do you have ever read Gulliver's Travels books, @berserk? The part about the Houyhnhnms can be pretty interesting. While it basically describe the main character breakdown and fall to insanity, the reasons behind that are pretty.... strange.

that said, while there is no doubt One Piece contains a large amount of comedy, know also that the rest is 50% fight and 50% fellings that motivate the fighting.

@DroidDev by episode 16 you should already have seen the story about Luffy and Shanks. What do you think about Shanks reaction when the other captain smashes the bottle on his head in the bar?

then you may actually like the serie. A common trope that onepiece abuse is to have really awful enemies. And even worst character backstories.

For example, there is a whole arc dedicated to saving a person that is hunt down from the navy since "it" was a kid (it - so you won't even know if girl or boy) to torture and kill it. Why you ask? simple, only survivor of somewhere that could something the world government fears the most. Why only survivor? Because the same government cold blood killed an island worth of people, just to avoid the problem, with a strength that compares to nuclear bombing.

normally, I just fast-forward much of talking and things, because I am watching the show around 2 am and I just start getting bored pretty quickly at that time. Don't know why though. I just get the broad idea of what's happening and all the fight and stuff.

much, I fears. One Piece loves to build-up its fights. You have almost no fight without a reason, everytime there is a serious fight the anime/manga has built up to it to make you understand what the character feel
