8:53 AM
testing out the "rejoin all" function on the rooms page (you may need to F5)

:85351 you have favoriting from the lobby now, too

yes, I saw, thanks.. I'm playing with room deletion styles at the moment.

/me votes for <blink> ;p

@marc I might dim deleted rooms instead of the purple. That, or a large 1 bar diagonal crossout strike
oh nice
yeah, that's good stuff

hmmm... replies might need some attention
(the id changed, and it strictly enforces that the reply room makes sense)
and I wonder if we should obliterate relocated posts - i.e. remove them from the source room completely (rather than leave some "removed" trace)

8:55 AM
yeah, we should -- though you want to leave a chat message

6 posts were moved to Chat Feedback

"users foo, bar, and baz -- and their last n messages -- relocated to the foo room"

or similar
did you get an invite btw?

where "foo room" is a link
yes

yay! it doesn't do that if you are already there
at the moment it also doesn't kick you from the original room. It could - it just seems a bit... disruptive? open to suggestions.

ah, did we fix my quoting nit?
yesterday, by Chacha102
across multiple messages
yes, excellent

in Teachers' Lounge, 7 mins ago, by Jeff Atwood
well, actually you can (not answering, but the primary use case which is finding existing answers)
(just to show cross-room)

yeah that's nice, very nice

Hey Richard

hi @Richard

@marc another potentially easy nit, can we normalize the gutter star font size with the rhs font size?
2
that drives me bonkers
(when the item has 2+ stars)
the problem is, when you work closely with designers long enough, you start to notice these little things -- started to happen to me at Vertigo ( vertigo.com )
at Vertigo they integrate designers closely. You can't "un see" the design stuff once you start to see it

can you add a star to that ("@marc") so I can compare?
(goes to fetch his twip ruler)
definitely bigger; 12px vs 11px - will fix; also, seems too low in the overlay

baseline is top in one case and bottom in the other
THESE ARE THE THINGS THAT KEEP ME UP AT NIGHT
I don't actually have a top/bottom baseline preference, but they need to both match

Given a choice of being kept up by "1px delta and vertical align", and "the site doesn't scale beyond 5 users, and allows root access to your PC", I think I'm happy that you're worried about css ;p

Q: Searching for "which" or "what" doesn't work on english.stackexchange.com

RegDwightIt appears that interrogative words are excluded from search. This might make sense in the context of SOFU, but not on English Language and Usage. In my case, I was looking for a question on the difference between "what" and "which", but neither of the following worked: http://english.stackexc...

> Looking for beer gets particularly difficult when you can't see straight, or even stand up

@Jeff: prompted by this Q

Q: Need a way to search for stop words

nohatSince this site is about English usage, the standard search engine for the site which filters out "stop words" is going to be problematic since many of the questions on the site will be about stop words. Obviously just eliminating the stop list isn't going to be a practical solution, but maybe ...

9:11 AM
there is no solution to that .. well, except "use Google"

IIRC google also has limited ability to find common words like "the"
Unless already part of a phrase
The question is good, just the state of the art doesn't have a good answer :-(
Another good meta Q from English:

Q: Should Strunk & White should be a GOLD badge on this site?

JohnFxOr at least there should be a gold level badge for it.
