I updated the help pages linked here and replaced all occurrences of http:// with https:// that I could find.
so many links need
manual updating now
it is quite irksome
Just to clarify - the /help/on-topic sites (from the Glorfindel's answer) still remain http rather than https - those should be fixed by the mods on the individual sites, right? On an unrelated note: If somebody finds some other occurrences where https is missing, those should be reported as a new separate bug report? Or as a new answer here? — Martin31 mins ago
Actually I still see http here: "Do not use meta-tags in questions." (In help/tagging.) So I wonder whether (status-completed) wasn't a bit premature. And I still see http rather than https in help/dont-ask - that was the example mentioned by the OP. Does it take some time until the changes propagate to all sites? — Martin26 mins ago
I just fixed /tagging. /dont-ask I dont see anymore. If I fix the mse main article, it is automatic for all sites that didnt customize the article. Any site that customized needs to be updated manually on that site. — Yaakov Ellis ♦12 mins ago
rewrite-url tool only works on questions and answers, would need to be extended for help posts. Which actually would need a brand new tool (since help posts are stored in a totally different db
I fixed dont-ask on MSE
which auto-fixes anywhere that didnt customize it
if a site didnt customize, then they get the mse template
@YaakovEllis I am not sure how likely it is - but if I mange to find some other http links (either on Meta Stack Exchange or on per-site-meta on some site which isn't mod editable), should I post it as a new bug report?
So far I have asking-rate-limited: math.stackexchange.com/help/asking-rate-limited "If you haven't yet done so, please read our advice on how to ask good questions, both general and site-specific." The latter is http rather than https.
I suppose this one was customized - I do not know whether it can be edited by mods. But this is different - it did not propagate from the "central" template.
On badgesmath.stackexchange.com/help/badges I get: "Followed the Area 51 proposal for this site before it entered the commitment phase". (Maybe the same thing might be in other places with the description of the Precognitive badges...?)
In any case, I should probably try to come up with some reasonable approach which could help me check multiple sites in the help center automatically - rather than manually. And after I will try to notify you here in chat.
(Since I already had the sites mentioned above, I have posted at least those.)
When I now tried Physics, I get badges, notation, on-topic, question-bans. The last one is expected. The pages notation and on-topic were probably customized.
Ok, so I suppose I do not have to put a bug-report on Meta Stack Exchange about /badges/.
On Mathematics I now get http: in these pages - asking-rate-limited, notation, on-topic. searching. (And also on badges and question-bans - but you have mentioned that this is to be expected.)
So I suppose that the remaining pages on Mathematics which still have http (instead of https) are the pages which have been customized - so that is probably something to be discussed with the local mods on that site.
I see - you have basically answered this in your edit:
> Any help pages that are out there with http:// links should now just be on site-customizations (please go to the mods on the relevant site directly for fixing those).
Thanks for looking into this (and for your patience)!
