the bot has been running smoothly for a long time, it seems

@ProgramFOX it crashed yesterday after weird downtime all over SE... it restarted, other bots had a final death. (Smokey, @Kenny, etc. ;))

that's the advantage of wrapping the bot in a restart script... no matter how long there are server-side problems, it will keep trying

Very smart... why Smokey isn't using it? That's quite an important bot...

I haven't developed on it for years

but from what I have seen, Smokey now runs on many people's computers/servers

and if one fails, another takes over

The architecture got a lot complexer - and probably better for any moment that SE does not have a total downtime

@ProgramFOX not automatically. Someone must manually start it.

Think it was down for a full hour yesterday until one of its devs noticed and started it again.

all in all... very primitive compared to @FOX. ;)
