for three hours, still haven't opened outlook, what does that say?

@drachenstern outlook? ewwch

@radp We're a Microsoft shop

I'm on vacation and I've worked 5 hours already today, what does that say?

@mootinator That you're definition of vacation is slightly off?

3:48 PM
@mootinator idk, you haven't given us enough information to adequately answer the question
VTC:Not A Real Question

That I shouldn't try to take time off during year end payroll.
All this code which only gets used once a year they somehow manage to break differently each time.
