@ShadowWizard ha, well, I went to university in Amsterdam but that is all... If I have to favor a football club I choose AZ because that is closer to my hometown when I grew up.
Some people have complained of certain question being "idea generation" questions, and closing them as too broad.
We now have a dedicated "Idea Generation" close vote/flag reason!! What does it mean?
What is the problem with "idea generation" questions?
In my opinion, idea generation questions are not a good fit for the Stack Exchange model for several reasons:
There are no criteria for picking the best answer -- everyone's ideas are equally valid; the question is too subjective.
It's just a kick-starter for a discussion or a debate -- SE is n...
BTW, sorry for all the late and short answers, but this week I am stuck in "flat-mane" Pinkie mode. And it is bad as it sounds - I don't have much time to explain what does it means when Pinkie mane "fall down", but a quick search should give enough info.
@DroidDev look, it is not a matter of problems. It is sadness. The one you feel when you realize that everything around you goes by the old Latin phrase "Homo homini lupus "
@SPArchaeologist so, its again cruel world. My current attitude towards it(and its like that since I remember): Can I solve it? Yes, then do it. No, Then forget it. There are endless things to get sad about. Have you read Gandhi's Talisman? Just a short thing and teach you many things.
@DroidDev Look... while I don't have read the book you reference (but seem interesting, may search for it) I believe my vision is almost the same. I can do nothing in these situation, so I am just a mountain there, watching the valley in silence.
that said, some Chinese philosopher I don't remember now once said something like "a mountain can have chosen to not act on the works of mans, but this doesn't means it doesn't cry inside"
@SPArchaeologist yes and that's what I am talking about. Getting sad isn't the option. It should never be. Getting frustrated is. Get frustrated, join a gym, throw your anger on punching bag, but never get sad. It just creates darkness inside. Always share yourself with others. Surround yourself with friends and sadness won't exist
@ShadowWizard punch
I wonder why this image has name IT Kama Sutra written in it :/
@DroidDev maybe it depends on the definition of "Sadness", probably my message does not come out like I would because English isn't my mother language. What I mean is that it "sadness" me to see that mans strive to live such ways. You can also say it may get me frustrated, or angry... but all what I feel is pity. Pity for humans like me who never understood friendship... or how to live.
I have been trying to imagine a world which was also created by a Big Bang. Following is something that I have created so far:
Another planet which was created also has species like us but they live in a tougher environment with high atmospheric pressure and more exposure to the sun; they have f...
@SPArchaeologist I stopped feeling pity long time ago. Again because of same attitude. If I can't do anything, I forget about it. That also helps in case of sadness. You never get emotional. It isn't like I don't do anything for people. I started giving some money to homeless people when I started earning. But, I saw them buying alchohol with that. Then I left that out and started giving them food. Then I saw them selling food and again buying drugs etc. Then I just laughed at myself and moved on.
that could be a problem. Even before going all "pony&harmony" I was a seer and a paladin in UO. You won't know it, but the whole Ultima videogame franchise is centred around a system of "Virtues" (which in turn takes inspiration from Buddhism) and Compassion is just one of those virtues.
I guess I should go for the Hotoke no kao mo sando - Even a Buddha's face... only three times
IT Development: the only field where you will be asked time estimations for things whose realization/architecture is still not know. And peoples still think it is normal to do so.

since it seems that the rest of humanity has so much difficulties understanding a so simple concept - that you cannot estimate how long will it take to perform something yet unknown - I hereby propose to claim devs as a new, more evolved race as Sheldon Cooper once said.
Let's all define ourselves "Homo Nobilis" from now on. :P
@berserk you know... sometimes I can somehow convince me that is natural. You are crafting something immaterial. It is not like a car... that is easy "How long to build a car? Ok, which car you need?" - everyone understands that you need to know what you have to do to tell how long it will take. With programs that simple assumption seems to fail
the problem: I can understood when clients do not understand... but pm non understanding too? That should be your competence area...
Xcode has got to be hands down the crappiest IDE to debug in. I get this error on the console and it's absolute hell to figure out where it's coming from. In Visual Studio I can click on the error and it takes me to the offending file. I've spent 30 min trying to figure wtf is going on. Ugh what a mess. — The Muffin ManJun 11 '13 at 5:57
I am currently going through the same feeling he went once
@berserk even more ironic. Most of our current PM weren't dev. Ever. Which I still belive is a requisite (can't manage things you don't understand). And the 20% ironic- er thing on top is that the other left just for such company behaviour...
As you can imagine, he never really served as a soldier
That's said, he made Iron Dome come true, while all others didn't believe it can happen he believed it to the end and it proved as the most successfull defense system we have these days
> In February 2007, Defense Minister Amir Peretz selected Iron Dome as Israel's defensive solution to this short-range rocket threat.[20] Since then, the $210 million system has been developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems working jointly with the IDF
Bottom line: sometimes it's good to have people who knows nothing about what they should be doing, since they look at things in a different perspective. :-)
@ShadowWizard well...I don't believe he was alone supporting that project without any technical backup and some guys who really convinced him that it was possible
@DroidDev let's say that major part of the people around him and above him including the Prime Minister believed it's going to utterly fail, but he just insisted.
@ShadowWizard what I am saying is, he would never have insisted, until there was someone who proved it to him that it is best. He might be a fool(as it seems in that photo). But, even in that case, he had someone very wise with him
@SPArchaeologist yup, cruel world
but consider this, if the system had failed. The scientists had just talked about it over a glass of wine. All the blame was his to shoulder

@ShadowWizard maybe I have found a bug that allowed to use the 10k tools without the required rep and by reporting it I earned the Hacker badge.... or maybe I am just joking :P
more credible guess: I have read Like Jon Skeet I was getting "Feature 'optional parameter' cannot be used because it is not part of the 3.0 C# language specification" so.....
wanted to see the deleted Skeet answer
the inkblot on Skeet CV :P
....
bad sign. To handle missing info my code is starting to be adaptable to all changes they may throw at it.

Good news! I devised a plan to save the stats, by supporting multiple chains then merging all the words. @berserk will have the honor of starting the new chain. All that is left is writing proper code, hope to do that tomorrow. :)
@rene pleasure :P
Currently @ber's chain got ~2000 words and the original ~51000
@rene you know, this reminds me... I once worked for amdocs and was part of a project called Wigloo which was an internal social network for the whole company. My GL found that Wigloo was once used as name for a porn site, but luckily it was closed few years before our project started. :P
@ShadowWizard early 2000 I was part of the web-team within a company working for the gorvernment. We needed to come-up with project ideas to do web-development for our customers. One of the members bought a video camera of our team-budget because porn was the only way to make money on the web. We weren't sure if naked ministers would sell...
@ShadowWizard We used the video camera to take an image of the flag-pole of the queens palace. if the flag was raised she was at work. We had a widget that showed it on our intranet-webpage to showcase our teams capabilities
