There should be a limit to childish acts. We all can act like grown ups, who are we kidding? We just tend to lower our standards in chat, because this is supposed to be a mind-resting place. A mind-resting place for @Sha, where he comes after hard work and fighting with adult children.
But on the net, nobody can hear you chuckle, laugh, cry or scream. No one can see the intonation of your messages. Nobody can see the intention behind your messages, the connotation behind them, or the possible sarcasm in them. If you can't control the situation, it's just best to shut up, than to make a mess and pull the accelerator with all force to hit the wall harder.
I've been in a series of chat dramas back on ELL's chatrooms. The two sides of the argument are both very reasonable guys; and I always enjoy chatting with each of them. But,
for some reason they can't talk to each other without causing an argument.
